people on the subreddit blog snark were talking about a recent insta post by the ex-mommy blogger dooce for her daughter's birthday. she's writing a book on her mental illness now and someone made a comment that reminded me of the topic of this thread.
This is going to sound fucked up but I mean it,
Her identity is so wrapped up in being unwell. If a tech dude bro handed her an insta-miracle fix right now, she wouldn't take it.

I watched the Dr.Phil episode on her. I believe they contacted whoever the guy was, he denied doing it and didn't have a license to practice medicine in any state. This is going from memory tho. Basically, he was just a weirdo. He didn't come on a show, just gave a statement.
Do you have a link to that episode? I can only find clips.

Didn't she already write a book about having depression? Is this a different mental illness now, or more of the same one?

also, despite dating for a "few weeks" (according to olivia), they are planning for amelia to fly australia > singapore > denmark > singapore > australia in 5 months time. you know, despite having multiple GFMs, begging for disability pensions for basic living expenses etc etc and having apparently disabling conditions that prevent them from moving within their house. but an international trip spanning multiple countries for a month is totally possible. right.

The discussion on Alexys/Dr. Rome was pages ago but I wanted to weigh in and also share a hilarious shitpost from the lolcow thread.

I agree with everyone saying it seems farfetched (not to mention extremely inappropriate) for a doctor to cuddle in bed with a patient, and Alexys is probably acting out a fantasy on ig. However, I actually do think the texts are likely real. There are many doctors who text patients, even though it’s not secure/HIPAA compliant and the smart ones don’t do it. Also, many doctors unfortunately engage in inappropriate behavior, whether it’s sexual relationships, selling prescriptions or just blurring boundaries in relationships. I’d argue that this last one is the most common and the least reportable, because most state boards don’t consider it outright misconduct and so docs can get away with it, even though it almost always results in harm to the patient. Older female doctors with maternal leanings or some sort of holes in their lives might be more prone to this kind of inappropriate conduct with younger, often female, patients who they take on a maternal role with. I don’t know what Dr. Rome’s family/personal life is like, but I’m sure I/we can find out. If she’s divorced, childless, or had some kind of tragedy like a child who died or something, I think it’s even more likely that she would be susceptible to crossing professional boundaries like that. It’s interesting that she has other patients who say that she is very professional and has good boundaries, so it’s not like she’s known for being like this with all her patients. It could be that the texts are real and she is very warm and emotionally supportive, and Alexys has used that to fuel her twisted fantasy. It’s hard to say.

ETA: A quick perusal of Dr. Rome’s fb shows that she is married with two kids. That shoots down my theory of “lonely, empty woman looking for fulfillment and meaning in the wrong place.” This gets curiouser and curiouser...

Now, the fanfic:
Alexys & Dr Rome Fanfiction.

"Mama, my tubie is beeping!" 21 year old Alexy's cried from her private room in the children's hospital.

"Well maybe if you stopped drinking detergent and too much alcohol you wouldn't need a tubie dear," said the doctor.

Alexys felt hurt by the comment and the inference that she was somehow "doing it to herself" when in reality it was her super serious anorexia causing her kidneys to fail despite all lab results saying otherwise.
Alexys bottom lip trembled as she struggled not to cry. She decided to make an ambiguous post about it on Instagram however when the comments rolled in asking if she had been drinking detergent again, she had a full meltdown. She flung herself on the bed and onto the floor, crying and wailing and heaving and vomiting into a bucket the nurse held. A code blue was called - medical emergency - because he delicate kidneys could not stand to lose anymore water & salt from her tears. An entire team of doctors and nurses came rushing in, including Mama Bear. She lay on the floor beside Alexys, rubbing her back and patting her diapy bottom while Alexys cried and heaved and moaned and groaned and writhed on the floor.

Meanwhile, a little boy with cancer and his family across the hall watched.

I'm pretty sure I just got lupus from reading this thread. That video of Amelia was, wow, something else.

Oh god, this is perfect. For those who don't know she claimed she used to yell exactly that when her pump would go off: "Nuuuursie! My tubie is beeeeeeeping!"

maybe it's just me showing my age but I can't get my head around texting your doctor. Or emailing your doctor for that matter. Actual physicians allow this to happen? When did "call and leave a message with the receptionist" become obsolete?

I agree that texting is just not appropriate and I don’t see it ever making sense. For emergencies, there’s often an after hours number that can be set up to forward to the doctor’s cell. Emailing can make sense, although it’s not secure, if a doctor has a private practice without a receptionist and the patient wants to, say, reschedule an appointment, or has an urgent question between appointments.

I do think that it can be a slippery slope. I’ve actually been working on a thread for the last few months about a psychiatrist cow who, in addition to being a medical woo shill, anti-vax, and repeatedly falling for massive scams, had an inappropriate personal relationship with a patient (not entirely dissimilar to Mama Bear - she called the patient her “little sister”) that began over text and email. Actually, that’s her in my avatar, ha.

Yeah email is a little more professional. Like for a lot of peoples' jobs, email is the standard method of communication at every level. Maybe not the most secure method but most people with "big boy" jobs are going to know how to send a polite, professional email to someone important and know how to wait for a response. Texting feels way too informal and has that sense of "answer me right fucking now! Drop everything you're doing and answer me!" And it gives you the sense that you have a closer, more personal relationship with that person.

I look forward to this thread. It sounds great.

It's not unheard of. In the psychiatric setting, you have something called countertransference where the therapist is affected by the patient, usually in some negative or obsessive way.

. Or emailing your doctor for that matter.

Email isn’t unheard of. For very limited communication it’s fine and often done in private practice. I’m talking ‘Dear X, I have your latest test results. I have appointments to discuss on blah or blah, let me know which works best for you/ confirm I will see you on Friday at nine, best wishes...’ as a means of entirely professional communication it’s ok with the added bonus of a paper trail.
Any personal chitchat beyond the very blandest ‘best wishes/happy holidays/sorry to hear you’re feeling unwell let’s make an appointment’ is not Ok.

State systems is always via receptionists/official communication via text alert, letter etc. But private is another matter.

Well, I don’t know whether to put this back into the Christine thread or put it here, since nobody decided to do a bio on her and she technically hasn’t even tested out of the proving grounds. Anyway, our doxxing and threats of exposing her only got so far into her thick fake flower adorned noggin , because she’s back at pretending she has fucking lupus.

Carrie, please do something with those brows. You can’t be an influencer if you have shitty hair and caterpillars. Oh and THIS is what a REAL Malar rash looks like; it’s bumpy, raised, and reallllyyy noticeable.

Bish, you don’t have any of the shit in that list, and you are certainly neither bedbound, nor fucking beautiful. Beautiful people are beautiful because they have a combination of positivity and looks that attract others to them. Your dead eyes and caterpillars and moaning about with “chronic fevers” when you literally don’t even fit any medical definition for fever nor chronic is a narcissistic waste of space and bandwidth. The reason why treating with CBD early works is because you have fucking ANXIETY. That’s it. And I did fucking notice you didn’t decide to put any anxiety or mental health tags on your post. (Eye roll.)

Move this thread if we decide to let her keep her own thread. I do not think this bish deserves her own thread, in the least. If Morgan Mccastor isn’t after all she’s done, neither is Carrie and the gnomie. IMO, she should only get her own thread if the gnomie comes to defend her honor and we get a video of him raging on about how sick Carrie *really* is.
