Didnt he basically do that on stream.me? He didnt even commit in his promise to stream all episodes of SamFlam. Flamenco, if your lurking here, just stream anime shit and have some fun. Its a thousand times better than working with this fat drunkard who would not listen to other people's advices

Ralph's really struggling with denial here, and he doesn't want to be confronted with his issues at all. It's like addict behavior 101. Anyone who tries to get through to him inevitably gets yelled at, and the harder they try to be real with him, the more aggressively defensive he'll be.

I don't think it's pragmatism or cunning. I think he's just trying to suck up to the people who haven't weighed in. He's buttering them up in the hopes that they won't confront him about his behavior.
Again, it feels like classic manipulative behavior used by addicts to get what they want.

I would call the addict's instinct to manipulate in that fashion a kind of animal cunning.
