But even still, it's kind of a problem right...even if a concrete barrier isn't the best option?
Well, that's been the WHOLE PLAN for over a decade. That's why they are continuing with the original barriers. Trump's late to the party and he's just using this as an attention seeking moment.

The best option is minefields and motion detection flame-throwers. If you're looking for a non-violent approach, then yea, a solid barrier is about your only option. Or dig a moat.

Don't think it's attention-seeking. DT was trying to do this because it was a problem that both political parties ignored for years even though they addressed it. So he's taking his opportunity to fix it, as he pointed out in his book, Crippled America.

Well, it's those lawsuits that held up the barriers back in 2006. So it's not really about wanting illegals as it is trying to mitigate the water access to those cattle ranches and quite frankly, a concrete monstrosity wouldn't allow for water access. I think water diversion needs to be apart of the comprehensive building plans. And wanting to steal this land from people for selfish needs is inapprehensible.

Do you seriously not remember that "Build the wall" was like the front and center campaign promise Trump made over two years ago?

And yet somehow it just became a convenient attention-whoring prop all of a sudden?

Yep.

Amateur

Ole Georgie Bush Jr already started this in 2006

Hence the Texas land lawsuits. No one argues with the truth. Trump just took it and stupidly retold an already policy slowly being enacted.

Welllll, they are sticking to the original plan. It takes years to complete such a building initiative. Trump hijacked it and was going to use this for a "success" when Bush and Obama worked on this from California to New Mexico already.

Saw this on tweeter and managed to cringe myself into a leg cramp

I mean jesus fucking christ the Krassensteins are just next level pathetic. Big Nigga Trump cant even tweet about the fucking abstract concept of time without them launching a full on "REEEEEEE TICK TOCK TIME TO IMPEACH FLUMPFFFF!" chimpout

I'm sorry.
Honestly, I feel bad for you. I can almost see your point. The thing to remember about Kiwi Farms is that threads making fun of a certain person are almost always going to be ideologically opposed. So a TDS thread is probably generally going to be in support of Trump's policies. You gotta play ball a bit in these threads, because it's not really supposed to be about actually debating what Trump does. There's the off-topic sections for that.

Don't feel bad. I don't. I came here looking for some opposition.

You're seriously the only person I've ever seen actually trying to make the argument that the wall was in the process of being built, and Trump is just trying to take credit for a project that was already well underway.

That's just embarrassingly wrong, and untrue.

Even the proggiest progressive, and the libbiest liberal, won't deny that the border wall plans as enacted over a decade ago have been non-starters. The notion that Trump just latched onto something that was already being done in an attempt to glom some attention is just flat out ridiculous.

And now we've got politicians on the left seriously calling for sections of existing wall to be torn down.

The points you're trying to make are the opposite of reality. Like, 180 degrees bassackwards.

In late September, Trump once again signed a spending measure for the Department of Homeland Security and a slew of other federal agencies — for temporary funding, this time, through Friday. House Speaker Paul Ryan (Wisc.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), both Republicans, talked him into avoiding the shutdown he had threatened to get his wall money by persuading him that he would have more leverage after the November midterm elections.
The logic behind that, though, was never clear. Republicans were likely to lose seats in the House, decreasing Trump’s power in Congress. That, in fact, happened, as Democrats picked up 40 seats, giving them control of that chamber come January.

“He got played repeatedly by Ryan and McConnell. They kept telling him: ‘We’ll do it, just not now,’” Collender said.

Yes, there were plans that were non-starters and never put into practice, and Trump basically said it needs to be built. How is what you posted (Huff Post, lmao) contradicting that?

It doesn't contradict. It says the plan is to continue the barriers under Bush and Obama. It was started in California in 2006 and stopped during Obama at the New Mexico/Texas border.

Yes, it's the border fence that Bush and Obama promised, but never came even close to delivering. Everybody understands this. This is not a revelation, this is common knowledge.

Trump promised to do what those others guys didn't do, and he's been like a dog with a bone trying to get it done. Trump is not picking up where the last two guys left off. Trump is picking up the ball where they dropped it on the one yard line, and trying his damndest to run with it.

Actually, he's just on the tail end of Texas barrier construction. He wanted to tear down what was already built and place concrete barriers that would cost about a trillion dollars over the next 10 years. He bumped up against Texas city, county, and landowners and their lawsuits.

It is what it is.

Exactly, like I already said, he picked up the border wall ball where the other guys dropped it, and he's doing his damndest to run with it.

Are you seriously going to argue that significant progress had been made on the border wall over the decade prior to Trump taking office?

Um, yeah.

Damn, even Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer won't back you up on that one. Wow, that is really a rare belief you've got there.

Good luck with that.

I think the only reason that article exists by HuffPo is a further attempt by news media to discredit anything from Trump when the MAGApedes say "But he did this..."

That border wall was NUTHIN until Trump tried to push the idea further.
