Arin Hanson / Egoraptor / Grump - "Hey I'm Grump!" of Game Grumps fame, hypocritical SJW doxer, shat himself recording a let's play

Just caught up to the thread, I used to be a huge fan of Egoraptor back in the Newgrounds days but I dipped out when Game Grumps started cause Lets Plays drive me crazy. Looks like I dodged a bullet, thanks for recording all this.

Today I learned that people I was a fan of over a decade ago still make videogame-themed music into their 30s. How embarrassing.

It's likely being done for free on behalf of Jamie Lee Curtis, I can't imagine GG paying for her appearance. Between her, Rob Schneider, Weird Al, etc, it's likely that Game Grumps is a "stop" on some booker's promotional tour when targeting younger kids. It can be edited, done at any time and GG is based in CA (about an hour from LA) so it makes sense from a number of perspectives.

I don't see what GG gets from having Jamie Lee Curtis on though, I can't imagine much of their audience knows much about her besides being the "yogurt lady" on TV.

See, that I could understand given how young their audience is these days, but that just makes their decisions to have Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland (though for the latter, they always kept losing the recording so his episodes never actually aired) on Guest Grumps all the more confusing.

As you said, aside from being "the yogurt lady", what kid is gonna know who Jamie Lee Curtis is?

What kid is gonna know about Dan Harmon and his work on Community? All they'd know at best is they're the guys who made "Rick and Morty" because it's a cartoon, and that's if we assume the kid watches Adult Swim.

It's literally anything besides the same dick jokes they make constantly, the fans are going to love it.

Here's how I conenct Jamie Lee Curtis to Game Grumps.

JLC was a spokeswoman for Activia. Activia kept her poop moving on a regular basis. Game Grumps make poop jokes. Thus, she's the perfect Guest Grump.

...wait...did they even discuss Activia? Otherwise, it's just another wasted opportunity.

It's not completely beyond the realm of possibility that some of the celebrities are actual viewers/people who unironically watched a Game Grumps video a few times with their kids. Hollywood is strangely more accessible to wierdos nowadays thanks to social media and the surrounding platforms for self-made content.

That being said, I think @Tanner Glass 's theory about it being a coordinated PR thing is more likely, just because Game Grumps is currently a corporate shillbox sucking any mainstream thing's dick for coins in a desperate business model of throwing anything at the wall and seeing what sticks(and having limitless zoomer interns doing it harder for less pay). "We play video games! We play board games on a set in costumes! We do youtube premium sitcoms! We do play games for dares when we don't even actually like them! We know a few celebrities! We animate doodles! We'll do ANYTHING!"

I think the audience that dislikes dick jokes has already moved on from the channel, though; leaving the audience that does like dick jokes behind.

I don't think the "likes dick jokes" audience has a deep cross over with "likes things with Jamie Lee Curtis in them".
It's not the dick jokes themselves, it's the fact that it's ANYTHING else featuring the hosts. These are the same fans who will spend hundreds of dollars on merch that is vaguely related to one of the people who talk on the show. Just because they haven't all quit doesn't mean they aren't a little bored of the same formula day in and day out.

Everytime the grumps get some random famous guest star i keep remembering the time they begging chris pratt to come on the show and when he did not they passed around that watermelon and posted photos of it while tagging him to shame him or something?

Basically back in 2015 chris posted a tweet talking about how funny game grumps was after watching the final episode of the mario galaxy series
https://twitter.com/prattprattpratt/status/671519669740785664?lang=en

Game grumps fans saw this and tried to get him to go on the show, grumps themselves joined in on this
Then they posted this next year

with chris retweeting

ill drop the childish, but i maintain that its all stupid.

From what I can tell, both the JLC and Brian Regan episodes seem to be because their respective sons asked. Both episodes have their children on and playing with them, and in the BR episode there's a specific conversation (or bit?) that BR is on because his 20 y/o son is a fan of Game Grumps, and the son jokingly says his dad is cool because "he got him on the show".

I'll be the first person to admit that I like Grumps content, and generally don't like reading this thread, but these last two episodes of Guest Grumps in particular kind of rub me wrong on principle. Even if its not the case, they really scream "rich kid gets to go on favorite YT show because mommy/daddy has money/is famous" and that irks me. That said, the JLC episode isn't horrible, but definitely not what I expected to see when I log onto Youtube in the morning.

Yeah i remember last time they had a kid on, didn't he mostly just steal stupid memes and jokes? Sorry but can't remember who it was, i turned it off pretty quickly. Since they seem to have stopped doing retro gaming i'm just days away from unsubscribing (I know, that will surely teach 'em!)

Game grumps is weird in that it actually started off pretty strong with two immature chucklefucks who were well-known in the YT/Newgrounds gaming communities sitting around and fucking around with various games with a constant stream of silly banter, but as time went on it’s like the soul that made the show enjoyable was slowly draining out and Arin seemed more concerned with trying to turn GG into a corporate thing as opposed to just keeping it a fun little side project they did at their house, and since that decision was made it stopped feeling like something the guys did for fun and more like some obligation they had to do akin to a comedian starring in shitty movies and sitcoms to line their wallets a bit more in between tours until eventually their shows and movies overlapped their career and they end up stuck in projects they have no real passion for. The way they’ve been introducing new shit and then axing it off as soon as it wanes in popularity a bit and kicking their former friends to the curb to keep it going has made it seem like some corporate project hosted by some fame-hungry loon that firmly believes that cutting the weak ties in the equation their project will always stay strong and their success will always be assured.

I just think this weird big business shit he’s trying to pull with grumps is dumb, and he’s taking an internet show about playing games badly and making middle schooler-tier jokes way too seriously. I stopped watching them years ago and now that I’ve seen what they’ve gotten to these days it seems like a stopped just in time.

Given this recent video (folks assume this is a belated April Fool's Day joke vid); I seriously wonder if the Grumps even know what their age demographic is, anymore.

If you are - it's contagious.

What i don't understand is - if this is an April Fool's Day joke - why bother uploading it eight days later? Is this another case of the lovelies pitching a fit oover not getting a specific upload on a specific day?
