I had a thought, do we actually know that he never flew out to meet her somewhere? He'd post about how he was having a nice week off or what he was doing at home, but we also know he's a complete liar and as he claimed during the wedding week, he thought to post pictures at different times of different things they were doing so no one could find them.

Maybe Phil met her in Michigan the first week off. Maybe they both flew to Disneyland for the second week. Maybe the tax money wasn't going to fly Kat to him, but to fly them both to multiple showy vacations to convince her Phil had money to burn.
