Yeah, you go through some kind of semi-male puberty when you start T at an early age.
tbh, the standard of care for transing kids in the US (and the UK, I think) is pretty fucked up. It's a double whammy since they just keep you on GnRH agonists but not cross-sex hormones. So you basically don't go through puberty at all. This causes a whole shitload of medical issues. It'd be better just to start them on cross-sex hormones immediately so their bones don't start trying to dissolve themselves.
Or you could just not trans your kid out at all. That works too.
Medically speaking, they shouldn't be doing any of this shit. GnRH agonists we know have horrible and serious side effects that can ruin your entire life (osteoporosis, chronic fatigue conditions, "brittle bone" like conditions, etc), and doctors literally have
no idea what the health effects of taking cross-sex hormones from a young age will be, or what the health effects of skipping puberty with GnRH agonists to go straight to exogenous cross-sex hormones will be (other than total, permanent, irreversible sterility), though current indications according to the experts include sexual dysfunction, lower IQ, and emotional/mental health problems.
We know that in adults taking exogenous cross-sex hormones, it has serious health risks (for example, women who take testosterone are at an incredibly high risk for sexual dysfunction / painful sex, vaginal and uterine atrophy, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and many other conditions, while men who take estrogen are at a significantly greater risk of certain cancers, heart attacks, and sexual dysfunction / inability to become or remain aroused), so you know that the impact on children has to be much more severe, and the risks grow the longer you're taking the hormones, to the point that females who take testosterone are advised to have a hysterectomy within (iirc) six years of starting on the hormones.
And that's not even getting started on the health risks of the multiple surgeries these kids are expected to go through, the fact that they
cannot possibly understand the risks because they're
children and the trans community and the doctors all obfuscate them to the point that grown, adult trans-identifying people don't know what to expect from surgeries or medications they're on, and so many other problems with this shit on every possible level.
IMO transing children is child abuse, plain and simple. It's medicalized abuse of children. Even if they ask for it, if you give in and allow your child to transition you're no better than the opportunistic homophobes who see transitioning their gender non-conforming kids as a great way to trans away the gay. (Of course, I should add a caveat that I acknowledge there's nothing parents can do in some places, like the UK, where children can and do obtain exogenous hormones illegally or without parental permission and are allowed to trans themselves at school without their parents even being informed.) The whole idea of transitioning children goes against many, many medical ethics rules. It infuriates me.
