"Percy Tyrone Beard"? Is she trying to dunk on a lawyer?

Amazin'.

It was Nick that went into the jurisdictional issues, I believe. Ty is playing his cards closer to his chest.

This case could be filed either in state court or in federal court. In either case, though, Texas would have jurisdiction over it, as many of the defendants are in Texas and the events and damages largely occurred in Texas, many of the relevant witnesses are in Texas, and presumably, there are minimum sufficient contacts with Texas by the nonresident defendants that they can also be haled into court there.

If you simply ignore it and get a default judgment against you, that judgment can be domesticated in your home state and executed upon in a court local to you, and then the plaintiff can go try to collect from you there, adding the costs of doing so to the original judgment.

Why the fuck do they mesure attendance as "Warm Bodies"? Do people bring corpses to these things now?

Registration =/= Turnstile.

If you go by pre-regs, and there are no shows, it would fuck up the numbers. I remember that debate from back in the day.

But what @AnOminous said is certainly funnier.

I missed archiving these by about 30 seconds. Both are now deleted.

We've been through this before.

1. You can sue in Texas if somebody is fucking with your business prospects in Texas. I dunno if that applies to Haberkorn as much as it applies to Vic. It's true that Jessie and Todd are in California. Maybe Haberkorn thinks the axe is gonna fall on him next and this is a defensive measure.

2. He could, theoretically, go Pro Hac Vice. But I'd really recommend against running this in a California court. To whatever extent my lay opinion means anything. First, I wanna see a successful legal un-metooing in an environment that is more politically receptive to the idea.

I figure that there are weebs in the rural areas of Texas that influx to both cons, so the actual con staff and attendance makeup is probably closer to purple.

But that's just a theory.

I've known people around Oklahoma and as far East as Georgia talk about going to A-kon or Matsuri in the past, so a lot of the makeup is actually people from other states. If the convention is big enough, it will draw in weebs like moths to a flame.

This made me chuckle like an idiot.

Not sure if this was posted here before? But this proves that MarzGurl ED page needs to be updated and also she needs to move back to her parent's house given she is not only still a child mentally but also likes to act like a tough woman on the internet where people already found out about her dirty secrets.

Vic really must have stored a ton of good Karma up in heaven, because having this team of high powered lawyers who are also fucking nerds intervene on his behalf can be nothing less then divine intervention.

God helps those who help themselves.

Funimation can't know they're not on the hook in this, although it does seem to imply blithering idiocy that they haven't told their minions to STFU for the love of god. Unless they're very deliberately letting them hang themselves, they're as oblivious as Marchi and the rest. Rial at least has the sense to let some cuck go out there and put his neck on the chopping block instead of her.

But it would not be a great idea for Funimation to go out there and do even more tortious interference or, for that matter, do or say anything at all.

Just remember, Gen Fukunaga is a devout Christian and the split second he sold the company to Sony, they attacked the other prominent, devout christian in the company. Gen could've said "No, guys, don't comment any further." and they'd have likely followed it.

The fact they haven't says he's probably doing this entirely on purpose. Why deny your enemies rope when they're throwing money at you to sell it to them?

I don't know, exactly, other than a lot of it is industry, but people actually showing up and buying shit at those booths have a high degree of likelihood of sharing at least some features with the comic book "whales," i.e. superfans who buy literally everything but who if they get pissed off stop buying everything, i.e. the average ComicsGate whale.

Whales in the Animu terms are fucking insane. Like, far beyond the Comics Whales. These are the guys that think absolutely nothing to dropping $500+ on a figurine that probably cost all of $90 to make. It's at the point that anime companies and the support companies attached (the merch makers) are the ones who push hard towards the whales almost to the point of suffering for general merchandise.

Ho boy.

Beard Harris Bullock has lawyers who're able to practise in multiple states. Carey Christie's able to hit people in three states alone. (Texas, Missouri, Colorado).

So God knows what other states they could go on the attack for if they wanted to.

I believe one piece of information slipped from Ty and got overlooked.

Ty mentioned that he's the lead lawyer for Vic's case, and later on mentioned that he specializes in business law and effectively doesn't touch other cases. I could be wrong here or I could've misheard, but that probably means that RT and Funimation are primary targets, with the VA being either used as leverage, or collateral targets.

I set my alarm for 4 AM so I could catch most of the stream before having to get ready for work. I'm a big fan Ty Beard already. Anybody that's into military history and squashing malicious weebs is a good egg in my book. Vic is in good hands.

Well the whole situation is still these morons interfering in Vic's business and his future business prospects. Funimation and RT could've stepped back enough to have kept their hands clean, and RT managed it... until the staff there began tweeting shit out because they couldn't fucking help themselves to get their #woke on.

Of course, now it means a few of them are going to go #broke.

Thus proving the adage forever.

Nick tearing a new one into Soy Toy is glorious to witness.

Why would you go after Broke VAs when you can go after 2 companys(one of them has all the money in the world if you want to sue them, sony pockets are deep.)

While we still don't know who'll get served for sure, since this is in part about mending Vic's reputation I fully expect some twitter spergs to get caught up in this, no matter how poor they are. Hell, marzgurl or jesuotaku are probably good targets because they can't afford good lawyers so they can't put up enough resistance to rack up a huge bill.
