Man this influencer shit is just dumb. Of course dark isn’t an influencer, he doesn’t fucking know anything about shit he hypes up, he just acted clueless about all the MK11 drama about the in game currency. He didn’t have the fuck picture of that lord of the rings games ending before praising it and calling out people who actually knew what they were talking about. Dark is just a generic shill, which is worse honestly lol.

How can you trust angry joe because he got paid to review something? Well how the fuck can I trust anything you say? You have the memory of a goldfish and consistently claim things you said with video evidence aren’t what you said....

Guy who lies through his teeth almost daily questions how you can’t trust others...imagine that
This is actually a really great point lol. This dude knows jack shit about the gaming industry beyond whatever AAA games are coming out for his "schedule". He participates in none of the online communities that revolve around gaming and by his own admission he doesn't even watch or talk to other content creators. On top of this, whenever Phil actually gives his opinion about a game it's basically just two sentences with no explanation. Just today he said that Donkey Kong Country 2 was his favorite DKC game because it had "good level design" with no further thought or input.

Considering Phil didn't even make his "10 year legacy" from doing reviews, one has to wonder where the fuck he gets the idea that he's so informed on what makes a game good or bad in the first place.

It doesn't, a lot of the online community just whines about fair use despite what the creators say. That being said, I think it was a few of the Kingdom Hearts and the Dragon Quest Heroes that had strict streaming guidelines in the in game legal documents. Then there was the "Don't go past x-date in Persona 5" and probably more I just don't remember or don't know.
Developers make that kind of stuff pretty clear. If you are ever playing a game on PS4, like Phil does 99% of the time, a thing will pop up in the corner saying "entering blocked scene game recording paused" or something close to that. I'd bet uploading those moments to YouTube trigger the content id system. So every time he sees that he should mentally note that an id strike might be coming.

Those don't flag the moderation system, at least they shouldn't or don't always flag it. Atlus allowed streaming/youtubing of Persona 5 up to a specific in game date; the problem is, the entire game was blocked from the built-in streaming software the PS4 has. So anyone streaming it, had to have a third-party capture device. It's the same way with Tales of Berseria on the PS4; about 99% of the game is blocked via the built-in streaming, but still allowed steaming/youtubing.

What I'm talking about is the dev saying "It's okay to stream/youtube, but here are our stipulations."

The stipulations for Dragon Quest Heroes can be found here.

I'm not gonna require you to click that, so here's a copy paste of some of it.

While that's not the whole thing, that's part of it. I'm not a lawyer, nor am I going to pretend to be and try to argue "fair use" like many do. But they're pretty fucking totalitarian with what they find to be acceptable etiquette for streaming or posting gameplay.

Meh, you might consider it totalitarian, but they're well within their rights to do it, it's their fucking IP and their property to allow or disallow. Streamers/LPers are pretty fortunate that these companies allow them to do it at all, tbh, and that they perceive it to be a benefit for advertising their game, and that they don't try to claim a portion of the income, because they would 100% be within their rights to do so.

It's like when Nintendo was claiming everything and Dave bitched about it, saying he's giving them free advertising. Bitch, they don't need your advertisement, they're fucking Nintendo, everyone knows Mario and Zelda and that a new game is coming out.

No, I agree with you on that, it is the company's property and they have the right to set rules and regulations as they see fit. If they don't protect and work to defend what is theirs, they can risk losing it, because courts are fucking weird like that. A lot of these people seem to think companies need to go out of their way to be charitable towards streamers and youtubers. When no, they're a company, their obligations are to their shareholders; who in a perfect world, would be happy with the company making money by showing good will towards the customers and not trying to fuck them over with horrible grinds, lootboxes, etc.

They argue "I give free advertising!" - Nobody fucking asked you to.
They argue "Fair use!" - I'm not a lawyer but it's their IP, they probably have more of a right to it than you.

