If you’re a child and the first thing that comes into your head when you think about mermaids is “they have no genitalia,” you have been molested.

*Jazz wants to move out and her parents are against it. "I can't even get you to get out of bed in the morning!" says Jeannette. Jazz doesn't want to wear a bra to a job interview. Or ever I guess? You can see her weird yam boobs a lot in this episode.I will preface this by saying he should never have posted any of this on the internet, incredibly stupid. HOWEVER. All this guy is doing is making dark jokes about medical subject matter. That is one of many coping mechanisms that you commonly see in the medical industry. If people try to do this work without something to keep them afloat (humor, religion, a good therapist, whatever) they get traumatized by witnessing so much human suffering. I've literally never seen a television show accurately capture what the medical industry is like and the kind of people that work within it, so I am sure this is super shocking to outsiders, but not to people who have experience with the grosser parts of the medical industry. Everyone within it seems to respect how the next person copes so long as it means that they can work better and the patients get better outcomes, so it isn't like the jesusy ones look down on the edgelords.
back to jazz:
Amir was really grossed out by hearing about the stomach lining vag. He apparently didn't know that at all until this episode. A lot of young people seem to think you can get a real vagina or a real penis installed somehow. He doesn't seem attracted to jazz. There was a sub plot about jeannette trying to get Jazz to wear a bra more often. I can watch more tomorrow and write a better summary of what happened.
God bless you for suffering through this shit. I certainly don't have the stomach for it.*Jazz wants to move out and her parents are against it. "I can't even get you to get out of bed in the morning!" says Jeannette. Jazz doesn't want to wear a bra to a job interview. Or ever I guess? You can see her weird yam boobs a lot in this episode.
*Jazz is going on an interview for nightline, Jeannette is giving "talking points" like an agent or something. Jeannette says to gloss over the surgery complications because she doesn't want to scare families considering the same procedure. Jeannette is annoyed at how graphic jazz is about the surgery and complications.
*They are going to NY to see dr ting for a "shot in the vagina". It sounds like a shot to soften hypertrophic scarring to me.
*ABC reporter shows up and says she rewatched the barbara walters interview. Jazz replies "everything is changed in my room except I still have the same gross carpet" like an absolute brat. Jeannette talks again about how nervous she is about Jazz spilling the beans about how horrible it is. Jazz is dead set on being honest. Her mom is mad.
*The journalist leaves. mom and dad interrogate her about the interview. Jazz copped to telling the truth.. "I told you not to say that" Jeannette says. "I'm the one who is going to get emails from people about this" said Jeannette. Jeannette is the REAL victim here you guys! Not the kid with their inverted quilt of flesh falling apart!
next scene is in a store, Jazz is designing a bra despite not wearing them. Jeannette must have done this. She complains that Amir's mom texted his son "why you dating a man? is my son gay now?" Jazz wants to meet Amir's mom. Jazz's rich white friends weigh in on how to change Amir's moms mind.
Next scene: flying to new york. Amir is meeting them there for some reason? They meet up and Amir gives Jazz the exact same hug to Jazz and Jeannette. They don't seem attracted to each other. Jazz explains that her appointment with dr ting is to maybe get cortisone shots "in the vagina for scar tissue, because there are scars". Amirs face:

bra photo shoot. Jazz says "this really validates my identity". She got to see the bra prototype and its tie-dye, mermaid inspired. "I love mermaids because they have no genitalia just a beautiful tail" wtf. Jazz is doing a photoshoot and Amir seems really not to care. He doesn't smile once. They go around NY and its the same thing. this picture sums it up pretty well.

Poor Jazz. The kid really thinks this is what dating is like.
Jazz loves NYC and Amir thinks its just like philly and smells bad. Jazz is annoyed that Amir is "being negative". Jazz asks to meet amir's mom but he says it can only make things worse. "I hope jazz has a place for me to live when I get kicked out" Amir says. Jazz is a spoiled ass brat that doesn't understand that her permanent slot at her mom's opulent house is not a normal situation.
next scene: at Dr Ting's office.
"It still doesn't look good" says Jazz.
"It just looks different than when Marci saw it, I don't know if that's good or bad." Says Jeannette.
"It still doesn't look like a vagina yet." Says jazz.
Dr Ting comes in. He says the wound has healed (I am assuming they mean the area where they had to do more grafts because of separation is healed together).
Jeannette asks what the cortisone shot would do.
Dr Ting explains that the scar (he makes a shape with his hand, seems to indicate that there is a ring of scar all around the "vulva") will soften and look more like normal skin with the cortisone shot.
"What weare talking about now is letting the scar soften and mature enough so that we can manipulate that skin, and, you know, create the labia" says dr ting, he later says they need to make a hood for the clitoris.
????It sounds like a fucking FGM victim situation.
Jazz "is it gonna hurt" dr ting says "yes". They give the shot and jazz says "I didn't feel anything".
I know that cortizone shots are used on scars that are hypertrophic, meaning they have grown beyond the border of the original wound.
Jazz asks the dr if she is cleared to do sexual activity after the shot.
Jeannette says "no! Never!" they cut to an in home interview and Jeannette says "its not that shes too young! its that her vagina is too young!"
Jazz's in home interview references genitalia 3 times in 20 seconds. "I need to ask my doctor because we are talking about genitalia here, and we all know what genitalia are for. yes amir is my boyfriend and he does have a penis!" poor kid really thinks he could keep his dick hard long enough to have sex with jazz.
Amir asks how it went. Jazz says dr ting said he plans for the revision surgery in a year. So JAzz is walking around with a labialess stink ditch for another year at least. Jazz explains the original procedure using "stomach lining to create the vagina". Amir:

