I'm holding out hope that it's double sarcasm. Nobody should be proud of a guy for managing to sound sober. With the bender that he's had the only way he could've sobered up without serious, and I do mean dire effects to his well-being would've been to have checked himself into a hospital. Caffeine doesn't make you talk like that. Large doses will make you jittery, not have an explosive rambling of words. I would bet coke.

Also, Ralph is a moron. If you don't pay your student loans, you will get sued and garnished. Government loans or not. If they are through the government, you can get a repayment plan based on income. He could literally be paying 0 right now since he is making min wage money and not be in default.

He also just claimed that Null was right regarding his substance abuse. That he will abuse any drug that makes him feel good and has been this way all his life.

In addition to his claims of not really remembering the stream with Josh and Dame, he might be suffering substance related memory problems.

Speaking from experience it's likely that he's talking so fast to try to mitigate slurring. I've heard him go into slur territory a few times in the past 10-15 minutes I've been listening, he's just blitzing right through it and trying to correct for it in real-time. One of the reasons I think this is how he keeps speaking in bursts.

Now I've never been batshit insane enough (because I'm not an alcoholic, I guess) to go for as long as Ralph's been going, and it's not exactly something I'm proud of that in my younger years I had experience with long-distance benders, but I can tell that's what he's doing. I'll give him the fact that he's doing as well as he is credit though, it's probably taking as much as he can give to keep it up.

It is hard to tell exactly when Ralph is slurring half the time because of his ancient, extremely strong- hillbilly accent. I dunno exactly what he is on but I don't hear a sober person. He sounds off. He also sounds like a complete nervous wreck.

He's at the point where he's 100% wetbrained even when not actively drinking, and is trying to bullshit people into thinking he's (somehow) out of the tank. It might be that what sounds "off" to you and others is that he's overly-enunciating to try and sell it in combination with trying to fast-talk through/around accidental slurring.

That's kind of why I commend him, it's subtle and might not be too obvious unless you've been there before, but having to try and communicate with someone as if though you're convincingly sober whilst wetbrained takes a horrible amount of effort. Imagine being aware of every single mouth movement you make and trying to pre-plan words on the fly to avoid having your speech fuck up.

No, that's one of the most annoying fucking parts. I think the next 2~ weeks will decide Ralph's fate, and it'll be one of three options. B, total crash with ego-induced career suicide, complete with all the drama we've come to expect. C, he just fizzles back into nothingness, slinking away without fixing a thing and not even bothering to lick his wounds. Personally, I think it'll be C, and he'll just play at getting better long enough to be forgotten, even though that's the lamest and saddest of all of them
