Fat Acceptance Movement / Fat Girlcows

Honestly a class on the diet and fitness industry as well as the craze and its leading to people having terrible body image or its general impact on society and what people think good nutrition is would be an interesting course to take. Talk about how this extreme has now been countered with an opposite extreme with people claiming obesity can be healthy. How ignoring what your body wants has been turned into mindlessly accepting every craving instead of figuring out why you're craving that food (maybe you need protein and that's why you want that big Mac for example)

But God knows if a sociology class even thought about negatively portraying or talking about the issues within the FA community they'd be fucked. I've had people drop nutrition classes and complain about/dispute the biology classes when talking about obesity. Especially funny was one girl who wanted the teacher to talk about intuitive eating then got mad when the teacher accurately talked about it. The smaller chubsters act like obesity only affects the super obese too which is great. Not sure what a super obese person would say, in all my schooling I've never actually seen one on campus. Guess they'd be unable to walk to their classes among other issues
Inb4 fatties start demanding that universities provide mobility scooters so they can get to class, claiming it's FATPHOBIC and ABILIST not to.

The whole I'M TRIGGERED thing is all about controlling social interactions.

The people who would actually do this shit don't really feel like they're in control of their own lives and destinies. They've never had to learn how to deal with competition and conflict, or manage their own emotional discomfort. So now that they're adults the best they can do (at least among their SJW social circles, because nobody else cares) is shut down any interaction that feels uncomfortable by claiming they're "triggered." And, by pre-emptively pointing out things that "trigger" them, they can control how their SJW friends behave around them.

I don't doubt most of these people suffer from anxiety; when you're emotionally unequipped to deal with the challenges of living, and don't know how to productively push for what you want (and thus need it given to you), that's pretty much a given.

But outside of college campuses and Tumblr, do people actually do this shit IRL? I've yet to encounter it. Granted, my social circle is really, really short on dangerhairs indoctrinated in SJW-speak, and they actually have jobs they're doing well at, and thus some sense of personal efficacy, so crawling behind the rock of I'M TRIGGERED just hasn't happened. So I suspect the ones who do use it to keep their internet/campus friends in line, and maybe try using it on their parents to see if it will get them what they want, are the ones who just get silent and stare at their shoes during normal social interactions that take an uncomfortable turn.

I call it "Piece of Shit at the Center of the Universe Syndrome." There's such a weird push-pull between those feelings of shame and self-loathing, and the childish narcissism of believing all eyes are upon oneself.

I know some very wealthy people who do not live the kind of lifestyles you would expect them to, and who live in much more modest homes and in less exclusive neighborhoods than they potentially could. I also know a few people who you would never, ever guess were multimillionaires, based upon where they live and their patterns of consumption.

There's no Rich Person Rulebook that says you have to live in the most exclusive neighborhood and own the most palatial home you can afford. When you're rich? You can live wherever the fuck you want. And, frankly, living in the most exclusive neighborhood, in that palatial home, can have some drawbacks. People respond to you differently, and not always in positive ways. The people who have that kind of wealth and choose to live that kind of lifestyle can be pretty fucking weird and out of touch, especially when there are generations of inherited wealth behind them. And the nouveau riche? Well, yeah, they're just horrible, no matter where you go.
Warren Buffet live in the same random suburban house he bought in the 70’s. Most grounded wealthy folks don’t flash their money, they save it. You are 100% correct about the nouveau riche being garish and gauche as any poor white trash you could encounter.

The triggered thing is an interesting development that’s been coming for awhile. It has its roots in people who have authentic issues, but it’s been completely hijacked by the ultra SJW brigade so now it’s just a joke. Like most things, the folks that it genuinely applies to are relegated to snowflake territory because of these stupid, lazy, ultra sensitive assholes.

Tbh, if they were in university they'd probably know better than to expect anything for free. You could probably buy a fantastic scooter for the price I've paid in textbooks in even my first year. Shit, you can buy two basic wheelchairs with one science textbook
Then again, these aren't typically people in STEM. Lucky bastards in English classes pay only like 150$ worth of books per semester, they don't know the true pain

Speaking of not knowing true pain, insert someone in pain entirely due to her being fat

Yes there are challenges FAT disabled person but they can be used as motivation(I want a that goes from touching the floor to 3 meters or so but its a kids chair so I will have be kid sized again) to lose weight(and yes some people cant reduce calories because it changes their body tone because of their cerebral palsy so they have to exercise more) but I dont think this person has cp

Being disabled because of obesity is not the same thing as being disabled due to circumstances you cannot control.
You ate yourself into this situation and you can eat yourself back out of it.

