He's like a rotten apple or something that deteriorates over time. Grotesque looking mutant.

Meanwhile, he's miserable on Easter and most people with lives are spending the day with family and friends, eating good food, watching the kids do egg hunts, and otherwise enjoyable things.

And then you have that thing above.

Happy Easter or Zombie Day, you miserable humans.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

thats some good shit. i get banned when trying not to get banned. seriously some good fuckin shit.
first time i found dsp i asked him why he snorted so much and got perma banned. didnt even know anything was just wondering. and my curiosity for such a innocent question lead me down the rabbit hole.

youre a joke phil. even believing your own lies and delusion with that comment

Does phil have some unconfirmed dual personality disorder as he writes this shit then does the exact opposite.
It's very confusing.

again, so unaware of his own self he believes his own delusional statements. the hypocrisy and irony has top quality with phil.

Meanwhile, he's miserable on Easter and most people with lives are spending the day with family and friends, eating good food, watching the kids do egg hunts, and otherwise enjoyable things.

And then you have that thing above.

Happy Easter or Zombie Day, you miserable humans.

thats because he sees all that as work. having kids, setting up events for them to laugh. cooking delicious food for everyone to enjoy which he cant. all he knows how to do is throw a bunch of butter and fat in shit. its all tedious work distracting him from playing games and bitching about a great deal of many things.

His gaming the system saw his vids on the YT Front Page back in the day. It was based off views in a certain period of time as to which vids got on the front page. D$P figured out quick that if he got his vids uploads ASAP he'd get lots of views, which would get him on the Front Page...which would generate more views. He mentioned several times that he was uploading vids while recording more gameplay. What he did was to go get the game at a Midnight release. Rush home and immediately start filming with his camera. He's play for ~30 mins, remove the card from his camera, take it to his PC and start uploading his first three 10 min videos in individual tabs ( which is why his uploads were often not in sequential order as sometimes a vid would finish processing before another). He then put another card in his camera and go back to recording while his vids uploaded. As most LPers played for an entire sitting and would more often than not EDIT said footage which took time, D$P's first 3 episodes would be Live (on YT ) for folks to watch before most of the other LPer's.

That explains why he think Youtube "fucked him over." That and the panic deleting of videos he did a couple years ago.

I still remember when he was explaining what happened after he "quit Machinima", and he said something to the effect of how he got paid more money than his views/ads warranted, but when Machinima changed the contract he said it was their fault because they "didn't figure it out for a long time." I forget what he said exactly, but it was something to the effect of how he knew Machinima was overpaying him but it was still unfair that they changed the contract because Machinima waited too long or something.

He made a separate channel for rockstar games called red dead dsp or something, but that channel got hacked and deleted, which is part of the reason he replayed those games later. They may not exist anymore. He also made a channel for final fantasy 13 but that also got stolen.

I think he also lost his Red Dead Online videos with John Rambo + fans too. Interesting because in his mind the "suicide kings" episodes were some of his most popular videos.. along the lines of Heavy Rain it put him on the map in his own head. In truth it's one of the better showings from DSP as he geuinely seemed to be enjoying himself alot throughout the series. I say interesting because he obviously still has these videos on a dusty harddrive somewhere he could reup them as part muh legacy but John being in the videos probably rubs him the wrong way these days.

Jahn all you hafta do is pick up the phone and apahlagize, dood.

But yeah, that's my take. I get where you're coming from, but I still think you're low-balling that by a fair bit. Personally, I don't care enough to go through everything and come up with some kind of tally, I'm just giving my two cents on what I see by watching his chat, which is an entirely different experience than watching it via a restreamer, which a lot of people miss.

Oh, I watch his chat a fair bit, and you're right that now there's significantly more trolling. The 5-7% number was from months ago when there was some trolling, but not nearly as much. I might do a quick-and-dirty ballpark estimate from last month to see what number I come up with. I know who most of the push-it-to-the-edge trolls are, like that vote_democrat person, so I might be able to get a better idea.

