So many people nowadays are concerned with a coming "Dark Age" that they fail to realize we're in one. We're in a cage so gilded that there are people here who unironically believe that humans are born as good people, and that there's some kind of magical force that will allow us to all get along if we just try hard enough.
Thinking of it brings about a feeling that I can't quite describe but is close to melancholy.
Exactly. The feeling it gives me is remembering childhood, which is a paradise feeling in some ways.
Now people live in eternal childhood, unwilling to bite the apple of knowledge and see the good and evil of this world.
Huxley was right in that the most dangerous thing wasn't bookburnings, but a population so juvenile and overstimulated that it had no interest in reading.
But besides that feeling it also gives me dread. Because most people on my side are politically children.
