Eh, in fairness to critiquing Perfect Blue it relies a lot on the opening "shock" ending Act 1 to carry it.

For Grave of the Fireflies, he has a point in saying it's an emotionally manipulative film, even though it was made for a Japanese audience and not for anyone else so it kind of would be a film that would berate those little ingrates for not being appreciative of their parents who survived a horrific war.

But Barefoot Gen is the better film, anyway.

Her and Machi have both said some really fucking nasty comments on the basis they were hoping court of public opinion would back them. When it didn't, they've certainly crunched gears with Machi pretending she's never done anything wrong at all, and Rial now mass blocking people asking questions or pretending all the "evidence" is with an investigator.

We know it's not, because when they were in their manic public opinion phase basically calling for Vic's Death they'd have dropped it then and fuck there being an investigation. Especially as it wasn't a criminal one but the internal Funimation one.

They're now desperately bluffing while Rial likely sharpens the knives ready to slam them into Soye and Machi's backs the second she's in deposition. "They egged me on! Look at how I went quiet while they continued their public slander!"

As for RWBY: I'm really ambivalent about it. Some people I trust seem to like it.

As a fan... I'd say it's probably not worth it.

The show was never great, but it was fun. I like the world building, and Oum was a really great choreographer.

But the show died with Oum. I don't believe the story had radically changed, and it would of evolved from it's state when he died to now even if he was alive, it's just how creative processes go(except I don't believe Bumblebee was planned, and I think they're working through the plot at half speed to stretch out there employment.

But Oum I think was a lot of the creative force behind the show, and I think the fights that were so amazingly over the top (4 shotguns chained together as a pair of nunchucks crazy) were lost with him. It's much more generic now.
