Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Shane did say he did wrong things in the past... and he does run 4 conventions....

What does Shane run outside of NomiKai Dallas?

No... seriously. He's been wrong about so many fucking things, he's probably exaggerating on that too. He tried to claim he was still staff for A-Kon, but he was separated in 2017 and they made him change his LinkedIn profile.

I'll admit, however, that I skimmed the GoFundMe rules/terms of service and didn't see anything explicitly mentioning that you can't donate to your own campaign.

I don't know if you can do it, but Nick says you can't, and the KickVic people tried to claim Nick was donating to his own campaign.

It's not terribly relevant, because let's be honest here: She's doing this because she wants the good girl points. She could donate directly to the charity and not have GFM take their cut, but then nobody would know how she's a brave social justice warrior.

It's like leaving a price tag on a gift for all to see.

....Has Amanda Winn Lee always been this pants-on-head exceptional? I remember her as the original English voice for Rei Ayanami, and know that she provided voice work for John Flynt's wildly successful AAA title Revolution 60. She just threw herself into the fire on this one.

She's an IRL friend of Frank and Brianna Wu, so odds are good yes.

The Pushback has been break neck this time around because they pretty much gunned for the biggest name in dubdom for very nakedly obvious personal gain.

I'm not even sure their motives were that purely mercenary, although it is fairly obvious they can look forward to a bigger slice of a small pie if Vic just goes away.

Ya know, a huge body of adoring fans which will be something these unlikeable, unhinged fucks will never get.

I think that's more the motive. It is motivated by the visceral loathing of ugly little trolls for the popular guy. Like incels, they hate, fear and are jealous of the Chad. He is also everything SJWs hate. He's white, male, a Christian, not apologetic for any of that, and well liked anyway.

They are motivated mainly by seething resentment and want to destroy something they will never have, because they are repulsive little petty people.

That is one possible approach. The other is to use the 80k worth of serious litigators to pound the ex-coworkers, conventions and companies in the ass until they retract their statements publicly, reinstate his job and pay restitution.

A major problem is that any relationship he's had with many of these other VAs is permanently queered and it just isn't plausible they could ever work together on good terms again. Any goodwill there has been burned to the ground.

Even in the best set of circumstances real financial damages have been done to Vic.

And then someday you find yourself going through the crazy tweets by foaming dangerhair autists archived by the forum that literally murders trannies as part of your job.

Beats the hell out of defending pedophiles.

Yeah, I can't find anything specific either that says donating to your own GFM is a fraudulent.

As a lawyer, Nick holds himself not just to standards of pure legality but ethics, and there's a general rule (8.4(c)) prohibiting dishonest or unethical behavior. I think it is clearly deceptive to donate to your own GFM to seed it, whether or not it is clearly prohibited.

I don't know whether Nick is basing his decision on something specific in the TOS or just his opinion that donating to a GFM he organizes would fall beneath his level of ethics.

I don't see anything specifically say that either, but I do remember Nick saying he would make a private donation to Vic directly so there's gotta be something in there stopping him.

That's the beautiful thing about voice acting. They don't even have to. Vic records his lines in LA, and sends them into Texas. He doesn't have to be in the same room as any of these fucking people.

Cast con panels would be awkward, but fuck that... keep doing your own.

I can't really find anything specific either. However, there's this:

Services Description:
The Services are offered as a platform to allow an individual (the "Campaign Organizer") to post a fundraising campaign ("Campaign") to the Platform to accept monetary donations ("Donations") from donors ("Donors").

It distinguishes between "Campaign Organizer" and "Donors" and that the platform is for one to donate to the other. Not for the CO to donate to himself.

It also prohibits a number of activities:

  1. collecting payments on behalf of merchants by payment processors or otherwise; including but not limited to self-payments on campaigns or an attempt to bypass or otherwise circumvent the designated method of payment as provided by GoFundMe;

It's only prohibiting this in the context of using the service to bypass normal payment methods, i.e. to treat it as a general payment processor of some sort.

There isn't any term specifically prohibiting self-payments outside that context, though.

And this:

  1. aggregation of funds owed to third parties, factoring, or other activities intended to obfuscate the origin of funds;

Nick might have just concluded that it's deceptive, which it is, and he won't do it.

Frankly, the prevalence of the self-donation and incestuous circlejerk donations on Patreon and other similar platforms contributes to the disreputability of such services.

Something was telling me false flags were a possibility. Thanks for the confirmation

If they use this thread in the court case then would I be called to court? It would be awkward for me to sit in front of people with a huge massive boner going on.

It will be inconvenient for the court because they'll have to remove the witness stand so they can install a Nazi flag for you to lie on while saluting as you give your testimony.

I've been reading this thread for the past few days and wow.... I know the talent industry can have VERY vindictive people that can cause you to lose your job over petty shit, but what the #KickVic is trying (and failing in a truly retarded manner :story: ) to pull just takes the cake. It kind of reminds me of the whole issue involving some of Pokemon's VAs, most notably the bad blood between both of Ash's VAs.

Oh, and this is a bit of powerleveling but those "yaoi fanart" comments struck a chord with me...
I've met some of the VAs for Steven Universe at cons and I have NEVER seen any of their fans ask them to sign yaoi/yuri fanart, even more so if said fanart is NSFW. And yes, by some fucking miracle the Steven Universe fandom actually has better con etiquette (social media etiquette is a different can of bullshit) than some anime fandoms.

Downloaded.
He's talking shit, same shit as the twitter-brigade.
I heard soooooooooo many stories!
Vic is a creep, that's why he shouldn't work anymore, etc.
But that's just his opinion....
He claims that Vic has changed translations to fit his worldview. (projection?)

She's always been a bit of a drama queen, yes.

she's also infamous for the commentary audio in End of Evangelion where she talks stuff out of her ass. Also, she directed that dub(which, thankfully,is being re-done by Netflix) and decided to add some cartoonish splatter sound effects in some scenes because she thought it would be an improvement...can't wait to see her complaining on twitter that Netflix "ruined" her "improvements" when Eva's new dub comes out.

Broke: Being skeptical of invented accusations against famous VA
Woke: Believing invented accusations against famous VA while being in same position as famous VA
How can someone say "hurr I've been called a pedo before so I know how it's like" and then immediately do the exact same thing???

Because they believe that they're untouchable since they're 'good Progressive/Feminist/buzzword boys'.
Unfortunately, they've yet realize that this is a domino chain, and once one falls, EVERYONE falls.
