Would we let a person with normal body dysmorphia cut off their arms?

Apt comparison. This is one of my favorite articles on transsexual paraphilia and compares it to amputee paraphilia:
https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2000/12/a-new-way-to-be-mad/304671/

If the article is too long for folks to read, it discusses amputation/amputee fetishism and erotic target location error; then it briefly touches upon the waxing and waning of various mental illnesses as they manifest and present differently in different cultures throughout history. Finally, the author compares both cases to the current waxing of "gender dysphoria" and remarks upon ethics of treating it with gender reassignment. The author doesn't draw a formal conclusion, but he clearly paints gender reassignment as being an ethically compromised practice. He draws to a close on the case of amputee paraphilia, "These people need help, but when the therapy in question is irreversible and disabling, it is not at all clear what that help should be." The article was originally published nearly 20 years ago, by the way.

Just let it sink in that in a trans community on Reddit 94% of the users wan't babies to suck on their "boobs".
How are people on the same earth as me capable of thinking about children like this?

This reminds me of how the pedophiles in Chicken Hawk would recount stories about how a nine year old was leading them on and making seductive facial expressions. They all think like this.

It's frustrating to see some of them bordering self-awareness yet come to ridiculous conclusions.

This comment thread is worth a read
Surprisingly the most upvotes were for people saying "people need to know about the terrible shit that can happen when you cut off your dick" . But the best is some troon angrily debates them saying to "not complain" if they're not trying to make the surgery results better (wtf?!) and lets it slip out that he basically wants SRS soooooooo bad and will do anything to get it.

“STOP TELLING ME DANGEROUS UNTREADED THING IS DANGEROUS AND UNTREADED BECAUSE THEN I WONT WANNA DO IT ANYMORE”
Are we sure he wasn’t put on puberty blockers at four? Because that’s a toddlerish reasoning if I’ve ever seen one.

Even worse is the fact that crazy troon doctors are enabling their predatory behavior by helping them induce lactation so they can "feed" the babies they obtain through God knows what means.

And it wouldn't be published today, the same as that old Rolling Stone article about Lana Wachowski, at least the Atlantic didn't memoryhole this one.

Also, I'm like 90 percent sure those are A cups.

Lmao I fucking HATE the puberty blocker argument. People don't realize that once you do that, you basically are creating a eunuch. I am jazz is punching the air rn lmaooo
"Puberty blocking" is a euphemism for chemical castration.
Like all pedo-cults, they prey on the young, as early as possible.
I once got into a discussion (argument) about puberty blockers with a MTF friend of mine. I said that I didn't like the idea of putting kids on puberty blockers because I don't think a child is capable of making decisions like that. Here were their arguments for why I would be an abusive parent (if my kid was trans) and also how I'm contributing to tranny suicides. Note there were no sources provided for any of this.
  1. The only kids who ever stop transitioning are the ones who have unsupportive parents. Actually, no. I'm pretty sure something like 80% of kids/teens who identify as trans change their minds.
  2. It's reversible, so if the kid DOES change their mind at some point, it won't do any permanent damage. Also not true, as Jazz Jennings has proven.
  3. Also, I'm a bad person for saying that someone is too young to make that decision. They should make that decision for themselves. When I pointed out that a teenager is probably not a legal adult yet and thus CAN'T make a lot of decisions for themselves, they responded 'it's not about the law, it's about who you are'. Only it's really not that much different. People change. I don't really know of anyone who could solidly say at 8 years old (when you start puberty blockers) that they wanted to be the other gender for the rest of their life, and go so far as to CHOP BODY PARTS OFF TO DO IT. I honestly worry about Jazz Jennings. I don't think she deserves this at all and honestly, it's going to lead to her suicide. I don't know when, but she's going to eventually realize what she's done to her body and it's not going to end well. And considering she was supposedly trans from a very young age, I don't really feel like she deserves that, as it took years of brainwashing to get her where she is. I blame her parents. Unfortunately, they probably won't be the ones to pay the price down the road.
But honestly, this person is definitely biased anyway. They admitted that they wish they'd been given puberty blockers. I actually didn't know much about blockers then or I would've had better arguments.
Would we let a person with normal body dysmorphia cut off their arms? Or maybe their nose? No?
Then why are we letting(and normalizing)people basically do the exact same thing. The fact that people kill themselves after transitioning on a massive scale, already cause for concern.
This is literally the only mental illness that's enabled. You don't tell someone with anxiety 'yeah, you're right, everything's shit and everyone hates you', nor do you go to an anorexic person and tell them they're fat. You don't tell someone with depression to go kill themselves. Transgenderism is absolutely a mental illness. I don't care what the American Psychiatric Association says. It is not just a 'medical condition'. That is one of several things in the DSM-5 that I would argue was a reckless change and I sincerely hope that it's amended if/when the DSM-VI is released.

