It's like watching animals throw shit at each other in a zoo and then the zoo-keepers coming in and removing the animals they don't like and putting them in "solitary confinement". Or just giving them an injection and getting rid of them.
This is how scared these people are of their own moderation. They have to apologize upfront for thought-crime or something they're about to go ahead and do in the hope they don't get silenced/sent to the gulags.

It doesn't surprise me that certain developers are doing their best to avoid any public criticism or ridicule. It reminds me of how plenty of news sites stopped offering comment sections in recent years. We don't want those pesky consumers sassing us back, now do we?
Preventing "review bombing" or even eliminating user reviews from a storefront entirely won't get rid of criticism elsewhere or stop word-of-mouth from dragging a game. It's never worked and it never will. Even the most ridiculous opinions about games and their developers still find a home online (just look at resetera; I guarantee there's plenty of developers out there who'd love to shutter that shithole).
Trump winning in 2016 was very traumatic for them. You'd think it would have taught them that you can't really stop an idea from spreading even if you try to clamp down on it really hard in the places you control. Real shame it didn't.

This case could have more twists and turns than the Jussie Smollett one.
RedMercury is signup number 36,769, so a late sign-up on Dec 25 2017. That is an interesting date to randomly signup to Resetera.
First post on Resetera. No mentioning of NeoGAF and no saying hello/introduction of any sorts. Almost as if this is an alt-account ?
Apparently has cats now, even although later he is talking about his dogs getting lots of death threats.
Claims to be in his mid 30s. Which is embarrassing given the shit he posts.
Pays for Era Clear which could explain why he gets mod protection to sperg out and banbait.
Consistently mentions having kids, so even although his age, marriage and dogs (that get death threats!) line up with boredJonathan's instagram pictures, having kids does not.
At this point, I think RedMercury is a previous Resetera poster who has gone into witness protection or been banned and has carried on using an alt. So far I cannot find RedMercury posting any PSN, XBL, Steam IDs or anything to identify him with. Doesn't seem to mention NeoGAF or having posted on it.
The account is too squeaky clean, with an interesting signup date, a first post acting like he's always been there and more red flags. Who signs up to pay a forum money via subscription if you're a nobody who wasn't on NeoGAF either?
My investigation will continue.
