This is very true. Also remember Rebecca Schaffer.You would never NOT have security at a signing event. By virtue of being well-known enough to be invited to cons she'd be potentially in danger at a public signing even if she weren't embroiled in drama. Remember that youtube singer who was killed a couple years ago? She was doing signing/photos with the fans herself, I believe, and some random guy with an obsessive crush walked up to her and shot her in the face, killing her. What's absurd is that she's somehow 'safer' with less security at a smaller venue that's easier to get into where less people will be paying attention, filming, and watching her.
I guess I don't get why she made an announcement about it. Don't get me wrong I don't want her to die. It just seems odd since it's such a small convention
I guess I'm picturing more bodyguard types as opposed to event security
