I'm more of Shimoneta becoming a reality. 2032 is when they start crashing is my "best case scenario". My pessimism is very strong, especially when it involves this kinda extremism.

I wouldn't give much money to GSC...Sonada finished up the Manga like a decade ago and it was a really depressingly bland conclusion. I grew up with GCS in the late 90s and liked the manga and enjoyed the 3 episode anime and then the manga just stopped. When it came back I was happy and it started off pretty well...but then it got stupid as hell.
The manga ends with May leaving rally, marrying Ken and being Pregnant. Rally keeps her shop and retires as a bounty hunter(I think. its been 10 years since I read the manga), Bean continues being a driver for hire, Becky stays as an informer, and Misty the thief ends up becoming Iron Goldy girlfriend. That part made me mad because having the evil mafia bitch who uses drugs to do all kinds of horrible things and was big on raping and molesting other women got a happy ending. I kind of figured that Sonada lost his storytelling skills and went for a "this is an ending that will make everyone happy" but it didn't make a lot of people happy. I think a lot of people were happy to see the series get a conclusion, but the first major Story Arc with Gray as the villain was really well done and the next one with Rally vs Goldy wasn't bad, but it had a weal ending.

My reasoning is simple: It's about to collapse.
The saner dems in Congress are now openly in revolt against the Progressives, and while they have been for a while, it's been leading to surreal stuff like bipartisan legislation while the psycho wing of the left gets increasingly unhinged. Many on this board, irrespective of political stripe, called that there was going to be Dems to try to negotiate in order to play the proverbial kingmaker back in 2016. This year, it happened, mostly because the Immigration Crisis hit critical mass, and a lot of Congressional Dems realized that their only hope to not wind up completely irrelevant is to fucking govern. The only ones not on board with this are the lunatic wing of the Dems. Even the die-hards in the Blue Dog caucus are realizing they're comprehensively fucked if they don't get on board with bipartisanship, leading to shit like Maxine Waters demonstrably wanting to publicly execute Facebook and multiple pieces of legislation lined up at restraining Silicon Valley - on top of Silicon Valley facing major antitrust action from multiple fucking countries. Nothing quite unites groups like a common enemy.
If anything, the recent UK vote showed them all that more of this shit is coming.
While all this is going down on the government level, we have traditional media dying and the regressive outlets bleeding money. Almost every major outlet suffered major losses and/or layoffs this year, a condition about to get far worse. Even the most powerful, economically-strong-arming corporations they run have been bleeding out billions in cash. Their influence has been on the wane for a while, and the only way they've been able to maintain their grip is through massive infusions of venture capital, holding the entire structure up like a house of cards. Woke shit's never been popular, but increasingly it's gotten to the point where it's further rotting out their influence and causing them to turn on one another.
While it's way too soon to say that things are going to get better, especially given that a cornered animal will lash out, I'm patiently optimistic. One of the most reliably heartening things you ever see in politics is when both sides sheath their 'tism for a few minutes and go: "You know what? I hate you, but man, fuck that guy" as happened a lot with the likes of Pastor Fred and friends. That it's happening on an important issue can only be good news.

I can't believe I am saying this... but I just watched a bit of teh Netflix Evangelion... damn I really miss Amada Wynn Lee, Spike Spencer and Tiffany Grant! The new dub is just flat and boring. There is no life or energy to the characters. If AWL is what it takes to get a memorable performance out of a character, well fill her up with coke and gin and give her a fucking furry to molest.

Another thing to note about Netflix troon Shinji is they're highly competitive in mental gymnastics. Troon Shinji never gave a shit about signing up for the military after highschool, starting a VA career, and during said career. Not even once. Until Trump decided to instate a transtrender ban because mental health reasons can fuck over soldiers during combat or any other case. Not wanting to miss a moment to prove how evul and oppressuv Pmurt is, Troon Shinji decided to enlist after the ban was enacted to score those oppreshun points and cry twansfobya. What a coincidence applying just to get rejected right after papers were signed and enacted.
Not sure whether Netflix thought hiring a FtM troon to mimick Megumi Ogata's portrayal of Shinji did the redub justice. There's still a decent nostalgia fanbase they didn't account for that makes Evangelion still popular among animu fans in the West.

It looks like Studio Khara (Hideaki Anno's company) got angry at how FUNI handled the sub/dubs of the Rebuild movies and meddled QUITE a bit on the Netflix release, including toning down the Shinji/Kaworu subtext in some ways (among other stuff).