And to top it off, Youtube/Twitch isn't obligated to host them either. I can say a lot about how both platforms are full of retarded mods and they can't keep consistent with their own rules; but it's their platform, they can axe who they want. Same with Youtube. They're also the ones who throw out ads, partnerships, and all that other shit. The people who've made it their business may be doing well, but the system is sketchy at best and while they can call it "My business," it's on a borrowed platform, better make yourself irreplaceable or have an exit strategy.

Wow I completely forgot Nintendo use to just not let people make money off their game videos. And this dude has the nerve to say he pays for the right to do whatever the fuck he wants with the games XD

Although I’m pretty sure his old logic use to be Nintendo was breaking the law, and would lose easy in court, which is just a hot yikes.

Sometimes I wonder where the line is in darks mind, how much bullshit does he spout that he actually tricks himself into believing, and how much is just incoherent noise coming from his uncensored verbal diarrhea

The Salty Pig - A Farce In Four Parts

Part I:
The balding conman, Philip "Darksydephil" Burnell, just wants a chill stream with no talk of detractors.
"THEY would love for me take a session of my nice Chill Stream time to talk about them! And I'm not going to do that!"

Part II:
The small-handed grifter, Philip "Darksydephil" Burnell, is baited with a $1 tip into ranting about the giveaways he's done over his 11 Year Beggacy, in comparison to the giveaways that Tevin, his nemesis, has done.
"All you've done is proven, you're a fucking moron!"
"My autograph alone, to some people, is worth more than anything that Tevin will EVER DO in his entire fucking life! So choke on that, Bitch!"

Part III:
The greasy e-beggar, Philip "Darksydephil" Burnell, gives his viewers a brief overview on the internet career of his nemesis, Almighty_Tevin. He then addresses Tevin directly.
"You need me. You need me as your component for success. You can't do it on your own. Then, you're not successful at all."

Part IV:
The internet panhandler, Philip "Darksydephil" Burnell, performs a feat of mental gymnastics to justify how his gameplay videos are fair use, and Tevin commenting over DSP gameplay streams is illegal and immoral.
"I paid for the right to use this game in my video! He did not pay a damn thing!"

What a chill and positive stream, guys.

What a chill and positive stream, guys.
He was pretty unhinged tonight, and that's even with this post missing the clip where he got off his couch to sell a shitty joke about how little he cares about Tevin restreaming him (spoiler: he cares very much).

Also funny how he claims Tevin is getting a bump in 'clout' (fucking hate when this boomer retard uses young people words like that) from restreaming Phil... but that doesn't make sense if Tevin's views are inflated by viewbots, does it Phil? Which is it? And he's still sticking to the 'restreaming with commentary is illegal dood', which is just asinine.

I don't remember what video it was or when it came out; but I remember him bitching about a company (maybe GE, don't remember) making a change in business practices so they don't go under. He whines like they committed some cardinal sin by making changes so they don't go bankrupt. This gives the idea that Phil is one of those guys who is a true creature of habit, and any deviation from the familiar can wreck him. So when most companies are fine with streaming/youtube and letting them make money; Nintendo had to break the mold by being some giant bully and how dare they snatch money from those doing all that "hard work." So I don't think he tricks himself into believing shit; it's that he takes minimal information and acts like it's written in stone and when that solidifies in his mind, any deviation isn't accepted.

As i think about the Angry Joe rant, If he wasn't an all-around asshole, he'd be in Joe's place and making serious coin.

I can only guesstimate that he's lost 10s of thousands in potential income over the years and it could be down to laziness, ignorance, arrogance, and/or plain jealousy.
Phil just sets himself to be fucked over.

Don't forget that for as much as Phil claims he'd be ok with Tevin and others being successful on their own outside of restreams (Tevin does fine on Mixer, and sorry Phil, has the charisma to stream better than you), he 100% got Txt and BhilPurnell banned from Twitch, and likely Tevin as well.

If he's gonna act like a single 3 year old tweet is worth a week of Sweet Justice, there's no way he'd accept the success of anyone who shits on him regularly.

