I've had friends addicted relentlessly to Xanax and this is the truth, you can smoke a shitton of pot or take psychedelics like shrooms, but it does not hold a candle to the detrimental mind-altering effects of shit designed in a lab by professionals like benzos and pharmaceuticals have in general. Xanax withdrawals can flat-out kill you, and combine that if Ralph already has the shakes from alcohol abuse, he's basically a dead man walking if he's not hospitalized if he has enough brains to scrap the habit.

I didn't see anything re: this posted, but I did just read 20 pages in one go, so forgive me if I'm repeating someone else...

Benzos are the short-term treatment of choice for acute alcohol withdrawal (detox), but most physicians prefer valium or ativan for that treatment. The benzos take the place of alcohol in the brain's chemoreceptors and allow a slow steady taper off of the alcohol without triggering DTs or acute detoxing psychosis.

Benzos don't have anything like this. A sudden withdrawal from them can precipitate a life threatening seizure episode, which can evolve into a steady state of seizure activity (status epilepticus) that fries the brain to a nice toasty crisp.

Status epilepticus should be differentiated from the more common and not life threatening status dramaticus, in which your physician and nurses will laugh at you, refuse to pander to your malingering ass, and boot you out onto the street.

So re: IBS nightly streams.

They start out, make fun of a ton of people/spergs, get viewership, start getting superberries. Over a few weeks, they run out of high-profile drama to make fun of, occasionally something will come up and give them material for a few days, then as they start to run out they do larger 'reaches' to try to spin up drama, this works for a couple weeks, then being surrounded mostly by yes-people they do crazier and crazier stuff. They attract hangers on who at first are good for the show but who also enter the spiral of encouraging crazier and crazier shit.

There is air time to fill after all and they are tied to doing this by the early financial successes. IRL streams seem to follow, and very very few people can do IRL stuff successfully, others wind up doing extremely stupid shit. Eventually viewers stop giving money and start tuning out. Then they get desperate and attack everyone else because 'it can't be MY fault, it worked fine X time ago'. Pretty much only IRL streams I've seen that didn't destroy the streamer eventually are from HarmfulOpinions.

I think Jim has skipped this because he's not committing to doing a nightly show, he just drops vids or live streams when something comes up, this is likely the ONLY proper way to do this stuff. Rekieta does very specific live streams, and mixes them up with game streams, or general discussion, or so on.

Ralph is simply the latest iteration of the 'bad' spiral above.

I think Ralph may wind up simply blogging again on The Ralph Retort, He's burned way too many people and bridges.

It's kind of funny in a very sad way.

I hope that Ralph realizes that he has 'issues' and seeks help, I don't think he is ready to yet.

I just don't think the IBS concept in and of itself is a long term thing that can be done, dropping SOME vids about it here and there is decent, but trying to cover 2, 3 or more hours a night and you have to start making the drama.

Jim is not that close to anyone. What matters is content. Depending on how long this goes on for, Metokur can totally make a video. Remember - he doesn't make a video or stream for everything. He's gonna wait until there's enough to rip on.

He was asked about going on TRR recently via superchat, he said that he doesn't plan on going back on. I'm pretty sure someone posted this in the past week ITT. Ralph is aware that Jim will never return which makes his soliloquy about his love for Jim on the Pillstream even that much more pathetic.