It wasn't that they had not figured it out, but more that they had been taking in Anyone and Everyone who took them up on their partnership YT PM spam after having seeded the platform with their initial few runs of creator recruitment. ( I received one of these in 2013 and while my channel has yet to reach the 1k channel Sub milestone, my game 'tutorial' vids for finding things/doing things were seeing enough traffic to put me on their radar ) The lucky early partners were given lucrative Pay-per-View contracts. Once the Machinima Brand had made it's mark, however, they changed to ad based CPM contracts. It was smart business and it worked as YTers were eager to sign on to Machinima in the hopes of Co-labing and/or networking with what at that time were some of the biggest names in YT Gaming Vids.

Now, D$P got cut to the B-string after completely missing the point of what his 'manager' was trying to do for his Brand as well as not being a Team Player. Short sighted phil could have been/earned/still BE earning so much more if he had listened to his Machinima manager who suggested he do some FGC tournament commentary. This was back when mainstream e-Sports were in their infancy ( Dota* and StarCraft exluded ) and D$P could have gotten into e-Sports commentating at the ground floor. He turned his nose up to this and blew the guy off with a 'I don't see where this helps get my LP videos more views'. While he has not spoken of any Machinima co-labs he was offered ( and turned down ), one can only imagine they were thrown his way as ALL the Machinima OGs were co-labing with each other in Specials, Series or their co-lab channel Machimia Realm. The 'Tractors had nothing to do with much of D$P's YT woes. He's done 99% of them to himself as Machinima had his back during the vast majority and went so far as to run interference for his various channels under their umbrella. D$P decided to disable 'suggested channels' ( It warned you that doing so would result in your vids not showing up in the side bar of other videos and went so far as to ask you if you were sure you wanted to disable this). D$P deleted 100s of vids instead of just setting them to Private until such time as Machinima could sort the issue out ( which they did fairly quickly). D$P was the one who told them that if they could not Insta-fix his problem he'd rather not be associated with them during the AD-pocalypse when NO ONE knew what was going on. D$P killed his Golden Goose all by himself.

a vid from 16 Sep 2006 about that e-sport...before it was called a 'sport'.** I could not find the original. basshunter's channel only had a re-upload on it. Skip to 1:47 to see all the GAMERS there gaming during the concert which was part of the Gaming event not the other way around. The game in a way skyrocketed Basshunter to fame.....and his fame as well spread the game...

Fair enough. I always make a note about his chat because it seems a lot of people in "detractor circles" get the brunt of their information from restreams or other YT vids which don't accurately represent his chat at all: even if they scroll up/display a comment that got banned, or show a bunch of spam, etc., you miss the context and don't see the variety of people/repetition of names, or the whole context of what happened before and after that comment and things of that nature.

A lot of people just see a 1000 bit badge (~$10) and a 3 month sub badge and assume that person is a paypig or whale or whatever (yes, there's the 'you're still giving him money' argument), but if whoever was highlighting that particular message scrolled up 30 lines they'd see the same person spewing out 'detractor-related' memes or talking to a known troll or whatever. To use another strip club analogy, it's almost like paying a cover charge for a $10 bit badge and then a few bucks a month for a sub badge to sit at the stage. You have people like bentboxer who haven't given him any significant money in months, but he sits in there safely and constantly takes the piss out of Dave/derails chat because he's paid his due.

There's a lot of nuance that goes on a lot of people miss because they've never spent time in his actual stream. Glad I'm not the only one who sees it, tbh.

Quick Edit: Regarding trying to figure out who is/isn't trolling when looking at messages attached to tips, it comes to subjectivity with stuff, too. There's a lot of messages along the lines of, "Hey, Phil, huge fan of yours but finally watching a stream and want you to keep it up!" or shit like that which, in my opinion, vary in authenticity. One person might take them at face value and think they're all genuine fans, you might give them like a 70/30 split of fans vs. trolls, whereas I'd give them like a 50/50 split because of what I've seen in his chat. There's nothing to back any of it up, it's just what would feel right to me, even though I'd acknowledge that's a poor reason to judge it that way.

Stuff about FGC and DSP recording footage

D$P killed his Golden Goose all by himself.

