Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I also find it weird how the entire kick side other than Shane and Renfamous are just balatantly ignoring the entire shitstorm of Sabat and Monica harassing a con owner in general
They are just making petty jabs at Nick making a profit from his videos and treating THAT as some sort of GOTCHA while pretending the whole con harassment thing never even happened

Because lawyer man bad.

They don't want to believe Chris and Monica are "BHEEAD PEOPLE!" But Nick, Vic and every single one of their defenders? I'm surprised they haven't sent Nick death threats yet (then again, I'm far behind in the thread, so maybe they already have).

I fucking HOPE we see something soon. Looking forward to tonight's stream.

Yeah I'd have to honestly ask here: what the hell do they even have? So far it's been PROVEN publicly that people on that side of the isle have edited a video to make Vic look bad, censored faces in pictures and claimed they were victims only for the 'victims' to come out and tell them to stop using their pictures without permission and that it was consented hugging, engaged in textbook TI with a contract and what could very potentially be labelled blackmail/extortion by being schoolyard bullies to a convention owner, of which there may be logs and thus hard evidence of such and AFTER receiving official letters not to delete anything.

The lawyer would probably charge him for time looking over stuff but what afterwards? Is there an incentive to take on a case he knows is textbook in Vic's favor?

There is good incentive for the lawyer. This isn’t a win/lose thing. The moronic client has fucked up horribly. Thus it falls to the incredibly expensive lawyer to come in to try and salvage the mess, and minimize or reduce the costs, all at his own high billable rate. Because he’s still cheaper than a 7 figure judgement.

If the guy is getting paid up front (and I'm sure he's not taking this shit on contingency), my guess is he'll drag this out for as long as he can before the only thing he could do is resort to arguments made in bad faith, and then have to give them the bad news (I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt he ain't Landau).

That means I think he'll at least try for a dismissal under TCPA. Nick suggests that is a given and Beard is tailoring the initial complaint to overcome that most important of hurdles.

But I gotta be honest with you all: I'm not taking Ron's comment at face value that that guy is his lawyer. I would expect some sort of confirmation for that. After all, that's what KickVic demanded before the five magic words were uttered.

There is no Contingency here. Ron and Monica are the Defendants, not the plaintiffs. There isn’t even a mechanism for recovering legal costs. Every dollar spent on Lawyers is gone for them. And ain’t nobody gonna crowdfund up $100 grand for Soy Toye.

And there isn’t that much dragging out they can do. There aren’t really any jurisdictional issues to stretch out. I’m sure they could stretch some things out. But Vic is sitting on a $100k+ legal war chest BEFORE he touches his personal assets. Even if Monica/SoyToye and Vic have similar personal asset pools, Vic remains well ahead of the game. With the potential to likely double his legal fund if needed. The people who might otherwise donate to Monica at least, the anime dub houses, are pretty much precluded from doing so. They don’t want to take any further ownership of this shit. Certainly not the Con piece of it.

Of course he is profiting from it!

Jesus fucking Christ they're all a bunch of teenage commies. Of course someone who provides valuable and interesting content should make a profit from it. He delivers an expert take on a subject that engages literally tens of thousands of people, a take that only someone like him (being a lawyer) can deliver. The fact that people donate through superchats proves this quite well, people are throwing their own money at him because they enjoy his content.

Heck, I'd profit from this if I could. Hell I should write a book on it once the lawsuits drop.

But to be clear, PULL are also the ones that started crying when someone started selling "istandwithvic" bracelets (those rubber ones you put on your wrist). They don't like the fact that people make a profit on something they're passionate about.

This does make sense though. They don't have the support to actually make money while supporting their cause. Which is dumb, because said money could go to legal fees (because boy will their "heroes" need it) or to a charity, a sexual abuse one or a women's shelter for example. But no, because money bad.

Fair reasoning, but why would he lie?

Why would anybody lie on the Internet?

I'm saying that any moron can find a lawyer online and say "that's my lawyer." The transparency of being able to find out who and who isn't a lawyer is why people with more than two brain cells to rub together know that Nick is a lawyer.

