Bigot Brigade Something Awful and Friends - The roller-coaster train-wreck embarrassing downfall of a Web 1.0 giant and its tick offspring like from Cloverfield

Best case scenario for Lowtax as a job he might be qualified for is a community manager for a shitty low-pop MMO or co-op game. Something like a defunct MMO trying to regain ground through bringing in someone mildly infamous to run the place with wacky shit. I could see Gearbox doing something that dumb but he and CliffyB still probably hate one another

He wrote 10 artciles in 2018 (for his own website) and none of them are really all that good (example - he even has a "did you know Fallout 76 was a bad game?" type article).
Comparatively, Andrew Anglin writes like 10 articles each day for The Daily Stormer. I know that's a weird comparison, but it's always struck me how prolific Anglin is compared to people like Maddox.

Something doesn't add up in Lowtax's statements about ZDR:

ZDR ghosted on him last year.

But here's ZDR this year, arguing about shit, and:
ZDR has a dozen posts about technical crap in the Questions & Comments subforum, all dated this year. Some just a couple of weeks ago.

Either someone is sockpuppeting ZDR's account or Lowtax has fudged some dates.

To be fair if you’re ducking Lowtax posting on the SA forums is a good place to do it. Chances are he won’t ever be there to see it.

It isn't a weird comparison, anytime you compare Lowtax to anyone who gives a shit he falls way behind.

Even goddamn Roosh V (the "Return of Kings dot com" guy, pre hiatus) would get more articles out in a month than Lowtax would in a year. His output is just embarrassing considering how much time he has (and that it is his job).

There are Kiwi Farms posts in A&H that have more effort in them than any of Lowtax's front page articles.

Lowtax is saying that he loaned ZDR $4000 and since then he’s been radio silent. I’m assuming this was after his Christmas beg-a-thon he got $3000+ from goons.

Lowtax - “I did my due diligence on him, trust me. Let me just explain the reason why he disappeared as best I can without getting into personal details: the issue was in, uh, personal problems, ones that would not show up in any resumes or work history documents.”
I believe it. ZDR deleted his entire post history sometime around 2015 when lowtax came back. This caused every thread ZDR ever posted in to break and not display properly. He denies it and claimed it was just a glitch, but it was only his posts and no one else's. If you mention it at all the mods ban or prob you.

When the end finally comes for something awful. It's probably going to be a blink and you'll miss it type of thing. Given it's slow decline the end of something awful could be putting a nearly dead thing out of it's misery

Lowtax is now saying that ZDR's phone was broken (for months?) and he never heard from Lowtax (and Lowtax did not try any other way of reaching him, for months? [that part makes sense. he is that lazy, after all] ) and everyone needs to forget all about ZDR.

I never claimed ZDR was on drugs. I said it was simply something that does not show up on resumes. That's not the case. You guys said it, not me.

Regardless, he suddenly showed up now and began responding to me after that post. His phone was broken and get didn't get any of my text messages and therefore was unable to contact me. Whatever, it's over, don't harass the dude please, our stalk him in other social media shit like Twitter. What's done is done.

Anyways forget ZDR, this is a happy thread. You guys are absolutely the best and I'm still in awe of you all. Before anything like hiring a professional coder can happen, I seriously need to pay off my past, and upcoming debts. Once that's one fuck yeah ...

I choose to believe he read my post and frantically backpedaled before people could realize he was making some part of all that up.

Lastly, he can't brand himself as a "content creator" because he (nor does his site) really create content anymore. There have been ~7 "photoshop Fridays" since 2017

Reading this thread made me curious about SA which I probably hadn't been to in over a decade and I was never a forum user. Photoshop Phriday was an obsession of mine in late high school and early college. I remembered them being irreverent, funny, and somewhat ahead of their time before meme culture. Most of the recent ones are Drumpf humor and not even decently well executed Drumpf humor.

I'll be asking for my archive access fee back

it's sad, the place used to be a really good pile of insanity, artists, etc. and the archives show it. there's almost nothing new there worth reading, for years.

Ahah Lowtax is still pretending he will hire a professional coder once he pays off his (150k) debts. SA is in no danger of closing down even without the patreon money yet goons will give this guy 10k a month for producing nothing.

This is also after he fundraised a bunch of money for a Xenforo migration (I think it was 50k?) that never happened.

This is why I never take people who say "Something Awful will close any day now" seriously. Goons will continue to throw exceptional amounts of money at the Taxman for the foreseeable future. They're the ultimate paypigs.
Lowtax is trolling them more than we or anybody else ever could.

The forums started going downhill in 2003, and it accelerated in 2004. There were some great communities there that were ruined by the admin/moderator team. Current Events, a board created as a post 9/11 news catchall that merged with something else to become D&D, was a surprisingly high quality debate on current events with a broad range of political views. You had to be prepared to backup your arguments well.

elpintogrande was too stupid to contribute properly, so fistgrrl or whatever her name was stepped in and caused the merge because it was unwelcoming (meaning you couldn't just lash out at political foes) and the two started posting heavily overriding the board moderation team, and declared that all rules would be enforced hard core. Disagreeing with a mod was a globally bannable offense on SA, imagine what that did to the quality of debate... Well, we all know what SA became.

At this poit Lowtax is the same as CWC, but his trolls, w3ens and whiteknights have more money to fuck with him
