I hope he looks at some of the Glassdoor reviews for Funimation. Even some of the positive reviews, if you look at the page, talk about the same stuff.
I would be hesitant to trust the glassdoor reviews. I've looked through the ones posted for the company I've worked at for 9 years, especially those I recognize as being in my area or wheelhouse, and they tend to be a mix of bullshit, fanaticism, and saltiness.

Sabat is worth around around $8 million. I think Jamie is around $5 million, but I’m not so sure about the source of that and whether it’s up-to-date or not. I have no idea about Rial.
If these figures are coming from whatever pops up in google when you search for "celebrity net worth" then they should be ignored entirely. Just a quick search for Rial shows varying reports from $250k to $19 million.

I hate to be another one of those people, but can I get the bullet points of this whole situation?

FMA is one of my mother's favorite anime and I really want to bring her up to speed.

Try one of Nick Rekieta's streams from the Saturday of CONmunity 2019. He does a good summary.

True. Unless you’re a movie/television actor, your net worth is most likely not set and stone.

This. I'm not fully buying that Vic has a net worth of $4 million. Voice acting in anime is not a lucrative business, in fact, it makes less money than western animations.

Should I kill myself now, or can I fix this transgression with remedial shitposting?

I dunno man? I mean I created a Twitter account years ago and only ever sent one tweet (to Blizzard, they were raffling off the code for a Celestial Tiger Mount in WoW... what can I say I'm a sparkly mount whore). And I'm pretty sure I'm blocked by Steve Shives. Does your profile not indicate you are White or Male and thus unworthy of public engagement?

But you might be right, actually. Although, as Nick said, even a successful person in the millions of dollars when it comes to net worth can run into financial troubles with lawsuits, hence some motivation for the GoFundMe.

Oh man those Glassdoor reviews are brutal. And so on point. There is a recurring theme there of in group backstabbing and vindictive HR action. As for the VA's net worth. Remember that does not typically mean liquid assets or cash. Monica Rial may have $5 mil, but much of it may be locked up in property, investments and businesses. Figure if that number is correct than at least 20-30% of that is Home Value alone.

It's pretty likely they already have or, if not, are going to very soon. We'll see what they put in the complaint if there is one.

It's Texas, so they have to begin any suit regarding Defamation with a pre lawsuit formal request for retraction. Which Nick was hinting have gone out.

That does make me wonder if Vic should branch out more and not do just anime, but rather television and video games as well. Guys like Troy Baker and Steve Blum went from doing voice overs for anime in their early days to doing almost exclusively cartoons and video games recently.

Outside of the drama

  • Hazukari in early January was ejected from the Anime Industry for alleged dickpic sending
  • The Anime Community pat themselves on the back
  • ANN begins work on an article asking for testimonials about sexual assault
  • Long standing rumors about Vic being "too handsy, won't sign my Yaoi, is a Christian, and grudges from co-workers" have built up and snowballed into gossip about him being a homophobic pedophile rapist, over 15 years
  • People send sexual allegations and gossip to ANN
  • ANN sees Vic has the most rumors and allegations, probably realize they story can get them lots of clicks, and they probably dislike him too.
  • Marzgurl, Amelia Cook, and others get involved in pre-article smearing on social media.
  • ANN publishes the article, producing false evidence next to testimonials in order to seem legitimate.
  • Huge backlash
  • Vics former co-workers throw him under the bus, with only allegations as well.
  • Funimation person creates fake swatting in an attempt to smear the detractors, it backfires.
  • Gizmondo picks up the story as well, the author has friends within those circles
  • Nick gets in contact with Vic to mount a defense, starts a gofund me, raises $100,000 to sue everyone.
  • His accusers and the media involved have no Lawyers.

The thing is, Troy is almost nonexistent in anime nowadays. I assume someone of Vic's talent could have shifted to a new market, but anime is where most of his fans are. Could his fans move to vidya gaems or whatever? Maybe. Or they might not.

Considering that he's not going to get getting work from Funimation anymore, assuming they survive this, then yeah he should. Even with works in companies like Viz Media, he's not going to get enough to make a sustainable living on. That doesn't mean he should stop finding work within anime companies but he should definitely consider his options within western cartoons where I think he could logically progress to next.

