Game of Thrones Thread

I wouldn't give him too much credit just yet. We don't know how much of Euron is real magic and how much is just glamor/confidence game shit. The idea of some fucked up pirate looting the ruins of Old Valyria for magical artifacts (including a full suit of valyrian steel armor and horn that can bind dragons to his will) is almost too good to be true.
From what I read looks like only a Dragonlord immune to fire can blow the horn, everyone Euron forces to use it dies burnt from the inside out. But who knows, I've given up on Fat Man.

Just remember, Big Dick "finger up the bum" pirate has done about the same as the Night King. This guy who bears absolutely no resemblance to the character from the books who shows up out of nowhere has done more to combat the Targarryan forces in one or two episodes than most others have all show.

Honestly while the show might be utterly ultrafucked beyond repair now, watching the realtime immolation of the fandom has been rather fun if like me you take near sexual gratification in watching peoples hopes and optimism break and die

I'm afraid of what the aftermath will be, with harry potter it was fairly self contained since the ending has a sense of structure and satisfied most, but this? The fucking GOT fandom will now spread to farther lands hoping and searching for their idealized fantasy series and bring all their normie dreck with them. This will be beyond End of Evangelion levels of spergery, this will be something that will try and turn everything in the surrounding area into GOT but with a proper ending and these fools will keep arguing on what constitutes a proper ending.

Build a fucking wall to keep these people out.

Are D&D now deliberately trying to piss off/disgust as many people in the fandom as possible? I am so fucking glad I jumped ship years ago. Now I can just sit back and laugh as the whole sorry, fucked up mess goes up in flames.

"Subverting expectations" only works if you competently understand why the twist would appeal to people. TLJ actively looked to piss people off and was smug about it. The NK incident let people down after years of buildup. At the end of the day, people want a satisfying show they can look back on, not the writers and directors preaching to them or making stupid decisions for the sake of shock value.

Ugh. I looked at the spoilers on Freefolk. I'm done, I think.

An even more fundamental problem with this direction has occurred to me which I'm assuming will be completely glossed over: Cersei isn't really a villain to anyone except the show characters at this point. No one outside the North knows or is going to believe what happened with the Night King and they were already a tiny fraction of Westeros' population to begin with. The Lannisters don't exactly seem to be terrorizing the general populace any more than other factions. They don't keep slaves so there isn't any appetite for an uprising like there was when Danerys came to Meereen. Aren't Jon and Danerys just a couple of assholes with a horde of migrants dragging out an endless war to the rest of Westeros now?
Agree, the writers rely on the character's history to provoke an emotional reaction from the audience..."see she fucks her brother and kills people! Isn't she depraved?!".

Targaryens aren't immune to fire in the books. Dany's thing with Drogo's pyre was a one-off. Dany has been burned since then. There must be something else to it.

So fucking glad the 2014 double punch of Doctor Who turning into the laziest tumblr pandering horseshit* and the finale of the absolute joke that was The Hobbit franchise managed to burn most all lingering childlike franchise hype I once had.

Like can you fucking imagine being super hyped and emotionally invested in this shit from the start and struggling through the post season 4 wasteland only to be rewarded with this?

* that fcking moon episode....jesus christ

You think you got it bad; my favorite books as a kid were A Wrinkle in Time and The House with a Clock in Its Walls.

I grew up on The Hobbit, too, but I knew that was going to be a dumpster fire the moment I heard they were splitting it into three films.

In the books perhaps but in the series she burned the khal lodge down and walked out nekkid like "Check me out you guys are with me now". In the House of the Undying she had her baby dragons burn that warlock and she was engulfed in flames.

In the books it's implied a Dragonlord was more than just hopping onto a dragon and taking it for a spin and I haven't read Dany's into dragon spells or whatever.

Amusing sidenote: Emilia Clarke's last big project before that season was Teriminator Genisys. When it flopped harder than a fat man botching a dive at a wave pool, and her performance specifically was cited as one of the worst things about it, I said to a buddy of mine, "I bet she starts doing nude scenes on Thrones again." Lo and behold.
