Part of the reason for that is because those moral guardians are now the people working in the industry itself and in the press that's supposed to cover the industry. That's leading to the out of touch situation we're now seeing in the gaming industry where companies bend over backwards for people who aren't their target demographic and gaming websites turning political.

Nah, the money is too good and we already see some companies realizing it was a mistake. Just look at Activision/Blizzard's recent lay offs which was mostly unimportant fluff jobs.
 
What’s sort of odd is that a lot of the THQN devs were actively shitposting along with everyone else during the AMA, which makes me think they’re only apologizing due to pressure from the higher ups or something.

Yeah I imagine someone higher up the chain was getting spammed with emails from gaming journalists asking him why he condones child pornography and he had to find out what was going on.
