He only had a night time 18+ panel that day. No autographs scheduled for the time of that VA panel either.

https://zenkaikon2019.sched.com/

And they advertised him because they had him on the panel. Having one panel a day is probably a minimum in his contract, I doubt there's a maximum. I'd think most cons would be happy to have a guest want to participate as much as possible and he was obviously okay to do 2 since he was scheduled that way until Monica asked to be taken off.

If he had to switch conventions that day, then what Nick said is still valid. If he really had a contract to participate in no more than one panel, then Zenkaikon has issues considering that they previously had him on for the panel with Rial that day. And besides, why would Rial ask to leave anyway?

Yeah, that's the thing. Rial says that his contract restricted him to one panel a day (ok, how do you know what's in HIS contract, unless you meant to say the contract that all of you received, but still, how would you know?), but if that's the case, why would they advertise him on the panel until they didn't?

(Heads up-- whoever did the archive on that panel page is ?, because Google caches are apparently useless in the long run.)

...wait, this actually vindicates Rekieta, doesn't it? She said that she wanted to be removed from the panel but then they ended up removing Todd instead, strongly implying that she explicitly stated that she wanted to be removed from the panel because of Todd. She says nothing about renegotiation after they apparently didn't do what they asked of her, and she still stays on the panel.

It seems like a weaker act of TI via extortion, if I have any idea of what I'm talking about.

I'm thinking it's more they are contracted for at least one a day. Since Todd had w that day, and likely Monica only one, the con cleared or avoided any conflict with them by moving him. Which was probably the correct thing for the con to do in the moment. But it does not in any way diminish the shitty thing Monica did to Todd. She has no accusations against him and no legit fears. What she did was simple bullying. Why would any con want to put up with 4th Bulma's shit?

Yeah, I'm trying to think of a reason why a con would contractually force a popular guest to not do more than one panel a day, and not coming up with anything. It's not like they'd have to pay them overtime or something. I don't recall hearing a maximum in the contract Nick read, though there was a minimum IIRC. So looks like we're collectively pressing X on the whole "he couldn't do two panels!" line until shown evidence otherwise.

Someone less lazy than me could scour the schedule and see if there are any other guests who did more than one panel a day.

I'm less lazy. Both the other VAs that appeared on that panel had other panels on the same day.

Austin TIndle had two panels on Friday, 3 panels on Saturday. Michaela Dietz had 3 panels on Saturday.

This just in: Monica Rial is a lying piece of shit.

His lawyer would have a stroke if this is something that happened after he hired the lawyer. For a number of reasons. Not the least of which you don’t discuss settlement discussions in public while they are ongoing or if there is the possibility of settlement. This dipshit just undermined his own lawyer, and proved to opposing council that he is completely untrustworthy and a bad actor. Plus it likely adds to the defamation. He just cannot seem to grasp the concept that he needs to shut up now. What is with these Millenial dipshits that every aspect of their lives must be played out online? They can’t not share. They can’t give up that endorphin rush of “hey everybody look at me!!!” I’m honestly starting to believe some of the otherwise pointless speculation regarding Ron’s emotional baggage and why he’s engaged to a surrogate for his mother. Because normal actual adults would have shut the fuck up by now. As examples take note of both Vic and Richard Meyer. Notice how they have ended all public discussion regarding the legal issues or parties involved? That’s called adulting. Most people are good at it. The Texas VA mafia is clearly not.

All of that's true but there might also be a strategic element involved. It wouldn't surprise me if it's an attempt to appeal to Vic's better nature along the lines of "the only people who are going to win are the lawyers, and they don't care about the fandom - let's work this out between ourselves". It may even work. This is as much an interpersonal dispute as a business one.

No, wait, it might have been Todd's specific contract that prevented him from doing more than one panel a day, which begs the question: how would she know what's in his contract?

I agree.
Why would Todd talk to her about his contract?
Or why would the con talk to her about his contract?

What count as a "panel" exactly? Rial had a Q&A and a CONversation on March 23. Todd had just the story time thing in the nighttime.

Because, if she can do two panels and Todd only does one that day, how does Rial know that Todd could only do one a day? Did Todd tell her anything? Or what?

Todd never messaged back Nick about whether his source about Zenkaicon is truthful or not.

Nick doesn't buy that story:

Todd might have told her about it as a friend, but why would he then have told Nick essentially "no comment" on the topic. He could have cleared Monica's name and said the story was false, but he didn't. And why would only his contract be limited to one panel/day?

All signs point to Nick's source being accurate.

According to Zenkaikon's site both the Q&A and CONversation are panels. Both are listed as "Panels-Workshops" and CONversation's details say "SIGN-UPS FOR THIS PANEL ARE TAKEN AT CON ONLY".

I don't fucking buy it either. Zenkaicon had Todd on the panel before it was set to happen, meaning that they contracted him to be on the panel along with the story time session. They knew he was coming to the panel; why did they remove him at the last moment?

Also, Nick tweeted this:

Could Todd be a liability right now?

Can't even get to sleep after Nick hinted at how much of a shame it would be if "someone got fired for refusing sex" and "skeletons"...
So I've read the whole story up to the the current point and it's all crazy and everything, but I have to wonder, who the fuck is still watching dubbed anime in 2019?‽

When I was younger I preferred subs. Now that I am old I prefer dubs (unless they are absolutely awful). I think it has something to do with my advancing boomer brain. I want to be able to watch what's happening instead of keeping up with the reading, which was never a problem back in the day when I was able to text and drive without an issue (and I mean the old hit a button 4 times to get one letter type of txt). It is nice to rewatch for subs though once I've gotten the visuals burned in.

The undisputed thing gleaned from all this, that even Monica cops to, is that she very much didn't want to be on the same panel as Todd. So even if we buy her bullshit that she tried to remove herself, that seems to imply she's running scared.

What I'm less clear about is whether she's scared of Todd, or whether she's scared of the fact that Ty represents both Todd and Vic. I think she'd love to put up a front alleging the former, but it's probably the later.
