Mrs Ethel Granger - the long-standing world-record holder that Cathie Jung strove to better. According to Wikipedia she still holds the record but it seems the page hasn't been updated as CJ whittled away another couple of inches to gain victory.

Note the influence/coercion of the husband - and his other fetishistic pleasures wrought upon his wife's body. As a private/public expression, these two are a fascinating glimpse into post-war British sexuality - when freedoms allowed (or overlooked) by the war were put back so firmly into the puritanical closet of nation-building middle-class family-life.

There must be different cuts of the movie in bongland.

See how low cut they are?
We had that front and center here in the land of the free.

And we saw her taking off her vest. A bare back! So there.

I say it was a deliberate editing choice based on likely cultural resonance. Those panties are a distinctly 70's American cut.
You see em on hipster wannabe chicks these days. Choosing the vest for the brits makes perfect sense.

pls to excuse nationalist fervor, kthnx

I think including the skimpy underwear shots was waay more of a thought out thing than getting Ripley undressed for fan service or anything like that. Alien has so much body horror, and Ripley has been through the whole movie being a badass. Seeing a vulnerable unblemished yet rather tough looking female body comes as almost as much of a shock as free facial hugs from critters. It's an interesting coda to the film in my opinion

Nope, Alien was filmed in the UK and Sigourney had obviously gotten herself a few 3-packs of Marks and Sparks white cottons (a size too small by the looks of it) for the process. Just about every female age 16-30 (and size UK 8-14) who saw that film when it was released into the cinemas was wearing the same brand. I didn't wet mine, I am pleased to report, although the Jonesy/Harry Dean Stanton fright-cut made me jump so hard I knocked the spliff out of my brother's hand. he spent most of the heart-clenching 'stop-the-self-destruct-Nostromo' sequence crawling about looking for it. Dozy git, still is.

Damn! Dropping science!
Thank you for that, those panties are really iconic in scifi, as silly as that sounds.

It's just been getting shittier since then, hasn't it? real talk tho, A friend wanted a pair of something with that cut last year and I'll be damned, both of us can shop like a bawss, but we couldn't find it in a major city. Not a single pair. Shoulda gone to Agent Provocateur or somethin'.

Agent Provocateur don't do cottons of any sort, just varying degrees of scratchy nylon-thread overlocked seams, even in their best 'silks'. They were once something special - in the mid 1990s - but are now just a money-raking vehicle for Malc and Viv's useless sprog, dedicated mostly now to selling tat to far-eastern tourists buying the name and not quality, based on glossy retro ad-books. Sad thing is, Marks and Sparks basic knickers have also declined in quality terribly over the last 25 years. Being an old bag with almost no up to date knowledge, I have no useful recommendations for you girls, except that Sloggi make the most comfortable (and least VPL-prone) knickers I know of. Yet even they aren't quite the quality they once were.

Tl;dr - Yes, in the last 20-30 years, so many things have turned to shit that you'd be hard put to name anything of reliable quality and value now.

Nothing comes between you and your Calvins.

Like this thread which once proudly spoke to the Victorian traditions of corsetry and underpinnings for fine ladies, but has now degraded to ragging on about ill-fitting knickers, truly nothing good lasts forever.

I’m kidding of course, it’s still a good thread, made better whenever Maid Maudlin doesn’t slouch in to wring precious drops of attention from an unwilling audience.

I think it's all the better that absurd tangents are running the show while she sits behind a monitor in a dark room somewhere ctrl-F'ing the shit outta the site.

@Christine Milneaux you are welcome to pop in and share your thoughts about any of these topics. We know you are here. Be interesting for a change. What do you think about the aesthetics of body horror in "Alien", or the identity shifting of the protagonist in "Hill House?"
None of these things are about her so I doubt she has an opinion.

Can we wander back over to the topic of the thread? I’m sure Sigourney Weaver’s underwear is interesting and all, but this thread is not about Sigourney Weaver’s underwear. If you need a Sigourney Weaver’s underwear thread, I can’t even finish this sentence.

I never got why Sigourney Weaver was popular, she always set off my lesbian-dar. The same way Ellen Page and Kristen Stewart did years ago. A sure fire way to check if a star is a lesbian, see if /tv/ is obsessed with them. They have an almost 100% thirst rate for lesbians.

I'm interested though in what made the corset and shapewear come back into fashion considering we are supposed to according to the media be living in the least body shaming most wokest time ever? And yet I see stuff girls that in the 1930's would say.... "thats a bit much isn't it?"

Wait why would Weaver being a lesbian mean she can’t be popular? She was popular because she was a great actor.

Well the actual thread topic is just so boring. It’s just a boring girl who writes badly and wants to be talked about. The thread gets more interesting when we stop trying to talk about her.

Popular with guys crotches is what I meant. Sorry bout that.

I feel like an actress being a lesbian makes them more popular among guy's crotches. For example, Ellen Page was super popular among men because she was an open lesbian and was also generally attractive. I'm not saying this to lessen her talent or anything, because she's not a horrible actress or anything, but a lot of people seemed to think she was like the hot lesbian type if that makes sense. Plus you could on the whole subject of how girl-on-girl is super idolized by men, but that sounds super SJW esque.

An uninspired poem, for the narcissist’s ego.

Carrie, Carrie,
Quite unliterary.
How does your garden grow?
All the fake flowers, atop your head,
While you pretend ill in gnomie’s bed.
First the fevers,
and then the aches,
but no matter your wish,
Lupus cannot be faked.

Carrie, Carrie,
Living life too ordinary,
Why must you return to us now?
Corsets and prose,
And Sigourney’s lesbian fro,
Were far better topics than thou.

Carrie, Carrie,
With illness imaginary,
Go back to school,
Or divorce the tool,
But, please, for our sakes,
Bid adieu.

Oh are we playing Dox-the-Moron yet? I was going to let her waddle away with her tail between her spastic legs but seeing as she clearly wants me to dox her...

(my gratitude to anonymous redditor who passed this on to me as I was way too busy/disinterested to do the work myself lol)
I thought she was 26? 🤔

Edit: it’s been awhile since I’ve been on LinkedIn as it’s become a Cesspool of made up titles. I was confusing her number of connections with her age. 😂
