Yes, like the H-1B visa in America today. Slavery was universal before technology solved the problem of manual labor, but America does its best to keep the spirit of slavery alive with its immigration policy.

I have gripes with the h1b policy both how it affects the market rate of my labor and the lack of mobility it provides immigrants.... but in their case they at least came here willingly and in the case of most of the companies that gobble up the visas... if these guys get canned they can go back to wherever and usually their amazon/google/mic resumes will get them good employment back home.

It's really not that important, but google "h-1b" if you are interested.

All except for the best work visas only allow you to work at the company that provided the visa, if you want to be here you must accept the wages they give you and it's very hard to shop around for a new job, you're basically stuck. This does bad things to job markets that would otherwise have sky-high wages.. so instead of the 200k we deserve given the supposed demand for our labor, we only get 100k.. life isn't fair

Religious people, like monks, often give up things that most people would expect in a minimally tolerable life. I feel sorry for Catholic priests and the celibacy requirement has caused a lot of trouble in Catholicism because priests have such a hard time keeping it.

Maybe you should try going without "basic comforts" for awhile, you might find that it's actually quite therapeutic to stop being a pussy who worries mostly about the frivolous. I don't think you're a man strong enough to function without modern society.

Yeah, I wanted to weigh in on his whole "debt collection is for chumps" thing.

One of my friends owed money to a credit card company (about 1,500-2,000, IIRC), and he, in his infinite wisdom, decided "well, if I don't answer any calls from the debt collectors, they can't do anything". My friend is.....not particularly smart, because the debt collection agency assigned to get this money from him pretty much went "LOL, nope!" and would basically call his house several times a day and send him notices in the mail every few weeks. It got to the point where they would literally call him once an hour. He finally realized "Well shit, this isn't a joke" and ponied up the money.

You need google voice. I had one calling me at work so I passed him around desk to desk and we all took turns making fun of him before he could tell my boss how awful I was.

Let me tell you why they hate the West, because it is probably the same reason that I hate the West. It is the hypocrisy of the West where freedom of speech ends where political correctness ends. You can ridicule religion in a major newspaper, but no major newspaper would ever publish politically incorrect views in the West today.

One of the famous lines he parrots is that he gets banned from forums and this proves western culture is immoral, but yet he has no problem blocking people on the site who challenge him.

His understanding of history and sociology has holes the size of the Bermuda triangle and he lacks critical thinking skills. One great example is that he posted a thread about an article with the head line akin to "Study researches why fat women have hard time dating". Now if he actually read the article or the study he would have realized the study was actually done to figure out why women with body issues engage in riskier sexual acts (ie sex without a condom resulting in teenage pregnancies) then those who don't and how to prevent it. He just has complete tunnel vision.

Also his story with his college friends is laughable. He hung out with a confederacy of dunces and thinks he was rolling with mensa.
