To be honest, I actually don’t mind this one. Sure the idea is a little lame, but at least the character designs aren’t hideous or ironically disrespectful, there aren’t any stupid gender or sexuality flags in there, and the characters aren’t decked out in more flags than necessary.

I can answer this, unfortunately. It was a running “gag” (if you can even call it that) on Tumblr that Thor would be a great wingman for lesbians because his whole thing is getting rowdy drunk and being friendly with everyone.

I think it was just a lot of straight chicks on Tumblr who LARP as man-hating lesbians had a crisis of conscience when they realized they had the hots for a conventionally attractive white manly man so they came up with the above nonsense to justify liking him to themselves.

Cause it's entry level anime. You see this with Naruto, as well as Hetalia (especially back in the day, cause the episodes were so short and the names were easy to remember). Same goes for Sailor Moon. It's a shame, cause it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even though most of these series are good

So they basically got driven off Tumblr for not being American and never really understood why so many people were sending them angry messages and threats.

Worst part was it didn’t even seem like white-washing or deliberately making Garnet lighter (and even if they were it’s fucking fan art), they were just trying to emphasize the glow emanating from her gems.

Yes, there's plenty of art cows who don't change or learn anything in art but they stick around. There's a few that even go backwards like Rory. Tumblr isn't a place of constructive criticism, even if you wanted it the site is formatted so poorly you'd never know when you got it. Tearzah while doing decent art when she was younger has degraded into copy and pasting things.