Having been pretty into the FGC in that time (and also watching DSP's vids casually), I'll say that he maybe could've, but it would've taken a lot of work on his part.

By the time he would've been making money on YT doing that he had already sort of soured himself within the FGC's ranks. This was post-Jaha, this was post-Viscant, this was post-Evo 4th Place, this was possibly even in the Mike-Watson-Shits-On-DSP-During-A-Panel era circa 2010. He'd already gotten challenged to and backed out of a lot of confrontation for talking shit online and not being able to back it up (money matches or actual fights; the latter rarely happened, you usually settled shit on the sticks with your own cash, then get a beer with the dude).

I've already mentioned in other posts about how grass roots the FGC was, and that was true for video hosting as well. There was some dude named Zack, -- ironically, I think from the Seattle area -- who had a website originally intended to host tournament/money match footage for MvC2 when it was the most popular fighting game in the country, but eventually that expanded to other games and he was hosting footage on servers, operated purely on donations, and it existed before Youtube was even really a thing. The FGC already had people going around tournaments recording footage -- sometimes camcorder, sometimes direct capture -- and Phil wasn't special in that regard. Tournament organizers would upload all their shit to Zack's site and people downloaded it.

Now, DSP could've had an in with Team Spooky, who helped the FGC blow up on Twitch. Dave actually was decent friends with Arturo Sanchez (Art actually came up to CT every so often to chill and CT people would go to NYC -- whole tristate area knew each other), who you'd know as NYCFurby from the incident where DSP went in and shit on MvC:I and banned some dude with mod powers he had no reason to have. He was mod there because he was friends with Art.

Arturo was really good friends with Vic, who started Team Spooky out of the basement of some place he was renting in Brooklyn, I believe, and a few other people in the area who were friends with DSP were involved as well: Josh "NerdJosh" Jodoin, and Min... I don't remember his last name, but he's a chubby Korean dude who's super chill and likes to smoke pot and get drunk. He had every opportunity to repair his reputation with the FGC by trying to go through his connections to Team Spooky after he started to blow up on YT, but he rode that jump in fame and he just kept distancing himself from it by shitting on people and inflating his accomplishments.

Yes, he may have killed his own golden goose, but he would've had to do work to nurse it back from the brink of death because he was damaging that embryo in the womb more than he claims his mother did by smoking while she was pregnant with him.

lmao after more than a year I go to DSP's twitch channel, he isn't live, so I check the Highlights. Play the Red Dead Redemption 2 one where he crashes into something with the horse, I look at the chat replay, first thing I see: "Do you ride Kat like that?"

What a sad fucking existence, over the years his audience demographics change for the worse, right? I wonder if he will snap some day and rage quit the stream or mass ban everyone on a huge spergout.

Ah, but that is the FGC community. His Machinima manager saw a guy on their roster who played the game on a 'pro level' that they could use to do this sort of thing. The Pro-pros were competing not making LPs. Additionally, the YT/Machinima audience were most likely not hardcore FGC folks. Those that are might still watch the vids ( $$$ as we are in the pre-Ad-Blocker days ) to post negative comments/down vote, but back then more so then now, Views are Views! Can't skip those ads back then! Tinfoil hat time, but who better to promote views to a new type of video than someone with a built in audience that might watch the vides just ot be salty. Good Cop/Bad Cop. Face/Heel ( to use wrestling terms ) and who better to draw the viewers in each and every time to rail against him in the comment section if you knew he already had a 'heel/buffoon' rep within the FGC than D$P?

On a side note and to my previous post, Basshunter had been on the rise utilizing the internet not only as a source medium for his songs*, but a means to get them Worldwide attention. A savvy MCN manager would not have missed things such as this...and could have been trying to groom D$P to capitalize on his FGC infamy to their advantage.

I know where you're coming from, I just wanted to give a bit of history and comment on his relationships with people in the community, particularly those who were successful in that same venture around the same time frame, to give a little bit of context.

It wouldn't have been as simple as just showing up at tournaments and, even if he didn't play ("Where am I playing? You still haven't told me!"), setting up a camera to record and putting it on Youtube. All of the regional/semi-regional/national tournament organizers knew each other, talked, and were great friends and DSP would've had to rebuild a lot of burned bridges to be accepted.

