My money is on him signing up to one of these ‘therapy by text’ kind of apps that are springing up everywhere. Internet munchies use them to try to add validity to their many self diagnosed mental health illnesses. The “therapists” are very rarely qualified, or even have anything like respected accreditation. I mean what kind of actual therapist, when confronted with someone as delusional and narcissistic as Russ is, wouldn’t say woaaah this is way beyond my pay grade to even attempt to unwrap what’s going on with you?
I’m not American, but in my country therapists are more there to listen to people rather than actually diagnose and form a treatment plan for mental health illnesses. People would get referred to them by actual Doctors or mental health teams. Don’t get me wrong, real therapists do great work, but someone like Russ needs much more than simple CBT, or talking about how he feels while painting a picture of a fruit bowl. I bet he’s never even met the “therapist.” He’s chosen her from a list of profiles on an app because she’s cute and he thinks he has an “in” with her. Wonder how long it’ll be until he inserts her name into the masterpiece that is Safari Ride and expects her to fall at his feet?
