Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

At least one of the guys involved in editing it seems like a neutral but anime knowledgeable general Wiki guy.

I still think the whole thing looks fishy and possibly open to a Ryulong-ing.

The issue, as I see it, is that they're going to claim he meets WP:WELLKNOWN, thus circumventing the restrictions in place with regard to WP : CRIME. It's shitty, but we really haven't answered the threshold question as to whether he's a public figure, limited public figure, or non-public figure, and I can already tell you the outrage mob is gonna err on the side of him being a celebrity. I have my doubts an edit war is gonna yield results at this point. Wikipedia allows you more leeway if you're writing about a public figure, and you have "reliable sources" (again, ANN and Polygon are not that in a sane world, but I don't make the rules in this insane one).

ANN needs to be Gawkered on the basis that there's not many anime news sources, and since "necessity is the mother of all invention" we'll hopefully see a better one some day if they're immolated.

In theory.

In theory, Communism also works.

But, either way, burn ANN to the ground on general principle.

Just make sure to save the encyclopedia.

Ironically, the only good part of ANN is the part that Wikipedia doesn't consider a reliable source (because it's user edited).

Somebody should just copy the fucking thing at this point, but change the formatting. They don't and can't own the raw data entered into it.

Pretty sure My Anime List contains most, if not all of that information already.

This too. I think.

I don't really use MAL. Its main draw seems to be cataloging how big of a weeb you are by checking off all the shit you've watched.

I'm not going to get into this but anyone who does Wikipedia should take a look at their Vic Mignogna article and the high level of activity regarding these defamatory allegations. I frankly suspect this bullshit is not up to WP:BLP standards and some editors appear to be pushing an agenda (yeah what else is new).

Note: scumbag lawyers have in the past edited Wikipedia articles and then cited them in their cases. While I doubt this specific thing is going to happen or that any defense lawyers are doing this, it's pretty obvious there's a high chance of kickvic scumbags being directly involved in this.

I'd suggest anyone who talks to Nick about this kind of shit give him a heads-up and if it's remotely relevant (and has not already been done) maybe the Beard firm should look at it.

Not to be paranoid, but the standard SJW mode of activity on shit like this is to place articles in friendly garbage media, trash that is about as reliable as a partisan's personal blog post that would not be accepted about anything but an SJW target, then their friendly little wikipedo buddies cite their fake news article to put their smears into the public record as somehow "encyclopedic." Etc. etc.

Might be tinfoil on my part but I don't like the look of this article at all.

Nah, you're right on the money.

Try looking up Calgary Expo Lawsuit and Honey Badger in the same search line -- Wikipedia's guilty of this shit all the time.

It's only real use to anyone is as a litmus test to if a seasonal show is worth watching;

If progressives bitch about something, watch that show. If they praise it, avoid it like the plague.

Slightly off topic as this does not concern Vic directly but another accusation against poketubers and I bring this up because I believe this shed some light on the kickvic mentality.

This is why they value the court of public opinion and believe victim so much because they know jack about actual law. They don't want the burden of proof on them because in their head 'proofs' just isn't for everyone. On the other hand maybe this is why many of them see Vic's problem with personal space as damning proof. Just a little food for thought.

The problem with this is that backing accusation that then turn out to be false is harmful to the believability of victims. By trying to make it easier for victims to come forward by instantly promoting every accusation that gets made, they have made people rightfully suspicious. You can only peddle so much bullshit before people become hesitant to just take your word for it and slinging around cultish slogans like "ALWAYS ? BELIEVE ? VICTIMS ?" when it hasn't even been established if that person is actually a victim isn't helping either.

You know, that LaChoy and Rial will use the Pokemon TCG as "fans" in any shot. Like I said, that Docs place starts looking pretty fucking cramped when there's just 20 or so people inside, so if only 10 people turn up for the whole fucking day it's going to be hailed a huge huge success.

As funny as the greentext was, I can't see any autist being bullied into parting with $20 for non-Pokemon TCG shit, especially from VAs who weren't in any Pokemon shows whatsoever.

Ron will just sneer at anyone who just goes "No thanks, hear for the tournament" and walk straight past them.

Assuming they're not being stuffed at the fucking back of the store, out of the way of the tournie.
The ironic thing is that most Pokemon fans would probably know more about Mignogna (and, regrettably, Schemmel) than Rial, Vic voiced Keldeo in one of the Pokemon movies while Schemmel voiced Lucario in a different movie (and each reprised their respective roles for Super Smash Bros.).

So we have confirmation that the Rial throwing out a Cosplayer thing was a gay op?

Odd that Gay Ops start happening right as Renfamous moves her whale carcass into the arena. Surely a coincidence -- just like how Nick suddenly starts getting Twitter suspensions right afterwards.

Yes, but "ALWAYS ? BELIEVE ? RANDOM ? ANONYMOUS ? ACCUSATIONS" has less umph, ya know?

Random thought: Nick mentions having "the messages to prove it" in response to La Choy accusing him of lying.

They're actively trying to get him purged from Twitter.

Which would cause him to lose all access to those messages. And KickVic (Renfamous, if nothing else) knows it.

He's backing shit up, right?
Twitter still has to keep a record of it for years so even if they did go after him with his twitter down he could get an order to get his own Twitter DM's.

Reactions: Burnout and damian
So all we'd have to do is rely on Twitter's transparency and willingness to communicate with people it's terminated it's relationship with?
Well willingness would be a court order if Nick didn't back any of it up. Granted the court order would probably have to happen regardless due to Twitter needing to authenticate the tweets/DMs. Granted I am sure those messages were probably forwarded to a certain law firm in TX.

So now that there's ops afoot, how gay will they get? The cosplayer thing sounded fishy to me to begin with but with the lack of brain activity these individuals have demonstrated will they try for something really exceptional? I could see some people thinking it would be a good idea to try and pull one over on BHBH because muh right side of history

Think they are going after the Youtubers, easy targets since they are looking to get click baity content and that was right up their alley.

I haven't been able to keep up as much as i would like but i'm assuming we are generally in a holding pattern until "Bloody Monday" Arrives.

Honestly I love Nick. But im interested to see how some of the other Youtube lawyers weigh in on the issue. Lawful-Masses comes to mind.

It's hard for me to watch him. While he's an attorney I get the impression that Tactical Bra is a Canadian type paralegal in NY and perhaps one of the rest of his team might be a lawyer. It'd be like watching Nick do a stream where he took legal advice from Shane and his discord along with Raisedbywolves.

Re: Nick and Twitter - I hope he screenshots/archives things now. While Twitter does have a duty to retain data I wouldn't put a "honest mistake" past them should push come to shove.
