ThePedanticRomantic (lefty tranny anime YouTuber who rants about traps actually being trans) keeps weighing in on this situation.

He says the Toei rumors are unfounded and have no direct source, but even if they were true it doesn't matter because Toei are sexist shitlords who prevent women from being directors (false) so it doesn't matter if they dislike Funimation over this Vic thing.

She talks about an anonymous tipster/source from Sakugablog tells her all this, then rants when people doubt her about how anonymous sources are important to journalism.

But predictably, when an anonymous insider tells Nick or someone else something, like the KamehaCon thing or even the Toei thing, it's all unfounded rumor bullshit. But when THEIR anonymous insider tells them stuff, it's totally legit and definitely true and you need to listen.

These speds don't realize that companies like Toei Animation are not in anyway obligated to continue working with Funimation anyway.
If they feel that Funimation is mishandling their IPs that it could potentially screw them over in the long run then they have the right to cut their ties with Funimation and do business elsewhere.

At the end of the day a lot of money is at stake and I'm pretty sure that Toei Animation could care less about the reasons why Funimation is fueling this drama anyway. If Funimation is going to cost them money then Toei Animation will just tell them that it's over and that will be the end of it all.

Didn't somebody already do that once with Funimation about some Dragon Maid anime?

For anyone reading this, do feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and feel free to add any details that I'm not aware of or details that I haven't brought up.

From what I know about that dramafest was that basically one of the English VAs over at Funimation used their position to change a line in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid for the English Dub where they said some line about 'toxic masculinity'. One of the VAs simply virtue signaled for the localization of this show and this caused a bit of a shitstorm. I don't know if Funimation still has the rights to the show and all but this is all that I know about this whole controversy to my knowledge.

Also, I've worked for Pizza Hut as a delivery driver. There's really no such thing as a "demotion". You already work for Pizza Hut. Can't get much lower than that.
That was my first job out of high school. I remember banking on tips and spending that on comics and anime while saving my checks for school. I call bullshit on him getting demoted for protecting himself. More like he probably had complaints. You either get suspended or fired with a weapon which is normally a handgun which is really frowned upon. A small fiberglass rod ain't shit.

I don't think that TPR is concerned about whether or not what Nick heard about Toei is true.

Rather, TPR is concerned with talking about how it wouldn't matter because Toei has sexist hiring practices, maybe.

TPR is being irrelevant, then, because bringing up how Toei is displeased is meant to demonstrate that Funimation may lose big in the coming months/years should Toei be displeased enough to cut ties with them and reallocate their IPs, or even just outright retract them. That's why one might care: Funimation failing to wrangle their contract workers just might cause them to be embroiled in a lawsuit that'll tank their reputation and lead to Toei not wanting to do work with them anymore-- either the Western anime scene is damaged as a result, or it otherwise changes drastically.

Toei doesn't become irrelevant because they're supposedly sexist-- what kind of big-brained logic is that?

Minor correction: the “toxic masculinity” was actually about the patriarchy. Clip for context:

