Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Going by these parameters, then your prime suspect is none other than Adam Sheehan.
Credentials:
  • (December 2004 – December 2011) Conventions and Events Manager at FUNimation Entertainment
  • (February 2010 – June 2015) Marketing Manager at FUNimation Entertainment
  • (2015-present) Director of Events at Crunchyroll and VRV

  • Hates Vic Mignogna
  • "Friends" with Todd Haberkorn. When Todd responded back to Jessie Pridemore, Sheehan threw him under the bus.
UPDATE: Corrected the dates of the positions he held.

Good call, I'll go ahead and repost his archived tweets on the situation since this thread is deep as fuck and people might need a refresher:

Texas is an at-will state. Why would Sabat and them wait and give themselves a reason to go after Vic when they could fire him at any point? If none of this happened, would this mean that they all were just going to deal with Vic until he retired or something?

Because, IIRC something mentioned way earlier in the thread, there was speculation that Toei might have forced Vic onto Funimation as opposed to one of Sabat's clique getting the role of Brody.

Toei wanted a big name voice actor for the role, especially since they've put the weekly Dragon Ball show on permanent hiatus while they focus on movies for the franchise for the time being. For whatever reason, they settled on Vic whereas Sabat and company wanted an in-house VA to play Broly.

They couldn't just fire him at will, because their Japanese masters explicitly wanted Vic and defying them could create all sorts of problems for Funimation in terms of blowback from Toei being openly defied like that.

So they decided the best way to get rid of Vic was to evoke #MeToo and falsely accuse him of sexual misconduct, with the added bonus that it would let them settle old grudges and scores at the same time against someone who had been a longtime thorn in the SJW death kult's side.

People keep bringing up At-Will without understanding it doesn’t have any bearing here. At-Will only applies to regular employees or contractors who do not have individual specific contracts with the employer. In the case of Individual Contracts the Contract supersedes the At-Will status. Named Actors are pretty much always Individual Contract. So At-Will does not apply. Funi would still need a reason to cancel the contract, depending on the terms of the contract.

And it was obvious that terminating Vic was not Funi’s main desire. Remember there was a prior investigation that was unfounded. Funi was not searching for a reason to let Vic go. They were facing similar pressure and mafia tactics that we see with Kamehacon Con. The VA Cartel brought this to Funi and demanded action. What is also 8mportant to note is there does not seem to be any new or current claim of abuse that triggered this. Rather it was a rise in Vic’s prominence due to a popular role.which immediately makes it suspect.

The ragging on Nick’s Office kind of shows their true nature as Hipster Elitist Douchebags. And is a great example of why everybody hates them. Nick’s “shed” is simply a prefab steel frame building, of the sort that are incredibly common in rural Missouri, which is where he practices. They are the common light commercial building in those areas. Nothing unusual. Nothing derogatory. Unless you are a city dwelling hipster snob. And Renfamous knows this. For all her airs she is from butfuck nowhere Texas.
That's where a lot of that comes from. These hipsters grew up being the weird kid that didn't fit in in some rural or semi-rural community then left for the big city and now look down upon the life they left. They don't seem to understand (or want to understand) that most of the people aren't "trapped" there, they chose it. Small town charm is lost on them.

It's not an uncommon view for urbanites.

Would he be a "vice-principal" of an organization, then? That moniker applies to someone outside the official structure but with firing and hiring powers. Sheehan is a direct employee.
I can't find the texas statute, but this appears to be a quote from texas law. I need to go watch basketball or i'd look into further.
The definition of “vice principal encompasses: (a) corporate officers; (b) those who have authority to employ, ( c) those engaged in the performance of nondelegable or absolute duties of the master; and (d) those to who the master has confided the management of the whole or a department or a division of the business.” Id.

This is why I'm saying it is possibly Kun Gao. He's stepped down from GM to advise operations. He also brokered a cross-promotion with Funination that ran from 2016-2018. He would still have influence over the company he created, while not being a direct employee of the company.

There's no limitation on the vice-principal designation that restricts them to be outside the official structure, AFAIK. In fact, most of the time I've seen it used it is in relation to someone employed by the company the are a vice-principal of.

