How easily they forget Vic's massive lines at his other cons earlier this year. Super World Con wasn't even billed as an anime con ffs.

I mean, when I was there, there was maybe two dozen people wanting to take pictures with Joe Fucking Montana, an actual famous person. They also left out that the other VAs had almost no interaction, either.

Also that had to be right after opening or something. The black partition/wall you see in the background was where the NFL players were, and was continuously busy, if not super crowded.

It is dependent upon the information being requested, and I don't think anybody is remotely disputing that. In that thread, they even acknowledge that Vic is entitled to the discovery that Casey is withholding, which is an offense worthy of and deserving of sanctions, and they either know it or they should. They sit and say that Ty is some horrible, defunct lawyer, but there's zero criticism of the retarded moves Casey pulled, despite them fully admitting that Vic is entitled to the discovery being withheld. Makes you wonder.

Also, these fuckers are still going on about how answering "I don't recall" to every single tweet was somehow the honest and smart move. How credible and honest do you look when saying that you don't remember making almost 400 statements that you just made a few months prior, but you totally and definitely remember your intent or mindset when making said statement? You can certainly do that, but you look like an absolute fool to a reasonable person.

I also ask again, as Nick has, if the TCPA motion for this particular case is as cut and dry as these lawyers suggest, WHY have the defendants and their counsel not yet filed it? Every bit of argument they've made regarding the TCPA motion relies exactly zero on any bit of depo or discovery, so there's zero point in pushing on with it, other than to further sully Vic's good name and to rack up billable hours.

If Marchi settles first, she's groveling. She's the least able to defend herself financially (Monica is more popular, and Ron probably makes decent money at his (ex?) job; they're both combining their assets even if they're throwing money away at three different lawyers), and probably would just want the case to go away. The only wild card is that she's a nutty feminist type, and her sense of pride might outweigh her sense of self preservation.

I think Marchi's decision to settle will depend on how private she can keep it. Big Tough Independent Don't Take No Shit From No Man Feminists like her usually have spines that turn into puddles of goo as soon as they get backed into a corner and beg for forgiveness- as long as there isn't an audience. If she and her lawyer can work out a deal with Vic and Ty, I imagine that she'll do so in a heartbeat and then we won't see or hear from her again for a decade or so, as she'll go deep into hiding to lick her wounds and share her venom where only her closest allies can see. I mean, we know she has a habit of doing just that.

However, if she's not allowed to do a quiet, backroom deal... We're in for more lovely words from her about castration, because at that point the persona she puts on for the public will be the only thing she has left.

I'm willing to bet, if there's a settlement, that it's not going to be quiet at all. Public retraction, apology, and possibly a video apology as well.

The former was definitely true. Vic (or any of the other geekdom guests) had very little play. When I left the one with the most people in line was Kerrigan Mahan, voice of Goldar from Power Rangers.

As for the latter... not true. People were definitely there to see the NFL players. Maybe lower than I expected to see for Joe Montana and Frank Gore, and probably lower than the 10k supposedly advertised by the site, but it wasn't completely empty.

Yes, Ty already filed a motion to compel, and I believe he asked for sanctions in that motion, but not totally sure. The hearing for that will probably be mid-July. If Ty can properly make the argument that Casey has wrongfully withheld discovery (he almost certainly can), then Casey will be compelled, by the court, to produce the requested documents.
