If Vic is really as bad as he's saying, why can't they come up with anything discrediting him that isn't complete bullshit? How many of these things do they have to lie about and have the person actually in the video or picture come forward and say they're lying?
Then you have the more serious and defamatory accusations which are all anonymous or by crazy weirdos.

It feels like the kinda movie or manga or book or game plot that you’d criticize for not being realistic, having some of the characters just be unspeakably stupid while the protagonist has no real flaws. Who in their right mind would start a smear campaign without any real ammo? Or assume the target won’t fight back? Or let spergs embarrass themselves and your cause, steadily having the campaign fail?
Who would use pictures and video people in which aren’t on your side and would definitely say just as much? That’s just so stupid. Not what a normal, self-aware, capable of basic planning person would do.
6/10, decent comedy scenes though.

I don't think they expected any pushback, or not as much as their was. They certainly didn't expect him to lawyer up, otherwise they would've found evidence, they would have already had hundreds of complaints to funimation with peoples contact details and HR reports, they would ask him to come in, write a statement of apology and quietly leave.
Instead, all they have is 2 allegations, dozens of completely anonymous testimonies and proven edited and mis-contextualized videos and images. That instead of going to the company involved, go to AnimeNewsNetwork and Gizmondo? Surely all of these people who had bad experiences can say at least they made a recorded complaint to the con in question or funimation, right?
This was supposed to be the VA version of donglegate or shirtgate, not smirking kid.

Because in actuality the #metoo movement hasnt had any actual blowback. I cant recall anyone getting sued for making #metoo allegations. Even with Chris Hardwick he didnt sue. According to the Gizmondo article, after they had all their anonymous allegations lined up, apparently they went to his ex-fiance for comment and she was mortified. I suppose it added that little extra air of authenticity, don't you think?

Hope they werent lying about that. Also someone can be mortified but that doesnt confirm whether the allegations are real. That article doesnt say she believes the allegations either which is what Axanar said. The real smoking gun would have happened if the ex fiance had her own story to tell.
