Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I think we're getting horse-blinders on Sabat, honestly.

Beard said they're looking at someone not employed by the two companies they're looking at (Funi and RT).

It could be argued that he's an employee of Funi due to him being a VA for their shows.

I think we need to widen the net out a little and include other influencers from places like Crunchyroll. They're not employed by either animation studio, they absolutely would have convention influence, and one of the top bubbas at CR could be vice principal of the company as well.
But it also has to be someone Nick would know, or who Ty would assume Nick would know. Because when Nick said he thought he knew who Iago was, Ty interrupted him and made sure he wouldn't say the name. That limits the pool of who it could be by quite a lot.

I started slogging through Sabat's panels on youtube. I did find this one here from 2015 where at 15:35 he is asked what it's like to work with Vic. He seems to only have good things to say, but does mention that Vic is a "polarizing dude, some people either love him or hate him".

Is there a way to archive videos in case I stumble across anything good?

So this entered my head on the way to work this morning while catching up the thread, and I had to get it out.

Not entirely. While Ty stopping Nick could be interpreted as stopping him from spilling the beans, it could also be to protect Nick from naming someone not involved in the process at all, potentially muddying the waters. As far as people Nick should know, the co-owner of the largest anime streaming service would be someone he should be familiar with, at least during discovery.

Ok, saying this now: This is complete speculation on my part. I could be wrong, but I wanted to run this by you guys and see what you think:

We've all seen Ron repeatedly talk shit and antagonize pretty much anyone seen as his enemy. My bf mentioned that this sounds like someone that's trying to keep the limelight on himself for as long as he can. This made the gears in my head start running like crazy and I'm now starting to think that Ron is doing this not only to help Monica, but because, for once, people are talking to HIM about HIS actions.

Think about it: Monica is the bigger name in the relationship. Thus, he's probably only seen by most as Monica's bf/fiance, at least to those who even knew he existed. I can't be the only one who had never heard of Ron until this clusterfuck started. Suddenly, he's finds that people have finally noticed him. People are tweeting at him and ONLY him. In many cases, these tweets don't even elude to Monica. I know it's kinda fucked, seeing how the attention he's now getting isn't anything close to positive, but I don't think he sees it like that. In his simple, deluded mentality, all that matters is that people finally know he exists. People are finally talking to him.

I also think that this is why he loses his shit whenever people point out that he's only involved with this because he's Monica's little bitch boy. He wants to hold on to the delusion that he's actually contributing to their "cause". If he were to listen to people and actually shut the fuck up for once, he'd be right back to where he was before all of this started: he'd be irrelevant. And one of the biggest lessons I learned from GamerGate is that these people will do damn near anything to stay relevant.

Doing a bit of Google law, I found that extortion in Texas is charged as theft. The penalty here is dependent on the amount of value lost. Since thousands of dollars minimum are likely involved over this, that means it's a guaranteed felony, probably a state jail felony (lowest level, but still 180 days-2 years in jail, fine of up to $10K). If it's more than 30K, that's a third degree felony (2-10 years in jail, fine). No idea how much money was involved in this contract or convention (a couple pages back said it was a five-figure amount).

Am I reading the law right? "Iago"/possibly more could be in for a world of hurt and wind up convicted felons out of this.

If people wanna explore other possibilities about who Iago is, I'm totally fine with that. Hell, maybe somebody else could fit the mold as much as Sabat does.

But I'm laughing my ass off at the people who thinks it's Sevakis or Bertschy.

In fact, I'm (sadly) convinced, after last night, that ANN isn't really a priority target right now. And maybe they shouldn't be given the fact the target list is large, and resources are finite. We have an emotional desire to see them go the way of Gawker, for the lulz. Clearly however, we're finding out that there are FAR more dangerous people in this industry.

Would you mind writing a very brief summary for those of us who aren't anime weebs?

