I've said this before, but one reason I always hesitate to lump Bob in with the left is because any lefty with a lick of sense would see him as a total political liability. Offensive, stupid, rude, full of bluster, and a laughably obvious bigot. He's worse than useless in the scheme of things, since his influence is practically zero and unlikely to improve -- but he's just prominent enough that a clever critic could hang him around their movement's neck like a big, fat, stinking albatross when he eventually really does go too far.
