Everybody has been flocking to streaming, then that has to lose it's appeal for let's playing to REALLY die. Let's play's will be around for a while but it will die a slow painful death.

Dan getting downvoted gives me hope that the game grumps subreddit can still be saved.

Also Dan is fucking full of shit. When a series fails it's not because of the algorythm, it's because you fuckers ruin it and somehow you managed to ruin EVERYTHING so far.

Sonic Adventure 2 started with great views and managed to keep it strong but no matter how the fans try to enjoy it, you keep pushing the fanfiction bullshit every episode. The series started great (+800k views) It was okay the first time but after the third it was painful and you started dropping below 500k. You stopped for a bit but then you bought it AGAIN and it the next video after dropping to near 250k. You can see how in part 11 the views start rising again but then you titled episode 12 as "Someone say more fanfic?" and after that video it dropped hard, thus dooming the LP forever.

I dont understand why they do this. They have no self awareness. If something goes right, it's because "Arin is literally a god" but if something goes wrong it's "the algorythm that killed it". Somehow the views dropping is never it's their fault, it's never considered a possibility.

But the question is, why did they keep reading fanfics? Is it because they're retarded? Kinda but it's mostly because EVERYONE was asking for more fanfics, both on youtube and the mainsub. These blind fanboys who enable their garbage content are activelly killing the channel by convincing Arin and Danny that drinking poison is good. And there is no way to salvage this because the only "antidote" is criticism, and all critics were silenced long ago.

tl;dr: Arin is basically drowning under his own ego and fans are cheering him to dive deeper.

You know this reminds me of the NerdCubed subreddit drama where one person made a rather strongly worded post criticizing his work which result in Nerd3 leaving reddit, and eventually resulting in his subreddit turning into nothing more than a rather small hugbox. Obviously not quite the same, but it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out, and I would not be surprised if we suddenly see the main subreddit get much more locked down than it was previously.

Two videos immediately come to mind whenever I hear these complaints. For the people who always scream "How would YOU know better than a 7-year-old business who has the analytics!? Why don't you get a REAL job and stop HARASSING Dan and Arin, you no-life shits?", it pertains to this bit by comedian Steve Hoffstetter.


As for the point of fan entitlement, here's something from two very well-known Let's Players who've also been doing this for almost a decade discussing that exact same topic, from both perspectives, and discuss why artist v. consumer entitlement is kind of a really bullshit argument for any medium.


This is some smoothbrain shit right here: it's a channel about two guys dicking around on a couch, not some fucking cult. But hell if it doesn't seem like one at the moment: people are losing their shit and calling brigading over copypastas.

Copypastas are apparently evil now.

EDIT: Y'know I think I figured out exactly why this whole thing is both incredibly laughable but also slightly unsettling to watch unfold: it's literally like watching a cult tear itself apart right before my very eyes. Kinda like Jonestown, only more spergy and focused around playing vidya all day. Only now we're reaching the part in the story where the cult leaders slowly realize they're losing grips on the matter and may have to do something drastic. In their case, it was conditioning people into drinking poison Kool-Aid; with Game Grumps, not so sure. I am, however, incredibly curious to see just what happens once the show goes up in flames.