They say "oh you didn't know?" He goes "oh uh.. okay" and laughs nervously and says "that's cute" while clearly dying inside.
She says "they used different stuff as vagina material". Amir continues to laugh nervously and says "I don't know what to say". He can't look Jazz or Jeannette in the eye.
"I'm creeped out." he finally blurts out.
Jazz looks like hes gonna cry.
Jeannette says "well, do you mind?"
Amir says "I don't know, it's pretty weird"
Now jazz and amir look like they are going to cry. Jazz claims to have told him over the phone a bunch of times. He wasn't fucking listening or didn't understand I guess, not shocking since he clearly doesn't even like her.
The next scene is the phone call with Amir's mom. Amir's mom snitches on him for being a homophobe in more depth, and Amir's mom says "the problem I have is that this is not who he is. I have a problem with him claiming 'oh this is who I am today', he's not telling you the truth." jazz gets confused and says "what is he not telling me the truth about?" BEING GAY, obviously.
Amir take the phone out of jazz's hand and hangs up the phone before they can talk more in depth and walks out of the hotel room.
He goes out of the range of cameras and says "my mom is so full of shit, she's so crazy", probably unaware that the microphones catch stuff without the camera being there. Jazz calls Amir's mom back. lol. And asks for acceptance.
Jazz hangs up on Amir's mom after she asks hard questions. Jazz claims that she is a victim of people like Amir's mom (rich white teenager is a victim of a single working black moms oookay). Amir looked like he was in physical pain during the conversation.
Amir leaves and he looks really fucked up over it. "are you gonna be homeless?" Jazz asks, stupidly.
"I want you to come to florida as soon as possible" she says.
Amir has a post filming interview where he says he will risk the relationship with his mom for jazz because "we have a connection, and it's my happiness". The couple hugs platonically and amir leaves, they still haven;t kissed, even on the cheek, the entire trip. Jazz is almost 18 years old. TLC should really spring for an actor who can pretend to be in love with Jazz, this is painful and weird to witness.
"What weare talking about now is letting the scar soften and mature enough so that we can manipulate that skin, and, you know, create the labia" says dr ting, he later says they need to make a hood for the clitoris.
Jazz "is it gonna hurt" dr ting says "yes". They give the shot and jazz says "I didn't feel anything".
the end of the first phone call (which wasn't heard on the preview) is around 23:30, the second phonecall happens right afterwards."I didn't feel anything." Welcome to your sex life, Jazz. Though to his credit, I'm surprised he was able to nut (or... whatever) up and tell the truth on Nightline in spite of Mother Dearest's instructions. Considering how Jeanette has spent the last 15(?) years making sure that her son is utterly dependent on her in every way, that he'd have the resolve to stick to his guns in spite of all that brainwashing is heartening.
Amir needs to get the fuck out of Dodge. I don't know if he's gay, or confused, or wants the attention, or whatever, but he's clearly in so far over his head that he's not seeing daylight anymore. His mom is turning into my favorite character on the show. (Do we have audio on that second call?)
It must be exhausting
You realize what we see on the show is delayed like 6 months right? So these butchers will do more experiments on him. I wonder how long it will take for Jazz to understand that his multilated genitals will never look and feel like a vulva/vagina. I guess he thinks it will look better after the next butchering.
He had the surgery in JUNE 2018 and he still can't feel anything. Yep, that boy is numb down there.

in a few years (less?) jazz will break away for the Soledad O'Brien interview worth $everal million & additional tales of sleazy surgeons & nasty family member-diddlers will all come out.

I find it weird as to how cheerful and oblivious he is about trooning out. Like how his current boyfriend's mom is trying to protect her son, his desire to go into autistic detail about his surgery in front of random people, and the fact that he almost got an hernia from his surgery. It's really sad if you think about it...Jazz will be a case study for being fucked with on the gender dysphoria issue nearly from birth.
And yes, I know there was that case that John Money was involved with, but that person's life wasn't documented nearly as thoroughly as Jazz's. We've seen nearly every intimate detail of his life.
I mean, when you're told you are something for literally all your life, you eventually start to believe it. That's part of the reason why most celebrities become lolcows. All that wealth and fame gets you a lot of yes men in your life.I find it weird as to how cheerful and oblivious he is about trooning out. I didn't start watching this trainwreck unti recently, but wasn't he prancing about like a girl when he was little? And his parents went along with it?I mean, when you're told you are something for literally all your life, you eventually start to believe it. You can only be told you're awesome, untouchable and always right so many times before you believe it.
The story is that when he was three or four, Jazz (then Jaron) supposedly told his mother something along the lines of 'I was supposed to be born a girl', and like any loving, caring mother immediately started him on hormone blockers.I didn't start watching this trainwreck unti recently, but wasn't he prancing about like a girl when he was little? Yeah he preferred feminine toys and companions from a young age, but so did a lot of the gay guys I grew up with & no one told them they were girls. Jazz's mom got him diagnosed with gender dysphoria at age 3. It's ridiculous. 3 year olds don't know that cartoons aren't real and you can't explain it to them. Also, if you pour a liquid from a wide beaker into a thin one they literally can't understand that it is the same amount of liquid as before, the tallness of the 2nd beaker fools virtually all 3 year olds. Their brains are mostly focused on developing language capacity so not a lot else is going on for them at that time, their personality isn't set in stone that early. It should not be possible to diagnose GD at that age, but Jeannette went for it, for whatever reason.I didn't start watching this trainwreck unti recently, but wasn't he prancing about like a girl when he was little?
