It's more I watched anime, realized it wasn't an accurate reflection of japan, and researched it myself. there are a few youtubers that live in japan and speak english decently well.

best example is, its a stereotype that japanese hate americans, but thats far from the truth. they just don't like jackasses that cause major lifestyle disruptions, like logan paul. further, they accept outsiders, but refuse and reject any unskilled panda's.

Yeah. I've been to Japan a few times. No one had problems with us and always wanted to practice their English.

But you must be polite and if you have problems, there is a certain way you handle and it's not all over twitter.
This is not looking good.

Something people haven't really emphasized here is that Gen is out as CEO of Funimation as of February 1st. He's just a seat warmer as Chairman, with a minority 5% share. Sony has their own people in now.

I don't think it's coincidental that this shit started after the management change. I think there's a possibility that Gen might have kept the harpies off Vic, and is in no position to do so anymore.

The interesting thing about that is that Funimation has Dragonball because of Gen. His cousin works for Toei, and convinced the higher ups there to give him he license back in the 90s. I wonder what would happen if Gen reported back to Toei that things have gone completely off the rails.

The management change is definitely a major factor. If this shit had gone on for ages it was likely still a jealousy story. Monica or whoever wanted to do more roles and would implore Gen time and time again to get someone "local" in, maybe a friend of theirs. The only "outsider" VA still doing DB stuff regularly was Vic. Gen would just shrug because it was, in part, a Toei casting not purely Funimation so likely fobbed them off time and time again. You don't piss off your paymaster or the place your own kith and kin work for.

Now though? Now Gen's no longer there to act as a backstop on their stupidity and warn them he'll fire them if they fuck around too much. So off they go and do exactly when Gen likely feared, a stupid witch hunt that's likely to see Funimation burn to the ground as a brand unless Sony finally lets them all go and tries to fix things quickly with BHBH.
