It's probably been said here before, but I'll say it anyway.
ResetEra is pretty much Plato's 'Allegory of the Cave' in action.
If you remember anything from any world history classes, philosophy classes, or art history classes that you may have taken then you may have learned about this story, but for those that don't remember or don't know anything about this story then allow me to give you a refresher and have you learn something new.
The 'Allegory of the Cave' is a short story that is presented in Plato's book 'The Republic' where Socrates was telling this short story to Plato's older brother Glaucon to give an example about people's perception of reality.
The story goes like this. There once was a group of prisoners trapped in a cave. These prisoners have lived in this cave since birth and they are all chained up and they are forced to look at the cave wall before them. Behind the prisoners is a fire and between the prisoners and the fire are puppeteers putting objects before the fire where all the prisoners can see are the shadows of the objects and this is what they see as reality.
One day one of the prisoners frees himself from his shackles and he could for the first time move around as he likes. The prisoner begins to ascend from the cave and once he gets to the cave's entrance he sees the real world for the first time in his life. At first he was a bit scared, but the now freed prisoner can see the world for what it is. He sees the sky, he sees the sun, and he sees everything in the natural world around him. The freed prisoner could now see what things really were and can see things more clearly than what was shown to him in the cave.
The now ex-prisoner returns to the cave as he would have pity on the other prisoners still trapped in the cave because they have been denied the truth for so long. However, when the freed prisoner went back to the cave he could no longer see the shadows made by the puppeteers anymore because his eyes are now adjusted to the sunlight. The ex-prisoner tells them all about the things he saw outside the cave, but the other prisoners then threaten to kill the ex-prisoner if he freed them because they believe that him going outside the cave and see the sun for the first time has made him blind and the other prisoners were scared of what was outside of the cave.
This is how ResetEra pretty much works because they're all like the prisoners in the Plato's 'Allegory of the Cave', the ResetEra mods and admins are the puppeteers, the users who question the culture and moderation of ResetEra are like the prisoner that freed himself, and the rest of the users that label any dissenters from ResetEra as unpersons for committing any wrongthink are like the rest of the prisoners in the allegory that are too scared to see the sun for the first time.
Simply put, these speds have proven a Greek philosopher from ancient times right with their hugbox in why some people prefer to remain ignorant and attack anything or anyone that may question their fragile view of the world because they prefer to live in a bubble where any wrongthink isn't allowed in their bubble.
