It's a week late but I was never aware that the Wonder Woman 1984 poster caused quite a stir. Apparently one dude basically said "the poster is confusing and looks like shit". And people went from there. I think the poster looks ugly as fuck.

I'm kind of surprised that people are defending the movie. Even though the first movie was a success I've seen a lot of people on Twitter and Tumblr who made it known that they thought the Wonder Woman movie was overrated and those same people lose their shit because Gal is "problematic" and by definition, "Asian" (but don't tell them that).

I always wondered how people get into Mensa. I knew a kid from there and when i came across a now deleted YT channel once run by the kids parents to show off their son's "smartness", it looked very obvious to me that the kid was being spoonfed lines.

Besides, I've met several people with "high IQs" and many of them didn't end up changing the world or really amounting to much because while they were smart on paper, they didn't innovate or truly think outside the box. Plus being told that they were "gifted" and "exceptional" all their lives really inflated their egos.

Difference now and back then are massive:

1. Most of these assholes come from the wealthy elite and were funneled directly into their corporate jobs as part of the "elite" rather than fucking around after college being degenerates and only rejoining straight society after they got knocked up/forced to marry and/or realized how being poor fucking suck and came crawling back to mommy and daddy to get work as the corporation they spent years raging against. So they never grow out of it.

2. Drug abuse is no longer stigmatized and treatment for overdoses/drug addiction have changed rapidly, in terms of being a feature and not a bug. Espeically among the young wealthy elite; where consequence free cocaine/pot addiction are considered a right and a feature of being part of the wealthy elite. Also, heroin is generally looked down upon as a poor man's drug these days, especially from the elites who can afford oxycotin and other opioid medication and have the money and power to have a doctor write scripts for it whenever they want it.

3. The 60s/70s counterculture were outcasts and on the fringe of society and the few who were well connected socially, IE the Weather Underground, infamously fucked themselves by "going underground" and shedding their ties with the mainstream establishment and the left. "Days of Rage" goes into graphic detail about this: basically, in the 70s, the lunatic left followed the same trajectory as the alt right in that their attempts to mainstream their lunatic left wing politics backfired and turned more people against them. And since they responded to that by severing ties with the mainstream, they basically ceded their ground to even worse lunatic lefties who unlike Weather Underground (who tactically shunned murder after several major members of the group died when a bomb they were working on exploded and killed them instead), were willing to kill and basically had zero loyalty to Weather Underground and ended up crushing Weather Underground when they tried to run a convoluted gambit to unite the lunatic left under their control.

4. Finally, thanks to them being funneled straight into corporate America once they leave college, they've managed to infiltrate and seize control over so much infrastructure that it would take a Great Depression level economic collapse or full-on Civil War to unlodge them from the machinary of power that lets the lunatic left do evil in the eyes of God and suffer no consequences while doing said evil.

You signup for a short exam. They test things like memory, calculation speed, perception, and so forth. The rigor is questionable.

It's really nothing more than something to brag about. High IQ doesn't make you inherently better than other people, but there does seem to be a correlation between IQ and anxiety/depression. Bragging about the speed of your computer's processor is kind of silly when your hard drive has nothing but malware on it.

IQ is correlated with success to a point. To be successful I think you need more than just whatever IQ measures. You need to be smart enough, but also be able to deal with things like failure with the ability to pick yourself up and learn from it. I’ve met a lot of people who are smart on paper but are utter dumbasses in many ways. I’ve also met many who didn’t do great in the academic process but have common sense, ability to learn and determination and that does count for a lot.

Intelligence is important, you’re not going anywhere if you’re thick as mince, but it’s only one factor in success.

It's also simplistic to focus on IQ alone since it only really covers logical problem solving, I alway prefer the theory of multiple intelligences proposed by gardener.
You may be a goddamn genius but if you're an unlikable lazy cunt, then all you're going to have to show for it is an awareness of how shitty your life is.

True that. Hard work beats IQ when IQ is too lazy to study. Charisma beats IQ when IQ is an insufferable jackass. Communication beats IQ when IQ can't explain what it is doing to other people.
