Hussie is a weird fucking man. He's a guy who's got to be in his mid-late thirties at this point writing a fucking novelized epilogue to his webcomic, the point of which seems to be to piss off what's left of his fans. A part of me wants to say the whole "edgy stupid-on-purpose meta-narrative" schtick is getting played out, and he should hang it up already. Another part of me wants to applaud the guy for taking a big swing at his awful fans and putting an end to his legacy on his own terms.

You forgot to mention the bit where he leaves it on a cliffhanger to continue it for another 10 years, if the SkaiaNet website is anything to go by.

He's not entirely involved with writing this I don't think, it's a group of people that have taken over for him. But yes, he is a weird fucking man.

I wouldn't give them that much credit. As best as I've been able to parse from the "co-writers" regarding the Epilogues and story, it seems that all they did was proofread whatever Hussie wrote and put it out, regardless of context, after they got the general gist of everything. The smoking gun here: the fact that the original plot threads involving Hitler from SkaiaNet (despite originally being deleted with an apology added on top of it) made their way into the Epilogues anyways, despite all of them overseeing it being incredibly apologetic saying they should've looked over it better.

Methinks that same mistake happened again. Only this time, I can't even really blame them; unless you're an uber fan of Homestuck: would you honest-to-God read want to proofread nearly 700 pages of this after you've been working on it since 2016?

Here is a present-day picture of Hussie, and he looks exactly like what you would picture him to be after reading the epilogue:

What was he even doing in downtown Toronto anyway? It’s not exactly an exciting tourist city and he was definitely not a guest at any Canadian convention I’ve heard of.

YIIK is another horrifying mess that's fun to pick apart. Basically Alex (The main character) says some nasty stuff that's supposed to set up his redemption arc (Some if it was actually pretty reasonable though lol). This is LOUDLY flagged as unacceptable behaviour by the characters around Alex, Alex's future inner monologue narrating the story and Alex's inner monologue at the time.
People were still absolutely enraged and said the devs condoned his actions even though it was constantly drilled in that Alex was supposed to be a shithead.

If your plot point is to be constantly reminding us "HEY, You're not supposed to like this guy at all", pull a Final Fantasy 12 and have the MC be more of a side character whose really just there to be an annoying and deriding the overall plot. Oh, and not to mention have the plot be inspired by a real life case of a girl who killed herself, shows how poorly thought out the story was.

One thing I always found bemusing was how Alex's shirt is a constant plug to the Dev's abandonware game Two Brothers, which you can't even buy, so why advertise it?

Wait isn't this story over? They beat Lord English, finished the game and sort of ascended to godhood and all that crap and now live happily ever after in wierd couples and friendships and do their own things? Didn't they beat Lord English literally years ago?

I am deeply unnerved by how big his head is. Especially because his neck is thick as hell and he has the most narrow shoulders I've seen in my life. The dude looks topheavy.

He looks like he'd shatter if he fell over, which he is on the verge of doing.

Per the OP, Zoe Quinn(Chelsea Vanvalkenburg) is a Hussie hanger-on(as well as Questionable Content & Dumbing of Age's creators). Did she have thoughts on the current Homestuck content drop? Of course she did.

No one gives a fuck about Goddess Mode & you are not a comic creator, Chelsea.

saw everyone get super riled up over this on Reddit so I finally gave it a read. got most of the way through meat so far and honestly I kinda like it? we finally get an explanation for Caliborn's Masterpiece and some elaboration on the Lord English fight, and some updates on how the characters are doing.
John is my favorite character in all this. His development here is the same as in the non-canon snaps, and I like how he's portrayed coming to terms with his own depression and his alienation of his friends.

Jane is way too on-the-nose as a Trump stand-in, but we see enough of her outside of just being a one-dimensional Trump metaphor that I don't mind it that much. While she... was barely an actual character in the webcomic proper, her relationship with the Condesce at least gives some reasoning for this choice of characterization.

More details on the specific nature of Dave and Karkat's relationship was good. I never really hated the pairing, just the stupid hamfisted way it was introduced with pretty much no setup, but this sheds some more light on the situation.

Jade being a sex-addicted slut is kinda funny, and could logically follow from what little characterization she has in the webcomic proper (little human contact and poor social skills, bubbly exterior hiding deeper emotional turmoil).

Dirk has always been a controlling, scheming asshole, that's literally 95% of his characterization, not sure why people are surprised this is being taken up to 11 after he literally gains omniscience.

I honestly don't even mind Roxy being non-binary. She's been living with a genderless green skeleton for the last 5-6 years, and in her life before she's literally a hermit living among chess people so it's not like she has a good reference for what gender norms even are. If Hussie HAD to hamfist a non-binary human character she's like the only sensible choice.
As far as the metatextual bullshit goes, it asks some decent questions but doesn't give adequate answers, in my opinion. The thing that stuck out to me was the bit where John mulls over whether the doomed kids he gathered up were as "real" as their adult versions on Earth-C, but this thread is pretty much dropped with them all dying precisely because they're not as "real", without much fanfare.

I mean she was introduced as a furry, and that's par for the course with them.
