Holden, I have a short question, if you would continue to humor me:

You frequently call everyone else deluded, with limited world views. However, if we were to judge you by your own standards, we would see an unemployed mid-twenties guy who (by your own admittance) doesn't socialize with anyone beyond a few friends on skype and facebook (and those friends don't know the extent of your beliefs, meaning you have no entirely honest relationships). Ironically, you've probably been most open and honest with us, and you've certainly been socializing here quite a bit.

My question is this: Why do you feel your worldview is so much more informed and educated than ours? Please don't answer in a way that is just "because I'm right", because I'm really curious as to how you feel you're intellectually and morally superior to everyone who has disagreed with you.

Because of all the words you typed, I also forgot what you said about your parents. This happens because I am trying to pull together a family Christmas, and some of the presents I ordered are out of stock, or shipping slowly, so I am trying frantically to find last-minute gifts so people can have something to open on Christmas Day while we wait for their real gifts to arrive. (Example, my brother-in-law wanted a particular item with his family name and heraldic arms on it. Problem: His name is exceedingly common over here and apparently everybody ordered the same item.)

My friend whose parents came over from Scotland started out life very poor, but worked his way up to a master's degree and is now a manager in his job; unfortunately, this requires him to spend 16-hour days more than once in his typical workweek, but he doesn't mind because he is supporting his wife and daughter. I somehow manage to meet only hardworking people, although this may have to do with the nature of my own job, which also requires a minimum of a master's degree. Do you see what is called "selection bias" at work? You are conditioned to think people are thugs because you seem to have met many. I can't say why this might be. I am conditioned to think people work hard because those are the people I have met. You believe everyone is a cheater because you helped two girls cheat. I seem to meet faithful people. Maybe you do need a different social circle.
