Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

So if Justin Cook is an okay guy, he may not have to get dragged into this mess, but he was one of the original founders, right? It's probably why he's been mostly relegated to being credited as a producer, I take it? (I don't recall him being cast in anything big in the last few years, anyway.)
Nothing off the top of my head in terms of new stuff. The only thing I can see is him coming back for Fruits Basket.

Since we're tangentially talking VA's, Aaron Dismuke is his cousin. I imagine he would probably be supporting Vic in secret since they were pretty close since the early FMA03 days. Vic always speaks about him fondly like a family member.

I know we are not supposed to feel sorry for Cows, but having watched Ron I think I have his basic psychology pegged. He is some menial mortgage broker who works in a cubical, making calls, receiving calls, having to go to work in uncomfortable shirts and sucking up to people day in and day out. He has to suck up to his boss, who is probably some cousins son to the owner of the company and 5 years younger to him. He has to suck up to his clients, who are difficult idiots who don't know the difference between a credit and a debit. But even then he can't use his knowledge but instead explain in pedantic detail basic financial stuff to people who have more money then he does but less brain cells, and look down on him for it. And if for one second he lets slip what he really thinks about them from behind the servile mask, he will get fired by the cousins son 5 years younger then he is.

But then a miracle happens. He gets romantically involved with an "actress". A major player, the voice of Bulma! I mean, he watched Dragonball Z growing up! He knows who Bulma is. This is a big deal! Suddenly his menial existence is not so menial. Now, for the first time he has his hands around something divine, not mundane. Now, he has the respect of someone clearly his superior. A literal demi-god of culture and grace. But there is a problem. His precious demi-god has to mingle amongst other demi-gods. Like Vic Mignogna. How can Ron, humble Mortgage broker guy, compare to the voice of Edward Elric and his legion of Fan Girls? Did he touch his precious divine creature monica? Who knows?! She say's it never happened, but it almost did and it was horrible! Oh Ron, he practically forced himself on me! I was so scared! You will help me defend my honor against Vic, won't you Ron?!

And so he does. Because he must. Suddenly he is not Ron, random Mortgage Broker guy. Now he is the fearless White Knight, defending Bulma from the evil racist rapist misogynists. It does not matter that his precious love has gone silent and left him to fend for himself. His cause is just. His cause is Important. It MATTERS! For the first time in his life he is doing something REAL! He is not selling Mortgages to stuck up idiots who insult his clear superiority. He is fighting the enemies of society, decency and his precious Monica Rial! He is a HERO!

Good luck Ron.
Ron was the good guy all along :) What a tragic figure :)

Gonna keep this as vague as possible so I don't power level myself. I was in charge of hiring people and I specifically avoid hiring people of a certain religion, it's a sub-denomination of Christianity, because of their practice of hiring exclusively of their members and if they have a church holiday they will cripple operations on that day. If they get in and squirm their way to HR, that's it. We were a fairly new firm and I was having none of that. Recently I added danger hairs to my personal do-not-hire list.
Mormons are not Christians, they're weird heretics, and that's coming from a fairly non-religious protestant.

And he just mentions this now? What a friend.

Mr. Toye, did you or did you not receive information from people close to you that a felony act had occured.

Uh..yeah, I did.

Was the felonious act upon your friends upsetting to you?

Yes. Yes it was

So upsetting you immediately notified the authorities that a felony assault had occured.

Ye..uh..no. I mean, I didn't call the cops if that is what you are saying.

Why Mr. Toye?

What do you mean Why?

Mr. Toye, you just said three of your very close friends were victims of a felonious assault. Why didn't you notify the police?

It was not my place to act on their behalf!

It was certainly your place to act on their behalf on twitter. Who are the alleged victims again for the record?

I..uh...can't say. Its not my place.

You are under oath Mr. Toye. Did you call the police when these friends of yours informed you of a felonious assault?

No.

Why didn't you call the police.

It was not my place too. They needed to do it themselves!

Did they do it?

No.

Why didn't they do it?

I don't know!

What do you know Mr Toye? You seemed pretty adamant you knew what was going on when you defamed Vic Mignogna on twitter!

I didn't defame anyone! It was the truth!

And you can prove its true? With what? The word of three unnamed individuals? Who you claim were assaulted but never notified the police? When they told you this story, why did you not notify the police?