The community had been making moves in that realm for a while by the time Machinima would've pushed him to do it, so they would've not had any real reason to take him back, so to speak, and he would've had to put work in.

Ad block is way before YouTube. I think 2001 or so

How fucked is DSP currently, with Swagginz being gone and his viewers getting banned/leaving at a daily basis?

Is it bad, or is there another Paypig at the start (like always)?

Considering he's stopped talking about taxes I'd say things are fine for the foreseeable future. No risk of homelessness being mentioned, just the usual begging.

As an addendum to my previous posts on this, here's actually some footage re-uploaded to YT a few years ago. You'll see in the description that it was originally recorded/uploaded/owned by 'Preppy', this was the guy Zack I was talking about who had the tournament footage hosting platform, and this money match between DSP and Mixup was in 2004.

This was at ECC that year, which was held at 8 on the Break in Dunellen, New Jersey. They had a regional there every year on Memorial Day weekend, and top players from all over the East Coast would show up, even from as far as Florida. I remember all of this because some people had a setup in the back of a car at the hotel pretty much everyone was staying at and I remember getting some games in vs. Mixup in the parking lot.

Just listen to the commentary in the beginning to get an idea of how the FGC saw DSP, even before he started on YT, and before his Evo 4th place 'victory'. Then proceed to watch him get demolished 10-0. The FGC didn't need him to go around recording shit and the community already disliked him, and he knew it. That's probably why he rejected the idea from Machinima.

He doesn't give a shit. Not about Kat's wellbeing, anyway, because if he did he wouldn't have dragged her out in front of 600 mostly-memelords on multiple occasions knowing what a penny circus his chat is. As far as his own emotional health he's willing to sacrifice it to a large degree so long as it keeps the bucks rolling in. I have no doubt that he goes to sleep most nights repeating some mantra about how much better he is than the detractors what with his two properties (that he's under water on), his doting wife (whose spousal duties appear to be second to acting as Tyrone's slampig), dream job (no consistent income, no benefits, no retirement plan or training...), etc., etc.

It's been interesting but unsurprising that despite the wedding, the vacation, the taxes being settled and no longer an issue...he's been his most out of touch, short tempered, and petty in quite a while once he really learned the extent that people saw through his lies. Mods leaving his channel had more of an effect on his demeanor than getting married. He'll get pissed for 15 minutes about chat spamming emotes but is resigned to his wife never spending time with him because it is what it is.

Whatever he's telling himself at night isn't working any more.

His big ones are slowly drying up. Swagginz and lordlamb were the most visible recent ones. ttv_noble allegedly is also gone. infinite55 has been notably absent aside from a $25 tip this month. There are still others like PlanetJeff, Rob Warren, flybeast, henk douma, and so on who will show up on occasion.

As for why he's stopped talking about taxes? He got his payment, and he also got two months worth of Twitch income due to the change in payouts they made. So between that, his two begathons, and Mama Burnell's $4k, he's feeling flush. Watch what happens the next few months, though, when he doesn't plan ahead and the lack of whaling starts to take effect. And what's he going to do about 2019's tax payments? He had to get a payment plan for last year--they won't do that a second time.

This interests me. A key chapter that I recall as part of the Leanna Saga was Phil rejiggering his schedule to (supposedly) spend more time with her. To my knowledge that hasn't really happened with Kat, and now we have a man who could literally work any hours he wished throwing up his hands and giving us the ol' Nuttin' I Can Do. Resigning himself to barely seeing his new wife hardly smacks of marital bliss.

Holy shit, this was a beautiful thing to watch. Wonder if Dave's seen it. Wonder if his chat's seen it. Wonder if his chat's seen it especially when he's playing a fighter and reminiscing about how badass he used to be....

Well, Leanna actually wanted to spend time with him. Kat, by all appearances, does not. She doesn't do co-op (even from a separate room). When she's been present on stream, she looks like a hostage. So she's probably 100% fine with him streaming so she doesn't have to deal with him more than 1 day a week.
