The original story and characters are from the book, then there was film adaptation that has some changes (How to train your dragon, Gulliver's travels, and Harry Potter Series)

Chris thinks reboots like format a usb drive instead of another dimension like Marvel does. Just fucking call it Dimension C-420

I’m guessing it was the Idea Guys, and Chris’s unwillingness to give up the insane beliefs that they had built up in him.