I...I want an attorney.

You were told to find in attorney 2 months ago. You are under oath Mr. Toye and you will answer the question, unless you want to plead the 5th Amendment? Are you involved in anything that might incriminate you Mr. Toye?

He recently liked something from Monica Rial. Which could just be coincidence. But you'd think if he was on Vic's side he would just ignore all those cows.

Also Vic probably thought about most of these people that are now attacking him as family. Which is pretty heartbreaking.

I wouldn't say it's about blaming Vic. Here's the problem: J&D have a history of opportunistically defrauding people & business partners. There's a reason that parable about the scorpion & the fox exists. And here's an opportunity for them to aggressively market their misfortunes as being akin to Vic's in an environment where most won't be in a position to know or quickly find out about their other problems (most of which seemed to either primarily gain traction in a niche subculture or primarily be limited to Houston). The fact that the Boycott Anime Matsuri account is apparently being managed by a half-witted rabid harpy doesn't help the situation, either. I think Vic's got a hard enough road ahead without letting this viper into the nest.
But people aren't interested in hearing about their misfortunes. The reality of the situation (from my perspective at least) is that these people are doing something a lot of other cons aren't: they're giving Vic a chance. And Vic isn't exactly getting his pick of the litter when it comes to conventions at the moment, so that's huge for both Vic and the con itself.

Even if their reason for doing this isn't pure (and say they're simply capitalizing) I'm fine with that. At least they aren't complicit in trying to destroy an innocent man's life over unfounded accusations like the other cons.

Idk. Maybe I'm being naive or simply not understanding the issue at hand here.

Well shit... Hoping he's just liking the tweet for the general message then. Heartbreaking if he does turn out to be on their side.

Caitlin Glass would be the only other VA I can imagine who might be supporting him then but I don't have access to Twitter, so I wouldn't know.

Well if Dismuke is anti-Vic now, imagine what his own parents think of him.

After sifting through her twitter profile for a little bit it seems she likes a lot of random tweets from people who also shit-talked Vic previously.

I like to think the people who are on Vic's side are just keeping a low profile so they don't lose their jobs next. But who knows?

Do none of these people realize how shitty it is to say you continuously have seen a single person abuse many people (including your loved ones) for 20+ years but apparently didn't say anything because you cared too much about your public image?
I get that Monica can try and scream "I was a victim, I was too scared!!" But what's Ron's excuse?

"It wasn't my place to act and go to the public. I respect her choices."

It's always something like that.

Somewhere in Texas, an Amazon adds a screenshot to a certain folder on her computer. It's a very large folder.

How did you know they were members of that religion (I'm guessing JW) during the interview? I'm sure you're not allowed to straight up ask them. Would they try to give you literature at the beginning or something?

My issue is that I don't like the fact you got a guy who's being accused of being a creeper, despite the lack of evidence, now being associated (even if it's out of some sort of desperation and they aren't tied at the hip), with a guy who has quite a bit of a verifiable history of being a creeper.

My issue is that I'm apparently an "optics cuck."

Is it a big issue? I dunno. Possibly not. I wish AM stayed the fuck out, as I can't imagine their motives are entirely pure, but that ship has sailed.

This is all something of a different animal because we're barreling towards litigation, and Vic isn't putting all his chips on a half-baked PR spin. So it might not even be relevant at all in the end, and my concern is all for nothing.

I think it was stated that she publicly supported Vic before it got really big and deleted her reply the moment the issue became bigger, and I can't exactly blame her considering how vicious the #KickVic side is.

Vic has a team of lawyers that have shown themselves to be very competent. I’m sure they’ll handle the issue, if one arises, accordingly.

It's always something like that.

You can respect someone's choices and still keep a contemporaneous record (doctors and lawyers do it all the time). People change their minds. Put what they told you/showed you in a word document and send it to yourself. Send someone uninvolved a text about it. Put yourself in a position where if you're ever asked about it later you have documentation which shows you're not just making shit up now.

So Soy Toye has now created a situation where he will be put under oath and forced to out 3 more victims, whether they want to have anything to do with this or not. Whether they even consider themselves as victims or not. Given the lack of personal agency this crew gave to the girls in the pictures they held up as evidence, I can't see this going any better for them.