It's why his "I let Leanna drive my car even though we were broken up, I'm such a nice guy" is so fucked. He's a petty child as soon as anyone wrongs him.

We all know why he does this - he has to make himself look as good as possible in any stream discussion, since that is his place of power and authority and it's centered on Phil just how he likes it.

Tevin's doing well? That's because of me. Tevin is doing well on something other than making fun of me? He's using viewbots, he did it before. In this way, Phil looks as good as possible since he couldn't just make the problem go away entirely by getting Twitch staff to capitulate to his demands. Everything is a zero sum game to Phil and he has to come out perfect in every scenario; he takes credit for positives, blames others for the negatives, and seeks pity for things that he can't avoid.

Leanna broke up with me because I'm a fat, lazy, inattentive partner? No, actually I broke up with her. And I was really good to her about the breakup. But like you said, in real life and 'behind the scenes' as he likes to say, he's always doing underhanded shit like that.

Phil just sets himself to be fucked over.

Not gonna try to justify an exact number, but I'm willing to say at least a few millions.

He was in debt, Youtube helped him get out of debt, buy the CT Condo, lease a BMW for several years, on top of all the other "gamer shit" he purchased. Even if his finances weren't perfect, he was somehow able to get a home loan, finance a move across country, and buy all new furniture and stuff for his new house. I know a lot of that was put on cards, but he was still able to do it. Now even if he didn't have a meteoric rise; if we're to take his "ten year legacy" as a time frame, and to assume some sort of steady growth with the occasional spurt or two (like he had with KO Gaming) and him keeping up with emerging business trends; I don't think it's too far off from assuming he could've had two million at some point.

Phil thought that once he started making the big bucks on YouTube, that was it and he wouldn't ever have to worry about money ever again as long as he just kept doing his thing. He didn't for one second ever think that maybe YouTube's monetary policies would change or that audiences would not want his shitty product anymore. Phil had a huge following for a few years at his peak (2010 to 2012), which would have been the perfect time for him to do new things and become something bigger than just a let's player. Phil talks about his 10 year legacy, but most people in the gaming world have no clue who he is, and if they do know he's seen as a joke. Joe started out as AVGN ripoff #5,843 and say what you want about the guy now, he branched out to the point where he gets invited to cover all the biggest gaming conventions and events, interviews with top developers, taken seriously as a reviewer, etc.. It could have been Phil, but as you said, a combination of laziness and a terrible personality have limited Phil to begging on a daily basis. He doesn't have anybody to blame but himself, which he probably knows deep down and why he's so fucking bitter and jealous of more successful people.

Always liked when he got fired from Machinima he brought up his contact asking him other things he would like to do like maybe commentating fighting game tournaments. Phil brought this up like the guy was stupid and annoying him. Why would he do anything else? He was making bank and would be riding the gravy train for the rest of his life.

Didn't even learn from that bubble bursting. He just moved all his chips from uploading videos to live streaming videos. He's openly said he expects to do this the rest of his life outside of recently mentioning maybe getting a job in a decade or so. Twitch has already changed greatly from what it was at the start and will continue to evolve. The meme is Phil will last forever, but who knows where streaming video games will be in 5-10 years. There will be changes Phil won't adopt and people could move on to something else. Not going to predict nobody will want to watch people play video games, but the millions of people throwing millions of dollars can't last forever. It never does.

"You need me!"
Jesus, sounding a lot like Wallace Breen from Half-Life 2 there. His massive egocentric personality, broadcasting to masses of people from the safety of his fortress before being destroyed by a good Samaritan. Me thinks HL2 needs a reskin where Gordon Freeman is the chosen detractor who teams up with Panda Lee to take down the totalitarian DSP.

Once the economy hits the skids like in 2007-2008, people throwing real money at him will stop. I remember when jobs dried up for a time, banks stopped giving loans, and shit tons of people lost their livelihoods. Crowd funding streamers and ebeggers didn't exist then like it does now. It will be a very interesting sight to see that economic crunch hit that hard on these people.

