Another thing about this is that, considering the origins come from fangirls scorned, I'd be certain a number of the anonymous accounts and Twitter/Tumblr callouts are, indeed, sockpuppets.
Having read about lolcows in fandoms, sockpuppets are very common to make it look like you - and by you, I inevitably mean 'an obsessed girl with a shaky grasp on reality' - aren't alone and other people agree and support you. They're also quite handy in a pinch to attack you, so you can get sympathy from the people you want to impress. I'd put money on someone like hanleia or meepy or whichever of these crazed fans has decided Vic is the devil the most, has perpetuated gossip around him to continue their crusade and faked accounts to do so.
And again, some of the accusations might have some truth to them. We really have no way of knowing anymore, and since everything with any kind of evidence has turned out to be fake, it just makes more sense to assume that it's all bullshit and rumours and a bunch of weebs insisting 'there's no smoke without fire'.
And the 'hell hath no fury like a woman scorned' part is very likely to be true, as well. I remember reading (on sites that are all gone now, it appears) about some creepy girl on a Smallville fandom site who spammed it with her love for the lead, and then went to a convention and at a panel got up and asked him to marry her. She made it so awkward that he ended up leaving the stage, and very shortly after that same site had over two dozen people sign up saying how much they hated him and how horrible he was and how anyone who liked him was evil. All traced back to that one crazy girl who felt rejected, and so was determined to ruin his life - albeit in the only forum where she would be listened to.
Sadly, though, the entire internet, through things like Twitter and Tumblr and Facebook, are those forums. And so if someone wants to be malicious against a public figure, no matter how minor, no matter why, it can spread from just a little corner that no-one gives a shit about to the entire fandom and industry.
tl;dr Never underestimate the amount of damage one person with a grudge and some time can do online - and now have it go offline, as well.