I don't have time to quote the revant posts in this thread for update, but I combed through the tweets of Sam Swicegood since his first statement last night that he had "information" on a Vic Mignogna assault. Few tweets were missed in the archive sweep that somebody did earlier so I caught those. I added some commentary to some of the archive links, but gave up part way through due to time constraints. He did get up almost an hour ago and start talking again. Archive links are in sequential order of oldest to newest.
http://archive.fo/Cjj2q kristi starts the tweet chain off
http://archive.fo/o6ekB Sam swicegood replies by saying he knows two "victims" personally who were "assaulted"
http://archive.fo/QOSLl admits that he is a sexual assault victim and "knows the difference"
http://archive.fo/Jyqa5 admits that the cases he is referencing supposedly happened in Canada
http://archive.fo/gsdaH Sam Swicegood tries to claim that kissing constitutes sexual assault
http://archive.fo/xrwp9 Sam Swicegood "doesn't have to prove a god damn thing to you"
http://archive.fo/pQagW Sam claims Kristi deleted a tweet, then links a justice department website
http://archive.fo/2h9SY Sam says that any unwanted touching is "sexual assault"
http://archive.fo/SBtIn Sam alludes to a defamation case where he will finally share his information during.
http://archive.fo/cILZU Sam knows two people who were assaulted and beleives them
http://archive.fo/fQK1Z Sam tells someone to stop trying to interpret statuatory code unless they are an attorney
http://archive.fo/l6I59 says that the sexual assault happened in Canada again and cites the California Justice department code again, for some reason he is not referencing Canada law
http://archive.fo/B3nkU Sam Swicegood declares that his friends are seeking court remedies
http://archive.fo/ZiEEw Sam Swicegood once again says you have to be an attorney to interpret law and says that doing so without being one is UPL Unlicenced Practice of Law
http://archive.fo/ffiTh Sam says jurisdcition matters, (likely a precursor to the first stages of the case, good chance the defendants try to get the jurisdiction moved to another more favorable jurisdiction.)
http://archive.fo/YZVAa Sam Swicegood tries to tell us more about UPL since he's a paralegal and can interret law FOR US even though he said him self you need to be an ATTORNEY
http://archive.fo/9qxG6 Sam Swicegood does not want this shared.... ha ha ha
http://archive.fo/cywJb Sam Swicegood "you didn't prove anything at all because my friends don't live in Texas."
http://archive.fo/d4y6s Sam Swicegood expounds on UPL for us further by saying that if you are trying to say something isn't UPL is probably a form of UPL
http://archive.fo/CmvqL Sam Swicegood starts using the terms "generally and situationally" and declares he is only linking to the law, not quotting it.
http://archive.fo/IrPcH Sam Swicegood declares that Kristi is trying to interpret things for other law sets with Texas law, but at least he can't speak for Rekeita's interpretation
http://archive.fo/kTOOJ Sam Swicegood: "Do you...do you know what paralegals do?"
http://archive.fo/mY8P7 Sam Swicegood can now not "CONFIRM" anything because he isn't representing his friends.
http://archive.fo/cfNEP Sam Swicegood reiterates his point of proving a Canadian Violation with Texas law, (even though he has only cited California state law thus far)
http://archive.fo/vcl9x Sam Swicegood declares that Kristi gave an irrelevant definition be citing Texas State Law
http://archive.fo/QM7if Sam Swicegood stands by what he said, "he assaulted them"
http://archive.fo/eWYQq Sam Swicegood says he doesn't work FOR lawyers
http://archive.fo/nigVY Sam Swicegood seeks to clarify after the fact by saying that it is assault everywhere, but only "sexual" assaults in some states.
http://archive.fo/1dJpb Sam Swicegood says he "is not seeing anything about Vic suing people"
http://archive.fo/Jyqa5 Sam Swicegood says it was in Canada again, thats why he posted the laws he did (but he posted California law.)
http://archive.fo/LcbMD Saw lets a fairly sick burn slip past him due to his lack of understanding
http://archive.fo/2gopS Sam Swicegood brings up the "i was raped" point again and adds more details by saying he was 11 when it happened
http://archive.fo/KTsIh Sam Swicegood is keeping a counter now "for the 9th time it was in Canada!"
http://archive.fo/eETn8 "for the 9th time canada"
http://archive.fo/n5ogE "for the 10th time, my friend was not assaulted in TExas." (friends has turned into singular friend here now, maybe he lost a friend during this exchange?)
http://archive.fo/BhFVt "There you go. Blame the Victim, thats cool."
http://archive.fo/LkFAg "So it's my Fault then?"
http://archive.fo/rXje4 "this is Twitter, not a courtroom, I'm not giving testimony."
http://archive.fo/IWCuw "The same reason many assaults go unreported. Fear of retribution and not being believed."
http://archive.fo/EpEXy "You can believe whatever the fuck you want to. I don't have to prove anything to you."
http://archive.fo/6bTN8 "You remind me of a neighbor who once asked me "Why didn't you tell the police when you were raped?" And I replied "Would you have believed me then?" And they didn't answer."
http://archive.fo/pYHyd "As I've said before, my friend already went to the police as far as I know." (this is important because it's the first time he makes this claim)
http://archive.fo/RHlYX "Doing nothing reflects badly on you."More victim-blaming. "It's your fault for not saying anything."
http://archive.fo/xQXO2 "You just took victim blaming up a new level."
http://archive.fo/pcWE8 "When you taking #victimblaming to a new fucking level. https://twitter.com/GhostShellZen/status/1115387416033091590 "
http://archive.fo/J5ZPK "So it's my fault then. Great. Thanks."
http://archive.fo/aLZfN "There aren't, actually."
http://archive.fo/HeUVh Sam Swicegood tries to flip the conversation around by climing the person admitted that Vic committed a crime.
http://archive.fo/rLivf Sam tries to clarify who he is talking to since he is juggling a few conversation threads at this point
http://archive.fo/V8T9l Sam Swicegood says he is "helping the truth" while other people are trying to blame him with a crime by failing to report an assault when he supposdely knew about it.
http://archive.fo/vVWx1 Sam tries to throw out a red herring as he takes the canadian laws that people are citing him and claiming that he is incenuating that the "victims" he spoke of are children.
http://archive.fo/mOTzo "They weren't minors."
http://archive.fo/cyAcP "You cannot both say Vic didn't commit a crime and also accuse me of not reporting a crime."
http://archive.fo/HpdFE Sam Swicegood seems to incenuate that people are making things up by saying the crime was a hug and a kiss on the cheeek even though earlier he was arguing that an unwanted kiss was assault.
http://archive.fo/pWSBt "So we're clear: if you try to kiss and hug someone who does not want to be kisses or hugged (and who does not give consent to that), that is still sexual assault in many states as well as Canada."
http://archive.fo/yLcvK "You don't look a police officer to me."
http://archive.fo/zu8r5 "Hang on, did you just say that Twitter is some kind of police?" Sam is throwing out another Red Herring trying to take the conversation in a different direction
http://archive.fo/jfK8Y Sam Swicegood tries to use this conversation thus far to claim that an assaut has been proven.
http://archive.fo/45HRf "Wow, you really think so? That they are equally guilty?"
Very interesting that it changed from two friends to one, wonder if he'd explain that. Someone on twitter had a good description for people like ponyboy, that it's like they walk in and leave a big pile of shit in the middle of the room and expect no one to question it.

