If Buzzfeed wanted to run a hitpiece on Vic, Nick, Ty or anyone else involved they would've done it. They have had no qualms destroying people's livelihoods like Sam Hyde. However, sites like Buzzfeed are in dire straits and after the Gawker lawsuit and now the Covington lawsuits; they are in no position to fight actual lawsuits. Especially with lawyers who are gonna be able to fight them basically for free. It's not that they lack journalistic ethics, it's that they're scared of getting sued out of existence. The fact they may have gotten a nice payment to avoid a lawsuit was just the cherry on top.

So I know places like Twitter have no qualms on giving whatever info they have when the authorities get involved and that they save EVERYTHING. But I have no idea how well Discord deals with those kinds of requests. Does anyone know?