fat chance lol
at this point they're more likely to formally label "transphobia" a mental illness than they are to reverse their troon-positive position on transgenderism itself.
Well, considering it was 20 years between DSM-IV and DSM-5, and the DSM-IV-TR (second most recent edition) was still almost 15 years before DSM-5, I'm pretty optimistic that by the next time a new edition is released that this wave of SJW bullshit will be over. I think 2013 was around when the transgender craze truly began to kick in (I had never met a tranny myself until that year) and it really gained traction after Bruce Jenner came out as trans shortly after. I honestly think that in the near future it'll all die down and they can reclassify it as a mental illness next time an addition is released.

That being said, the APA is currently considering making 'video game addiction' its own diagnosis, which seems equally reckless (video game addiction should probably be considered a symptom of a bigger issue and not its own thing) so who knows?

When I 6-7, I thought I was a cat.

I can only imagine, 10 years down the line, it'll be transphobic to not allow kids to identify as their animal self, and allow them to undergo body modification to get whiskers or a cleft lip like that lion person however long ago.

'Don't kink shame me' is already full of loud mouths. Why not go even further?

Edit: I really munged that comment up. Keyboard's fucked. Sorry.

Oh god, don't jinx it. We already have otherkin. Let's not go there.

Also, you're probably thinking of this guy, who did as much as he could to turn himself into a tigress (so I guess he was trans too?) and ended up killing himself. Yet people still think bodily modifications are a good idea?

'buT iT's diFfEreNt!' fuck you, no it's not. Chopping your dick off (or your tits) is not reversible. Once it's gone, it's gone and you can't really do anything about it. It's not something you should just do because you don't feel like having it.

That guy was called Dennis Avner and he wanted to be a female tiger. Not sure why he had to specify the sex of the tiger.

Anyway, he killed himself in his garage, lol.

First time on this thread but just wanted to ask a question, why are there so many male to female than there are female to male?
It's fetishism.
Fetish, and it honestly could have a bit of social conditioning involved. Think about it. Nobody thinks twice about a girl chopping all of her hair off and dressing in boy's clothing. Sure, she may be asked if she's a lesbian, but that doesn't even always happen. Also, women are known to be more emotional. A dude cries and he's told to man up. If a woman does, everyone gives her asspats.

If a girl likes to play in the mud and enjoys 'masculine' hobbies like dirtbiking or something, nobody cares. If a boy likes to play house and enjoys 'feminine' hobbies like knitting or whatever, people are going to raise an eyebrow at it. How many stories have we heard of MTF who transitioned because they liked more feminine things?

I think TERFs are right about social conditioning (to an extent), but I think they're wrong about which gender is getting the raw deal.
It's official, these people are more desperate than incels.
Obviously. At least with an incel they have some chance with way more people. Not a lot of people are into banging trannies unless they're fetishists, which trannies hate. That's why you'll see a lot who claim to be pansexual--because being picky and insisting on a certain gender means you probably won't get any. No lesbian wants to date a chick who has a dick, and if a gay dude wanted pussy, he'd be straight. As for post-op....let's not go there.