Wasn't that VA Jamie Marchi?

So a young teenaged boy with a older man
I'm just so baffled they expected this type of shit to be signed and then have the entitlement to actually get mad that their jailbait crap didn't get signed
Really flip this around, imagine a man getting mad that someone didn't sign his "ship art" of sailor mini moon and sailor moon kissing or whatever, and then turning around and calling the female VA who refused to sign it a homophobe. These same women would be up in arms about this man being a pedophile, but it's okay if it's a younger boy and older man because UWU YAOI

I wonder if Rial will sign my Broly porn...

"Indecent contact" typically includes groping of breasts or genitalia, indecent exposure, placing people's hands on your crotch, and similar things. You'd need to know both the Canadian legislation, the Canadian case law, and the specific allegations to know whether whatever this person's friends are claiming occurred rises to that level.

Most women have been the recipients of "inappropriate or unwanted" contact at some point in their lives. The current SJW definition of that is so broad that they include men trying to strike up a conversation with women on public transport as "inappropriate".

In the UK, they're trying to ban whistling at women.

Just throw this faggot into the dumpster with Mother's Cucked Basement. Both are losers who shouldn't be taken seriously. Then again, who would take TPR seriously when they said that Goblin Slayer is white supremacy.

The Hashtag was BadDub. Basically one of the KickVicers rewrote a character from being a slightly clueless fertility goddess into a straw feminist.

This was one of like 5 different shows they shoehorned woke politics and culture war crap into, and each time they did it just because they could. It was a power play. Basically rubbing their shit in Weeb faces. "We can fuck up the things you care about and you can't do anything about it."

Except they could. Watching it subbed, not buying the BDs, and of course, pirating. Reading the manga also works.

Yeah, I think Prison School was another that Marchi pulled that shit with. I actually cancelled my Funi sub and told them outright Marchi was why.

except thats patently untrue. places like 9anime and kissanime exist that make pirating that shit easy af and you can just not give them money and read the manga/sub instead, giving them no money.

the sooner these idiots realize they have no chance against a disgruntled customer, the better off everyone, them included, will be.

IMO the orca activated more crusted sock puppets (or sacrificed some of her moldy KFC grease to summon more) as part of its great leap forward. I'm suspicious that the Canadian that appears to have a veracity issue may also be part of that.