First, how do we save live streams that other people do? I know that I want to save TUG's live stream where he interviews Deneice.
I use a Firefox add-on called Video DownloadHelper, but it's been giving me mixed results on YouTube lately.

I also use ffmpeg to do clipping, cropping, and re-encoding, but it's more of an advanced tool than something a beginner could pick up and start using.

youtube-dl does more or less anything and is sort of a Swiss army knife for streams/video on YouTube. It also uses ffmpeg.

Cody from Anime Outsiders recently met Vic at Pennsylvania Comic Con

I see. I will have to give it a shot. My plan is to archive TUG's Anime Matsuri's stream (since he always takes them down after a couple of days) and when necessary and with his permission, re-upload it on my channel for archiving purpose.

Speaking of, I composed notes on that stream but have forgotten to share with you guys. Most of it isn't notable but I want to highlights a few important things. Howard from Critical Blast was also on there.
  • Founded in 2006 by Denise and her husband, started in 2007 to bring Japanese pop culture in Houston
  • Have been following it, talked to Vic once and a while, staff does legwork
  • Vic confirmed prior to controversy, about two months ago
  • In response to blow-up regarding Vic controversy, Denise called Vic. Said he sounded hurt and felt betrayed. About 35 people in management teaming, brought it to staff team Any evidence of it or was it just hearsay?
  • Never considered uninvited Vic, said that they had similar experience with detractors
  • Received lots of message to drop Vic
  • Mayor has been attending for the past couple of years, event safe enough for him
  • Claims to improve security in case of protest although not worried about it
  • Guest cancellations part of business, said there were only two in November and were not due to Vic
  • Vic is one of the most well-received appearance
  • Expecting 45,000-50,000 attendance prior to the Vic controversy, expect an even larger appearance
  • ThatUmbrellaGuy (and Yellow Flash in this Twitter post) will be attending Anime Matsuri
  • Howard ask Denise what would happen if a guest at the event did do sexual harassment, what kind of accountability would there be. I will transcribe this seeing as the response confused me:
Howard: Hey Denise, with conventions, when talking about conventions handling controversies, I was just curious. We all know what the story is supposed to be about Vic, the things that they say he’s done, the things they’ve alleged about him. If the worst happened and some guest at the convention did these things, provably did them, what kind of accountability would there be on the convention’s part if any? That’s all on him, that has nothing to do with the convention, right?

Denise: Correct, we do believe that it’s a personal issue, um, we take a stand on what’s gonna happen within our convention, at our convention. If that’s a personal matter between Vic and these others, I guess, his legal actions towards others. I mean, that’s something personal. In a way, we’ve kind of had to deal with that too, you know, in our past. Everything is kind of personal but we went ahead and, and took care of it, uh, just saying “what is what happened, but we’re still gonna continue forward”. So, hopefully, um, that’s something the fans and the attendee can also back us up with.

Howard: That’s a positive way to go.

After transcribing this, they are talking about how they will wait until other fans and attendees can back up a sexual assault accusation. Still, it’s a roundabout dodge in to their shady business practices when talking about stuff “dealing with the past”.
  • She holds an innocent until guilty stance, mentions Ty Beard and Nick Rekeita
  • Goal is to bring a wonderful fan experience
  • Will have a panel for Vic and maybe a musical performance. She could also be willing to host the panel discussing the sexual harassment allegations that Vic receives so long as he is comfortable with it and it would not be shoved in other people’s faces
  • Prices go up for 4 days convention on April 1st, they are currently $75
  • TUG asked about preferred hotel and Denise responded with having Hilton America right next to the convention that will be booked for it
  • Claims strong stance against harassment but do not want to dictate to people how to behave in a social environment. Do not want to ban hug, said that people should make good judgment on what to do in a social situation. If security issues happens, the authorities will deal with it and depending on the severity of the matter, can press charges
  • They have 35 upper management leaders and thirty department in their organizations. They also have volunteers. Anticipating 700 people helping versus 600 last year
  • They’ve been preparing 2020 since October of last year.
  • There are security cameras at conventions which includes all public spaces
  • AnimeMatsuri did not donate to this stream