What in the fuck is wrong with Ron? He just got papers that said not to delete shit. He just said he wasn't going to talk about Vic anymore. Why is he doing this?

Protecting a Twitter account doesn't actually delete tweets. It just makes it so they can only be seen by people who mutually follow you, if I recall correctly. (It's been argued deleting tweets doesn't actually "delete" them either in terms of completely removing them from Twitter's databases, so it's possible even deleted tweets can be recovered if they subpoena Twitter.)

Missouri, which is where he practices

Yes, a small law firm in central Missouri.

He's in Minnesota.

The only person who has been directly called a "vice principal" by anyone is Sabat, and Nick Rekieta called him that in the stream before last.

It's also completely irrelevant to the tortious interference claim. If you interfere with someone's contractual relations, whether they're at-will, or a written contract, or even an informal agreement to negotiate a contract, in Texas, that's TI, period.

It would only be relevant if he sued Funimation. And in that case, he had a specific contract, so its terms would control whether they had the right to do that.

And even if they had the right to terminate the contract at any time, it would still be TI. They can't get themselves off that hook no matter how much they screech about irrelevancies.

That is actually very, very plausible. I was mistaken about the at-will thing. I didn't look into it enough.

And I am pretty much believing that the investigations in the summer of 2018 (which was stated by a Funimation employee) and the investigations of January-February were conducted identically. That's why it was never stated by Funimation whether Vic was guilty of harassment or not, yet putting that they don't condone harassment, which is a mistake if they didn't find evidence of harassment.

But I do wonder if these people pulled the same tactics in the summer 2018 investigation.

I also have another theory, but I don't know if it's been mentioned already in this thread, or if it's even plausible. Maybe I'm on drugs; I don't know.

What if Funimation and Rooster Teeth were treating Vic like Disney did with James Gunn (when he was fired and then rehired when the stuff hovering the Fox buyout was happening)? Waiting for the bullshit to blow over to avoid the negative press with both Funimation (Dragon Ball Super: Broly) or RoosterTeeth (RWBY and gen:LOCK), then rehiring him at some point later. They should know that all of this is happening by now, on top of the Kameha Con stuff, and the fact that they're not doing anything about it goes to show unwillingness to be consistent when it comes to morality and standards. All of this will negatively affect them. But what if that's the point? What if, in Funimation's, people like Sabat and Rial were a problem? We're now seeing that criminal activity could be a big possibility now from all of this. No studio in California has fired him from what we know, I believe. Funimation might have plans to rehire Vic, and leave the accusers out to dry as a result of all of this.

This is all just conjecture, of course.

I know that. The problem with him doing this is that he can alter or do anything he wants while only the people who can see his tweets now can see what he tweeted. Stuff isn't actually deleted. It's either archived or with Twitter.

I don't understand what he accomplishes by protecting his tweets, especially now. If he's trying to block "harassment", he could either ignore it (which would have been the smartest choice he made this whole time) or disable notifications of block people. Instead, he keeps protecting his account, which doesn't make him look good whatsoever. At some point, if he unprotects his tweets, he's going to be encountered by the "harassers" on social media again.

Something tells me his lawyer said he was fucked, and decided to do this. Or La Choy is continuing to be a dirty idiot.

Anyone know what Renfamous office looks like? I hope she isn't throwing rocks in glass houses.

Is she even employed? Free Willie has been Tweeting nonstop every hour it seems like.

Protecting his Tweets in theory “unpublishes” them, while preserving them. So it somewhat cures the ongoing defamation. Something his lawyer would insist he do.

  • Agree
Reactions: Least Concern

Not argued, fact. Twitter holds on to deleted tweets for 10 years incase of shit like this

She's done accounting but as far as I can tell now, tweeting 24/7 at home is her job now.

Renfamous is a confirmed unemployed accountant...during tax season. That speaks to her incompetence.

It's suspected that she's on the payroll of Weber-Shandwick given the inhuman frequency and doggedness of her tweets. This is veering into comicsgate territory but a bunch of high-profile people in the comics industry pay attention to her and Kwanzer (cow thread) is a director of said company. So putting her on the payroll would be easy.