Phil isn't immune to that. Eventually SuperBlindMan's tugboat will crash. PlanetJeff will run out of whatever insurance payout he got. The rich kids will be cut off by their parents. And all Phil will have is some dude flipping him quarters asking him about his gout. When that time comes he will beg to tell you about it for that quarter. And about Tevin. And Leanna. Because it will be all he has. He will give up any dignity at that point and be your whore. Mark my words. It will happen.

There's no way in hell he made that much off Youtube. He gets like ~1mil views a month, which works out to like between $1k and $2k a month, because you know he's not getting quality CPM based on his views, not being in a network or being managed, having no sponsorships or endorsements, etc. Even socialblade, which is very generous for its high end, tops him out at $35k. He's probably making like $15k, maybe $20k. Now, that's not nothing, but it's clearly something he knows is dwindling as he continues to try to shift to only Twitch.

That's not really my point, though, it's more the size of the audience. The majority of his vids get like 600 views tops. His twitch streams get like 400 on average. It doesn't make any sense to appeal to the YT audience when there's near just as many people watching him live, detractors or not, who are potential wallets.
He was in a network for half of 2018, and when Curse dropped him he commented shortly afterwards that he was actually seeing a higher CPM than when he was in network. The Estimated 'Yearly Amount' SocialBlade shows isn't really a projection, they just multiply his actual views for the last 30 days × CPM range of $0.25 to $4 × 12 months. The estimated average CPM range we have him at for 2018 is $2 to $3. Off 1 million views he is probably averaging between $2K and $3K per month.
@actually So now that it's sort of been solidified that in 2018 Phil made approximately $115K - $130K what range would this put his estimated average YouTube CPM in? According to Social Blade in 2018 between DSPGayming, THEKINGOFHATEVLOGS, and KO Gayming Phil got 17.81 million views. So take his: Total Income Range of ($115K to $130K)-(Twitch+Patreon) and divide the remainder by 17,810 to see what the low end and high end of an estimated average CPM in 2018 was for him.

I would find this interesting considering the extreme amount of 'Muh YouTube Munnies' bitching he has done continuously from: "Pissing Money" to "Basically Nuthin", only for it to turn out he makes as much money as anyone else it's just that his views continue to drop as he fades into obscurity. Would make his 'Muh thousands and thousands of avid YouTube fans' narrative a bit funny considering it would mean his YouTube munny is dropping because his viewership is dropping as people grow weary of his repetitive bullshit kahmentary.

ETA: The range between $115K and $130K would be less than a $1 difference in average CPM, so that would give a pretty good average target that may not be accurate monthly as CPM fluctuates throughout the year but would give a pretty accurate picture over the total year.
$115k-$130k would be $2-$3 average CPM, I think. I'm trying to find the post where I added up his yearly income for 2018, but I'm having trouble finding it.
So basically, without looking at the exact Twitch + Patreon numbers, Phil made between $34K to $50K from YouTube alone in 2018. . .or an average of between $2,833 to $4,167 per month from YouTube.
I'd still be interested to see the exact Twitch + Patreon numbers, but apparently between $34K to $50K per year in what Phil considers "Pissing Money" and "Basically Nothing", *BURP* 'Adpaahhkalypse dood! Nuthin I kuddo! Naht my fault! Those braindead assholes at Yootoob fucked me over by. . .'
I mean, shit, just cue up the fucking memes of Phil himself from past years talking about what a piece of shit you would have to be to be accepting donations from fans while you are making good money from YouTube, of course he actually was taking donations from fans at the time. Anyone actually giving him money should ask themselves why they are giving someone who makes up to $50K in passive income their own money, and how they feel about giving their own money to someone who as a baseline is making that much while begging for YOUR money everyday for an hour minimum.

Also, since the CPM numbers don't seem to be too anomalous, would that seem to indicate that from his Twitch + Patreon + YouTube income estimates lining up that he actually didn't receive any significant "behind the scenes" donations in 2018? Despite all the time he spent responding to every troll e-mail as if it was real and getting baited multiple times?