Basically Broly and Vegeta were recently born, King Vegeta thinks that his son is going to be the strongest and best because he is an Elite class Saiyan above the low and mid class. Broly, a low class Saiyan is brought into the same chamber due to him having an elevated power level, to the point its higher than Vegetas already. It gets to the point where its speculated that he could be the Legendary Super Saiyan which infuriates King Vegeta. King Vegeta ends up getting Broly cast out to a far out planet with no worth, or humanoid creatures, as pretty much a death sentence. Paragus, Brolys father, leaves and then hijacks a ship to reunite himself with Broly and save him. Broly is found and has killed some of the natural life on the planet which is absurdly strong. 5 years pass as they are isolated but surviving on the planet.

Its more the basic idea, which I guess is just underhanded conflict and jealousy that are kind of reflected, that I can see a sort of similarity. Maybe its just drawing parallels from conflict which will naturally in a lot of separate cases have a connection with themes in fiction. But the ideas of power levels as popularity and fans, how people treat themselves as higher beings than the lowly fans, and being cast out for potentially having too much of that spotlight seem to resonate with this. Sabat sees whats partially come from his studio which is the success of Vic, sees these crowds for Vic compared to his cohorts, sees Vic engaging in such a way with lowly people rather than holding himself above everyone. Sabat gets jealous gets Vic blacklisted from all of these huge conventions and panels for Vic to only be able to go to smaller obscurer events, while all the high worth conventions keep Sabats cohorts. This is probably just autism but I feel it.

Edit: Also King Cold and Frieza show up and eventually destroy the planet Vegeta. They'd probably be the law or more representation for Ty and Nick

Nick said in his stream the other night that Toye is the mouthpiece bitchboy for Sabat and Rial. It's my interpretation that he's keeping eyes on him to keep eyes off of them, but maybe he likes feeling important from all the attention too. Tweeting 400 times about Vic makes him unhinged either way.

Who's the Kiwi who made the "Uh oh!" Nick Rekieta .gif, get on making that second one with the head banging, man.

As before, that's an animated PNG. See the awful GIF version attached if that's not animating in your browser.

We need a "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?" gif, I think. It's at least as iconic as his Uh-oh.

I gave it some thought, but I can't think of an ironically low-effort way to animate his poorly-cropped head that would match the sentiment. Any suggestions?

Is there a way to archive videos in case I stumble across anything good?
Youtube-DL is a little user-unfriendly since it's a command-line program, but it'll suck down vids from YouTube and pretty much any other notable media site you throw at it.

We assumed that this was simply an internet based club of seemingly high school dangerhaired and fujoishs “mean girls” picking on and blacklisting anyone that didn’t fit their standards. Something that dwelled mainly on social media and the niche press. What we are seeing instead is that is largely superficial fluff, being manipulated by what would appear to be a underlying business for lack of a better word, cartel. A group of highly unethical players using monopolistic and unfair business practices to control the Texas animation industry, related cons, and to forcefully drive out any participants that do not answer to them.

God help me, while I don’t see anyone doing this, because “fuckin’ Weebs! Ick!” I’m starting to see some potential pathways where a clever and enterprising prosecutor could possibly raise the specter of RICO or Of Enterprise Corruption. And that mostly surrounds the bullying of the Cons and the hiring of disfavored individuals. While Vic is the prominent victim of this industry Scarlett Letter and campaign of threats, it appears he was not the first. Nor, given how they’ve reacted regarding Todd Habercorn, the last. This doesn’t seem to simply be the danger haired feminist mafia shrieking #metoo! There are some shady and suspect business practices going on behind all of that. And it is doubtful the shrieking dangerhairs even realize it.

I hate having to get up early for work. At least it looks like the Texas mafia as gonna get absolutely reamed

So what youre saying is Soye Toye should team up with Sargon?

Sargon is... sadly... a hell of a lot more relevant than Soye Toye. He's almost certainly gonna get that gold play button if TY doesn't shoah him before he hits 1M.

Soye Toye is simply Monica's pet.

I'm convinced that Iago is miles
Sabat seems too much of a main player to be pushed back into the second round of litigation
Miles being in the second round makes more sense in my eyes

I think it's Sabat, but you make a good point that it might be a good thing if it weren't. That would mean Sabat is still in play for round 1.
