I remember once a Con staffer giving me a death glare because I discounted the charity posters we were hucking at a con to one staff member who'd spent time chatting with us, asking what charity we were supporting (the Con's chosen charity for Malaria) but only had his last £5. But refused to discount further the already discounted posters my artist friend was selling as well. The guy murmured some very rude words and stormed off, shoulder barging me in the process.

Con Staffers really do think they're special, rather than volunteers giving up some time. I mean, it's nice if a VA says thanks or whatever, but you aint a paying customer, bucko.

For instance, the supposed video footage of Vic harassing a fan at a con, only for said fan to clarify that the video was just taking things out of context and that they didn’t give the uploader permission to post the video, and then they suspiciously BTFOed after that. It's them attacking the con indirectly. The con isn't going to capitulate to them, especially not with the owner suffering from his own MeToo hoax. (And yes, new rule: All MeToo allegations are hoaxes until a police report is provided.) So they have to try and harm it in other ways.

The con won't obey their woke masters, but artists tend to be more woke than average, so they might just be able to drive some of them away. And even those artists that aren't woke probably are left leaning, which means they're susceptible to empathy attacks -- i.e., social pressure, shaming, etc.

And if the con can't fill the artist alley, the con might tank financially.

Artist Alleys can be huge boons to artists during the year, especially big cons like AM. Some artists plan on one con being the majority of their con earnings.

If you do art for a living and supplement with cons, sometimes artists cannot turn down a con since that would be a big financial loss. It took AX serious dangerous levels of overcrowding and depriving the AA of air conditioning and making 4 artists faint and countless others sick from the air quality for artists to stop going to AX. Twitter rumors are easier to put up with.

It's real shitty to shame artists who need this con for income because woke points doesn't pay rent.

Anime Matsuri has that history of shady practices (those case #'s are legitimate), and BAM seems to overemphasize the sexual harassment & assault allegations. They have mentioned the business issues previously and they're included in the summary page they've linked on their Twitter bio, but I think they'd be more effective shining a light on Matsuri's apparent "dine n' dash" approach to business loans & service vendors.