The fuck is this horseshit? There are lots of reasons folks may not make eye contact in public with strangers. Sometimes they don't want to engage, but that has fuck all to do with your weight, sis. Trust me, most folks when they are in the presence of a behemoth can't stop staring.

These fucking assholes.

To be fair, I think the two most common reactions to seeing someone who looks extremely weird (a deathfat, an amputee, someone with a weird scar on their face) is to stare at them or not look at them at all. The latter can also be extremely dehumanizing when it results in not acknowledging the person even when they're trying to speak to you. The ironic thing is that usually when people won't look at someone with an unfortunate facial deformity (or whatever), they're doing it because they're trying to be polite and avoid staring.

But to throw a fit because strangers won't make eye contact when they have no need to betrays deep insecurity.

I call horseshoe theory on this one, the triggered thing. both sides' extremes seem to want to curl up in their little safe spaces and hide.

both were white people. neither was in any way affected personally by the shit they were triggered by.
edited to remove powerlevel
adding sperg: you can't be afraid to fire fucking people. you've got to find a good reason, write down how they've fucked up, and lay it on them with a pink slip. it's not hard, but some places seem terrified to do it.

the whole scale thing? GTFO my bathroom and piss at home then. who invites these people over twice?

and yeah the richest people I know basically look like clean bums on their day off. it's a suit and tie at work mostly though.

the new rich. ugh. golden toilet in the double wide/innsmouth look shit. ugh ugh.

As a former fatass (not on the level of some monstrosities present in this topic, but was still a hefty ~115kg), reading through this thread was a strange experience. Is this all a mental illness with some of these folks, kinda like anorexia? I can't think of any other reason for such behavior, not only do you fuck your body up beyond recognition, but you also demand others approve of your state of being?
How baffling is it that these people get support from your usual bleeding hearts because "you're beautiful at every size" instead of a much needed doze of reality.

Binge Eating Disorder is a horrible thing to deal with and my theory is that a lot of these people cling to the FA movement to try and escape that. Admitting you have an eating disorder is hard, claiming that your eating habits are fine and it's the world that is wrong and at fault for how miserable you are is easier

Look me in the eyes or you're a fatphobe!

my superfat body
When you’re so obese the word “fat” just doesn’t cover it.

Found her instagram, she's @thefatsextherapist. This sex toy company had her do an ad for them because... diversity sells butt plugs? I'm sure their sales went through the roof. NSFW, obviously.

BED is an awful condition. It should be treated with the same gravity as anorexia and bulimia. EDS like those kill, and obesity kills far more people. I really think if we treated all disordered eating seriously it would help a ton.

HAES and FA are cancer. Worse than, really

She has fibromyalgia, because like...of course. If you're a superfat, yeah, you're going to be in pain and your joints will ache, but that doesn't make it fibromyalgia.

There are clinics like Rosewood that definitely treat BED/compulsive overeating with the same gravity and urgency as other EDs. But of course as we've all said, if people refuse to admit that they even have an ED and insist that any intentionality or awareness about calories or food choices is itself a disordered extension of "diet culture," there's not much that can be done.

FA has done a great job of demonizing mature decision-making while propping up childlike behaviors (hell, I know kids who make better food choices on their own than most FA proponents). Further, FA lies about what and how much people will eat if they throw all consequences out the window; a lot of people absolutely will binge on ice cream, cookies, chips, and pizza until they resemble Violet Beauregard, but FA insists that's not true or how "intuitive eating" ever pans out. That's utter bullshit for people with BED.

She's gone through hell and back to get that "diagnosis". Last time she went to the doctor she got/found a pamphlet for it which she took as confirmation she had finally gotten her diagnosis but nope, next doctor she went to decided she needed more testing. She also complained that the clinic was known for being iffy for people above a certain BMI. Good, I'm glad the UK seems to not waste their tax dollars on fatties abusing the system. At least in London it seems

You're kidding, right? Something like 10% of the tax-payer funded NHS budget goes on treating beetus and obesity related disease and injury. We give lardbarges free-at-point-of-service LAP bands and stomach stapling to "help" them lose weight. Fatties are given free gym membership paid for the NHS

We spooge away a metric shit ton of £££ on keeping these people alive, when all we need to go is allow GPs to flat-out tell people "you are too fat. Here is the number of calories you should be eating, buy some digital bathroom and kitchen scalers, download and use MFP and get on putting down the damn fork"

But they can't. They have to coddle and placate them because god-forbid we hurt their feefees. worst thing that's ever happened is the explosion of fat-arse tarp stors selling clothes for them. It just enables them. Used to be once you got past a certain size, your options were severely limited which was an incentive for some people. Now that's no longer there and people who were seen as overweight a few years back are way, way slimmer than a lot of the butterballs you see rolling about your typical high street.
