Range, how natural they sound, if they can keep their tone properly, how they handle action/emotional scenes, stuff like that. The best ones can make you tear up in the right scene just by conveying emotion that strongly.

(I don't think anyone would down a large sum of money just for three days of having the chance of meeting and taking pictures of some of their favorite celebrities only to throw out said chance just because some cosplayer who probably has zero love for the material she cosplays and can't even smile without looking like she's disgusted by the prospect of "pandering to those geeks" made some PP-maxing passes at them. They'd probably sooner B E G O N E her.)

wouldn't matter to much atm, Kamehacon would ask every staffer if they gave her a pass and why. With Ty being there and if he heard/seen it he'll probably ask for a report too for a 'just in case' situation. Can bet she fucked up real bad for this.

Ty May have. And security was watching like hawks from the moment she showed up. There will be lots of documentation. I get the feeling that the Con owner has grown weary of the kickvic assholes. 3 hour long lines of people wanting to see Vic tends to focus one to the realities of the situation.

Ty might have had a pass at Vic’s request. But most likely that pass came right from Con ownership. In a show of good faith that no shenanigans would be tolerated “see for yourself”

The legal fallout will depend on who’s guest pass she had? The cosplay thot herself is mostly uninteresting to the lawyers, beyond being a stunning example of the absurd shit Vic is being subjected to be these lunatics. But if she has the passes (remember she had 2! Her husband/cameraman) from one of the major players? Oh boy won’t that be fun!

I know it's dumb, but I have this mental fantasy of a video seeing Ty hover over to where Dumbinique was apprehended with ALOD close behind him, and just as the scene fades out we hear from The Beard, "Archive everything!"

How many woke points does one win for being thrown out of Kamehacon, and how many are lost for further proving civil conspiracy?

Slightly OT, but to answer your question, it’s kind of a learned thing you just pick up from watching a few subs. You may not understand the language, but much of the emotion and intent and life to the voice comes through that you start syncing up with the subtitles. A lot of the vocal character traits are not really things impacted by the language barrier. And you can tell if the voice fits the character.

you stow your phone and whip off the glasses and ball cap
MoRon turn toward the sound, and their eyes go wide
your daughter gives you two shining thumbs up
you give her two thumbs back.
"Great job, babygirl!"
you share a high-five and then head toward the door
"Oh."
she stops in the doorway
"We forgot 4th Bulma's autograph."
she turns her eyes up to you
you look down into hers
a tense silence cuts the air
"HAHAHAHA."
"HAHAHAHA."
"Now who wants ice cream?"

If I had to explain it, it's all about how right the voice actor conveys the character and any given emotion, just like a good english voice actor. I guess reading subtitles might make things a bit more distracting for some viewers more accustomed to simply watching an english show without reading text at the bottom of the screen, but from all the subs that I seen, I feel that the Japanese VA gives their performance much more effort than the english VA, with some exceptions like Cowboy Bebop.

Compare this scene (timestamped) in Nier Automata Dubbed ( MASSIVE SPOILER)

To the same scene subbed (Again, SPOILER)

The dub wasn't bad, but the sub coveys the event in a way that feels much more raw and has much more impact.

Not only that, but she damages her narrative doing so. She's so scared of him she goes out of her way to be in the same room as him to tell the whole world she's scared of him.

She had a Con Guest pass. Not a paid admission attendee pass. She had the type of pass given to those that the Con invites as presenters. He same type of pass the Vic or a Sabat or Rial would have. And she wasn’t invited by the Con.
