I'm not going to lie. Conventions elsewhere are also pretty decadent affairs of fandom indulgence, good and bad, compared to Japan. It's quite an affair of celebration and social congregation, pretty much.
Unfortunately, this can also mean for some people to get the idea that they need the world to know that they're the best in this fandom or something at cons, all while piggybacking off of the intellectual and imaginative creations of another. I understand the need to fill in the void in one's life, but convention drama shenanagains as we can see don't cut it.
Good luck finding a con that's run by neither -- they invade and take them over with politics and behind-the-scenes bannings. The more potential and popular, the sooner and more hostile.
You'd have better luck making your own at the small local level in a college -- that's what I and my sister did.
Only reason it died was because our-then president thought it was a good idea to try and gamble that money in stocks.
Call me optimistic, but I think with how Weeb Wars is going, and if it's going to go where we know it's going to (ie massive lawsuit courtroom suing), this ripple just might cause the intended effect.
Over the past decade, everyone's been tried and put through the SJW shit. Now that they've hit more culturally sensitive and international boundaries, among something more underground and niche with a diehard fandom, this is the example of the dumbass that digs at an anthill and doesn't know what kind of ants are in there. Everyone is very tired of petty bullshit technicalities, strange manifestations of societal and sexual frustrations and closet baggage turned abusive projection, and the cowardice of manipulating public opinion with string pulling artistic expression and popular culture. And for anime fans, oh, believe me, their zeal and devotion to source material, as well as respect for dubbing and localization efforts has been what has been driving this one sided game of hardball to the last inning.
And to conventions, and in this case anime conventions, this will be no exception. That's the surface of the ocean of fandom right there as much as subscriber bases and the hands down money on hard copy sales. With how badly Funimation has been acting as localizers and the massive, massive web of conspiracy they've tied back to, this has been unveiling something long ignored in the US anime community.
Conventions are just as much of a vital organ due to how it not just revitalizing, rejuvenating, and expanding fandom interests, but voice actors get paid, overseas creators get exposure to a side of the world and get further feedback and realization that their work is worth something, and it does bring a sense of community and unification that allows interest in anime to go on and get bigger.
The moment the SJWs began entering into the mix, that began atrophying hard. SJWs don't know how to act human. They can't be honest with their feelings and instead turn to some delusional ideal that has never been practiced nor is practical in the real world. Because of that, the practice some fucked up things out of vindication and not being able to accept reality. When people begin following that, human society honestly does break down. I'll recant the story again from SJW Art and Extremes: One acquaintance I knew began following hardcore last end of last year SJW faggotry and was hardcore fujoshi rallying the shit out of Final Fantasy XV characters and Marvel Cinematic Universe actors, and selfishly excluded anyone who wasn't talking about them with her and only that with her. She then began dying her hair metallic silver purple and cut it short, and also began wearing problem glasses. Later on when she was asking and rating our tastes in music, I gave out the answer of Daisuke Ishiwatari. She went "EWWWWW" and gave me a 0/10 because "metal and rock n roll is masculine and problematic and sexist". Later on that week, she began trending SJW shit and later unfriended me out of nowhere. Again, SJW faggotry isn't a mentality or a viewpoint, it's a fucking disease. And scunts like her are walking all over conventions these days.
But I'll say this too, again: We aren't alone in this. Anime is where the troons and deluded soy blooded jackasses really fucking hit rock bottom, as we have seen. We've seen shit the pure virtue signaling ego inflator known as High Guardian Spice. We've heard about the politicizations of anime dubs by Monica and her crony ass writers. We know about the attempts of entertainment industry stringpulling and sailwhoring faggots like Zac Bertschy, Hope Jacob Chapman, Lynzee Loveridge, Mike Toole, Bamboo Dong, and Christopher MacDonald have been trying to do since 1998 because they can't let go of their nostalgia, all of the high school wedgies they got for liking anime, and have such levels of OCD self awareness that want to use anime to champion their "cultural justice throughout the world" or whatever baizuo fathead American Exceptionalist bullshit they eat out of their asses.
We all know this too well by now, and the ball is in our court because they decided to fuck with an innocent self made man who hasn't done shit but just be himself, and are trying to throw him to their table to feast on like the damned wolves they are. All because he didn't sign a fucking doujin of Edward Elric and Roy Mustang fudgepacking it up the ass for some spoiled dumbshit weeaboo bitch going through the same bullshit retard motions of sucking dick through the JET program. All because he "dares" to be a pious and faithful man with a lot of heart and isn't afraid to be the opposite of the asshole street preachers and Jim Jones wannabes that's giving all Christians a bad name since society grew a brain.
And I am no prophet, but next year is a new decade. And I'm very sure it's in our natural disposition to want a new cultural slate every decade or so. Go ask Milli Vanilli and Televangelism about the turn into the 1990s, and see how they fared when everyone got done with their shit into that era's transition. Hell, not to be mean, but hit up Johnny Depp about 21 Jump Street if you're interested in his own cultural revolution when the 1990s hit and how tired he was of the wholesome teen actor idol image and decided doing Tim Burton movies just to spite FOX. Fucking hell, go look up the history of disco while you're at it.
And as soon as those dumbfucks DOA enter the courtroom, I'm very, very sure that a lot of anime fans are going to feel a whole lot different about SJW "values" and self righteous baizuo "progressiveness" when the verdicts get through. And I know conventions are going to feel this impact just as hard when the crowds decide to vote with their wallets and their feelings on this matter.
tl;dr; I think we just came across this decade's Disco Destruction Night cultural phenomena. And SJWs are right on the receiving end of it.
Call me mad, but I want blood. They don't call me I Love Beef for no reason.