I'm not saying that he isn't his lawyer. I'm just saying, with Ron's severe credibility issues, I will personally hold off in believing him until I see some sort of confirmation.

I personally think it's foolish not to. I have no problem with saying "Ron says he has a lawyer."

I skipped from page 336 to here. If anything substantial has happened, can someone update me?

Just don't wash your hair every god damn day. Your skin naturally produces oils that keep the scalp healthy and if you wash it every day you wash those oils out which dries out the scalp and causes it to flake.Do it every other day at a maximum or every 3 days at a minimum
Why I love this place. Get scalp health advice in the middle of shitting on people. 10/10 fuck New Zealand.

Nick has it on pretty good authority that Sabat, Monic Rial, Ron and Shane were involved in browbeating the owner of Kamehacon con for 3 hours into dropping Vic. They about to get it up the ass hard with the full power of the justice boner if this is true

Ok look I believe this story as much as the next guy but something feels......fishy. Not to question our Lord and Saviors Nick's integrity as he has no reason to lie (as far as I am aware of) but like how does he know this was the owner of Kamehacon and why can't we see the 3 hour text message of Sabat and Rial harassing the dude? I'm sorry, I feel a little skeptical about it.

I'm always going to say "if this is true" when I don't know personally and am accusing someone like Rial or Soye or snake-in-the-grass Sabat of a literal crime, but if Nick is just making this up or got played, his credibility is instantly gone and he's even subject to bar discipline.

Nick isn't going to fuck up like that.

I’m sure all the people complaining about Nich “a Lawyer!” Profiting from providing commentary on a niche news story, fall over themselves rushing to watch the parade of experts every night on msnpc, cnn etc. most of whom are “lawyers!”

Because if they acknowledge what they've been doing the direness of their situation becomes real.

These pussies have been able to hide behind keyboards and mean texts, they created a layer between them and their targets to make it more palatable for them to do this shady shit. They have to cling to their accusations, unperson their enemies, and fervently deny the harassment and very real lawsuit coming towards them because they might actually feel some sort of base human emotion for a split second like guilt, anxiety, or fear.

At this point they have to convince themselves the people they aren't are undeserving of basic human decency otherwise everything they have done would've been for nothing. It's sunk cost fallacy on an autistic scale.

Yea Nick is basically defaming them at this point if his info is incorrect. I doubt he would go that far without a very credible source.

Nick a day or two before the stream tweeted about "waiting for confirmation before I say anything"
So I assume he found some sort of confirmation, what that confirmation is? I have no clue
not saying it's 100% but I doubt he would worry about confirmation before speaking then turn around and speak before confirming

Plus, I'm sure Vic is saving some lawyer fees from having a whole network of people finding/aggregating the publicly available evidence for the lawsuit for free.

Yea Nick is basically defaming them at this point if his info is incorrect. I doubt he would go that far without a very credible source.

Since he's not acting as a lawyer in any capacity to the parties involved, he likely enjoys some degree of journalistic protection in that he's simply reporting on information provided to him by a source. It's really, really unlikely that he made any of it up, so if chips do hit the fan he can always point out where he received the information from and in the event that it seems likely that the source made up a bunch of bullshit, all he needs to do is issue an apology and retract his statements, just like the news media does when it gets things wrong.

Unless he becomes truly exceptional and keeps pushing it, he's not going to get disbarred. Lawyers have to fuck up a lot for something like that. Look at someone like Jack Thompson who was a complete jackass and full of shit for years and years before the bar association finally got sick and tired of his shit. Sure Nick comes across as righteously pissed, but he still seems to keep his composure. His whole delivery feels very much like he's making an argument to a jury, only he can get away with calling people garbage human beings, which is still pretty damned restrained as far as shitslining on the internet goes.

If this shit were fake, those idiots would have already pounced on it. They know it's real, or at least close enough to the truth that any technicality isn't going to matter. They can't play a long game or lay clever bait. They're too foolish and I would hope that Nick's seen enough bullshit over the years to know if something smells funny.
